The 2nd trimester blood test results came back normal. We can breathe a sigh of relief. We're going to start telling people the news that it's a boy, but we'll probably wait until the 20 week ultrasound before going public with that info on Facebook.
I have not had any bleeding or spotting for almost 2 weeks. My energy had also been much better. The dr wants to wait until 20 weeks for me to resume personal training, but walking on the treadmill is fine.
Because I've been feeling better, I have resumed my project of clearing out the baby ''s room. It is now ready for do to whatever he wants to do in there to get ready l and to store any baby items we be to get. Things are finally moving along.
@LynnNJ so glad to hear you're returning back to normal and have no more bleeding!

Happy Monday ladies! Just had my 1 hour glucose test today. We tested a little early just b/c she wants to make sure we keep an eye in case I am more prone to gestational diabetes. I should hopefully know by Wednesday the results. I guess if you fail the 1 hour you have to do the 3 hour. Praying for good results!

@Joyzie77 Yay for the anatomy scan finally being here!!
@Griffin5413 I did the 1 hr test a few weeks ago (early because of a medication I am on) and failed! Ugh. The drink wasn't that bad but it made me feel sick after. The 3 hr drink tasted about the same and the 12 hrs of fasting SUCKED! But I passed. I have to do another one later on and my doc said we'd go straight to the 3 hr this time. I hope you pass!!

dragonfaerie - its the test to see if you have gestational diabetes. One of the things I was reading is that it's usually done around 24-28 weeks. Some doctors choose to do it a little early if they think you may be at risk for some reason or another. My ob wanted to make sure we were proactive b/c of my blood pressure earlier (which is more than perfect now). Typically if you don't pass the 1 hour, you have to go back for a 3 hour one where you have to fast for 12 hours before.

We had a scare Friday night. Lots of bleeding and contractions. I was in the hospital til Sunday morning. We still do not know what caused it, but thankfully everything seems to be slowing down. All the prayers knock on all the wood etc, every time they did an u/s or heart check baby boy was oblivious to what was going on with mama! I'm now a paranoid freak about every single twing, poke, stretch, pang, etc. **what are you guys currently feeling going on in the belly region?** I wish there was a list of what is just normal and some way to be clear about exactly what it feels like.
I never thought I could have so much love and fear for some one so tiny that I have not even met yet.
Also, I firmly believe that St. Gerard was watching over us, I know we have a prayer group on another page, but I highly recommend that if you need someone other than the Big Guy to pray to regarding baby, pick St. G. I clutched the medal of him, that I wear all the time, for many hours over the weekend.

@vssbrm OMG - I'm so sorry. That sounds really really scary -- I'm happy things are ok right and praying for you that everything continues normally and it was just a weird blip in the pregnancy. Are you on bedrest right now?
As for my symptoms, I'm a few weeks behind you (currently 17 weeks) so I don't know if the comparisons are really the same -- plus everyone is so different on symptoms. I *think* but am not 100% certain I'm feeling the baby kick - it basically feel like gas pains every now and again but a little different. I don't really have the flutters, or popcorn feeling - its more painful gas but in an area I don't usually get gas. I did notice some sensations on what I think was my cervix yesterday -- but I don't know if I'm imagining that or what. It sort of felt like mini cramps in the cervix area. I had a mini freakout because I haven't had my cervical check yet so I was thinking it was something about my cervix being compromised but then it went away. Not sure if that helps you but I think its totally understandable to be anxious with every pain and twinge.
I'll keep thinking positive thoughts and prayers for you!

@Drove2u doing well. Went in for an exam, some cultures, blood and a heart check today. Everything looked and sounded good, except I have ANOTHER yeast infection from the antibiotics over the weekend. I'm too nervous to use an over the counter again, so I think I'm going to have to suffer thru.

I just came back from my regular ob appt. heard the heart beat again. Aww it's so sweet. Have to schedule the tdap injection now for third trimester. And I ordered my $300 electric breast pump today for free through insurance. So excited. Lol!! Mostly excited because it was free. And I get six free lactation in home visits. So taking advantage of that!! Monday is the anatomy scan.
Drove2u - what is the tdap injection? what breast pump did you go with? I know my insurance has several options I can choose from so I'm trying to decide between a few.

@griffin5413 they recommend for the parents and people that will spend a lot of time with the baby like grandparents let's say to get this whooping cough vaccine. It's called tdap and you can get it through your regular doctor. I got the medela pump in style advanced starter set as my electric breast pump. And then I added a manual breast pump to my registry as just in case or for work.
@drove2u - Oh ok. I didn't realize the whooping cough vaccine is called that. I'm sure I'll get it closer to due date.

@Griffin5413 I think the tdap is Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (whooping cough.) Most adults haven't gotten that immunization in so long that even though they really want the Whooping cough one for sure, they do the combo one to get you up to date on the rest.

I'm officially 18 weeks today and went in for the anatomy scan -- everything looked good, baby was measuring ahead at 19w 2 days (9oz). They couldn't get him to move around so I have to go back in 2 weeks to get a few followup shots of a few areas they couldn't get too-- but doctor said based on this, she's not expecting anything to come back abnormal and all looks ok. We were very happy and relieved!
Other than that, just trying to finish up my registry in the next week or so -- or and also definitely feeling the baby kick. I wasn't sure at first because it felt very similar to gas, but now I'm quite confident when he kicks. I'm also going through the somewhat ridiculous exercise of stretching my nipples-- I have flat nipples (they don't evert when pinched) and I've read that can make it very challenging to breast feed (you can also use an nipple shield). I definitely want to give breastfeeding a try (if it doesn't work then I guess I'll do bottle feeding) but am wearing these very funny looking Phillips Avent Nipplette (nipple extenders) for 8 hours a day underneath my bra/clothing. Anyhow else have this issue?
Would love to hear how everyone is doing! @vssbrm has your bleeding stopped?

Wow!! I've never heard of the Niplette here. I don't have physical problems with my nipples but I really hate them touched, sucked or anything like that but I'm planning on breastfeeding and not sure how I'm going to do that. lol. I also don't know why I hate that sensation so much!! Well my baby shower is finally planned for October 23. So excited. Now just need to get the invites out.
@Griffin5413- that's so sweet and hilarious that DH wants to feel him all the time. I think my DH will be the same way -- although I can feel the baby kick, others can't yet. So now DH asks me like five times a day "is the baby kicking" I guess its reassurance to them that they are doing ok...
@Drove2u - totally understand - especially with my breasts being more sensitive now than before I'm not sure how that's going to work. I guess all you can do is give it a try and see :-) Yay for your shower!

@Drove2u I'm wondering if you can talk to someone. It may be normal to have that sensitivity and "distaste" (for lack of a better word) for touch. Maybe in a breastfeeding class they could address it, or your nurse/doula could give you some advice? I'm sure it will work out either way though! I'm glad that you got your shower planned! I feel like I can finally get a date for mine because my cousin finally set the date for hers and she is due before me.

vssbrm - I want to say the 1st time he felt was right around 21/22 weeks so I'm sure you guys will feel it soon. There are definitely times though when I think he is going to be a soccer player. lol.
@Drove2u - you could always talk to the lactation specialist at your hospital or your OB. They may have some recommendations. I think I am going to b/c I'm super sensitive too.
So we had our hospital tour last night which went really well. I like where we are going to deliver. I feel better knowing they have a level 3 NICU just in case. We also got a really good recommendation for a pediatrician which was a plus. What was crazy to me is that she was talking about how they regularly deliver (obviously when needed) at 24-25 weeks and babies are doing great. That's next week for me. One the one hand it's crazy but reassuring at the same time that God forbid if something happened and I had to deliver in the next few weeks there would still be a possibility of him surviving at this point and being ok.

Re: April/May IF success group
I have not had any bleeding or spotting for almost 2 weeks. My energy had also been much better. The dr wants to wait until 20 weeks for me to resume personal training, but walking on the treadmill is fine.
Because I've been feeling better, I have resumed my project of clearing out the baby ''s room. It is now ready for do to whatever he wants to do in there to get ready l and to store any baby items we be to get. Things are finally moving along.

@Joyzie77 great pics!! So cute!!
@LynnNJ glad to hear the bleeding has stopped.

I'll keep thinking positive thoughts and prayers for you!

im going for a checkup tomorrow. It's a good thing my doc is so amazing, any other would probably be annoyed by me.
@susykat77 I've had similar shooting pains like that.
@Knottie1432834683 I am on a version of bed rest I guess. Doc wants me to get up and move around, but not over do it. So go to the grocery store one day. Run a few errands the next but get lots of rest inbetween. I can do some stretchy yoga too but nothing crazy. I also can't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk.

I'm definitely feeling my little guy moving around a lot too. DH got to feel him kick last week and he was so excited. Now he keeps asking why he can't feel him all of the time. LOL. We have our hospital tour tomorrow which I'm looking forward to. I've got to find that list someone posted with the questions to ask on a tour!
