@lovelylauren86 did you follow a pattern for the crib skirt? I want to make some and couldn't decide how long to make it, it looks like you used the lowest mattress setting?

DH and I are FINALLY going to look at new carpet this weekend! Huzzah! Hopefully we can pick one we like easily and get it installed swiftly so we can move on nursery prep. I'm just excited that he brought it up for once (instead of me pestering him) and was all "yeah, we better do that this weekend."
Painter is scheduled for next Saturday, so we'll be looking at swatches on Monday! LO's crib gets delivered tomorrow and a good (and clearly generous) friend actually bought the DaVinci Piper glider off our registry. Give me another two weeks to have a legit nursery pic post!
Okay, you ladies have officially kicked my lazy butt into gear! We'll still need to use LO's nursery as an office, so I am doing minimal furniture additions in there but I want to set up something for her. @lovelylauren86 I totally stole the idea from your beautiful 3D butterfly artwork and did a quick DIY version which, although not as gorgeous as yours, turned out OK for $14. I'm currently painting our old glider white with chalk paint and will be reupholstering it with the grey print below. I'll be doing a ruffle crib skirt with the two pink fabrics and, if I can pull that off, I am going to attempt to tackle ruffle curtains in the same colors. Walls will be grey and I'll be painting DS's old crib white as well. I pretty much stole ideas from all of you haha, everyone is so talented!!! ETA picture of letter to go above the crib, didn't want to do a separate comment.

Love the art! Wish I had done mine myself. That's talent!
So we, or I should say I, was thinking of doing a mermaid theme but I just started the nursery this weekend and decided to do a floral theme. Mint and pink with accents of gold. We will need to keep our guest bed in here until my sister and brother in law visit at the end of June. But I'm so glad I at least got the walls painted
holy moly @Shiva14 ! Love the butterflies! Can you share the instructions? I'm thinking of making a mobile with the butterflies.
@seitzy3 love, love, love the color theme. your gold dots look perfectly spaced out!!
It honestly was so easy, I'm sure you could do a mobile! I found the butterflies at Michael's on sale, 9 for $2.99 (I bought 27 but didn't use them all). They are made for flower arrangements so they have a thin metal wire you have to cut off. Otherwise the body is plastic and the wings are made from feathers with glitter poured over them. I got a slanted canvas on sale for $5, grabbed some acrylic paint in the color I wanted and painted the canvas. Then I super glued the butterflies to the canvas because I was too lazy to dig out my hot glue gun.
If you want paper butterflies I know etsy has some cheap printables too.
@seitzy3 that accent wall looks amazing! How on earth did you get the polka dots so perfectly spaced? I've been thinking of trying something like that but thought I could never pull it off without wall paper!

It was SO easy. I bought gold stickers online (they are 1.5 inch circles) and I applied the first dot, measured 1 foot below and applied the other, 1ft applied the other etc. Then for the second row I measured the middle of the first two dots and started that one and went one foot below. The best part is that the stickers can be so easily removed if I messed up I just took it off and reapplied it
Did you use low VOC paint? I'm considering buying some decals to put up but read that they may not stick to low VOC paint...sooo my whole design plan may be out the window now. Or I have to hand paint trees, which seems very tedious.
@rock1cherry hmm I'm not sure. I used sherwin Williams cashmere paint. When I looked it up it comes up as one of the options as low voc and has a greengaurd sticker that says "product certified for low chemical emissions"
Thanks @seitzy3 I just looked it up and that one seems to have similar VOC numbers on the msds as the paint I used - Sherwin Williams Duration. This gives me hope that my plan will still work! I don't want to spend $50 on decals to have them fall off the wall. Fingers crossed it works.
I finished the nursery over the weekend! Lots of pics ahead! The lighting isn't great for taking pics since there isn't any over head lighting in this room. But I feel like it's bright enough in person.

@AnnaS930 it's a guest bed. (Though we rarely ever have guests!). With my daughter I slept in the nursery for the first few weeks so DH wouldn't be waking up every time I would nurse her (since he goes back to work soon after the baby is born). I have an arms reach co-sleeper to set up also but I may try putting baby in the crib from the start. We'll see!

Honestly I read online that low voc paint isn't necessary unless you plan on doing that for your walls as well. All paint gives off voc unless of course it's low voc paint. My husband and I are DIY'ers so we have tried every paint under the sun. As far as furniture goes we have found the best results with valspar cabinet paint. It's awesome. It has enamel in it so it gets really hard, leaves zero brush strokes, and is really shiny when it's dry. We never have to prime it and only need 2 coats no matter the project. That is what we used to paint our crib. You can get it in any valspa color you want. Just make sure you have do have it tinted even if it you want it white. We tried chalk paint and honestly I hate that stuff for one color projects. It is good for distressing but really that's it. IMO :-)
@Sarafuss- That's great! It looks so darling. We had a futon and double bed in the guest room that we turned into a nursery. We moved the guest room to our finished basement, but kept the futon in there - for the rare double-booked guests and if I need to sleep in the nursery at all
@Sarafuss I love this, what a great space!! Now I'm getting antsy to do something even though we're probably moving. Maybe I'll go buy some paint to do the dresser today.
@kosmo86 looks great! Those pictures are amazing. We have the same crib. At first I was hesitant since it seemed so low compared to many other (more expensive) cribs but now I love it. It's gonna make picking up/putting down LO and changing sheets much easier.
I just bought the paint for little boop's room today. Our AC is on the fritz upstairs and it's FLIPPING HOT but by cracky I was going to paint at least SOME of the wall! Our crib comes in on Friday and the rest of the furniture is all caddywhompus around the room while I'm arranging. I can't wait to get the walls painted and the curtains hung and all the furniture in place.
The general theme is Nursery Rhyme/Storybook.
I'm not going to take a picture of the disaster the room
is now with all the paint stuff out, but here's a photo of the fabric we
used for the nursery curtains (my mum sewed them, bless her!) and the
paint we picked out for the walls:
We finally started!! My girlfriend ordered a glider for me which will arrive next week; still have to shop for curtain rods and curtains; and no idea what I want to do with the walls - so much inspiration in this thread and on Pinterest.
Finally started to hang some things in the nursery. We still have our guest bed in there since bro/sis in law will be here tonight. I'm excited how it's turning out. The frame I made myself and spray painted the letters. It will go above her crib t minus 10 weeks , or 8ish if she is anything like her older sisters.
@seitzy3 love it! We are getting those same flowers to do a gallery wall above the crib. Those are the ones from Target, right? Everything looks so pretty and delicate! My kind of girl nursery.
