@shaylalr it took a few months only because I always caved and would let them in. It also helped that we moved to a house where they couldn't open the door. We have knobs now but before they would be able to jump on the handle and let themselves in. But after a few months of locking them out, they understood that the bed is off limits at night time. Every once in a while they'll cry but for the most part they're good about going to their beds.
Other cloth diapering moms: if you are using cloth wipes, how many do you plan on having? I'm making my own and my original plan was 40 - 50, my mom thinks that's too many. She did cloth with me and all my siblings but she used disposable wipes so I'm just not sure. Never too many right? I really don't want to run out and end up having to use disposable because we won't have them around and I hate throwing things away.
@stellaluna14 I probably have 75 wipes made, approximately? I figured 10 diapers/day with 1-3 wipes per diaper... I'd need 30ish per day. Plus blow outs and wiping sticky things, etc. If I'm doing diaper laundry every other day that should be enough.

I totally am over planning on cloth wipes. Although I did put some nice ones on our registry, I'm just making my own too from blankets/towels I've picked up thrifting so going overkill isn't a big deal to me. I'm allowing for 3 wipes per diaper change (x12 changes a day) with the intention of having to do diaper laundry every other day. So 70-80 wipes for me. I want to keep some in the diaper bag at all times, some upstairs, some down stairs, and my husband has never changed a diaper before. So in all honesty, it very well may take him 3 per change. I also figure once baby is bigger with less frequent changes, I'll be using wipes to clean them up with. @stellaluna14
@elenabrent@LDSJM123 thanks! I was figuring 1-2 per change too plus I want to have enough for other disasters on the go haha. I'll probably shoot for 80!
I've been craving a milkshake but keep forgetting to get ice cream (or drive my ass over to Cook Out). I realized tonight that I did have frozen bananas, so I made myself a 2 frozen banana + 1/2 cup almond milk + 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder smoothie. Fuck. Yes. It was fantastic and completely scratched the itch.

I started my hospital bag. Not bc I'm a freak, I swear. That crib just looked so empty so I put a bag in there and started throwing shit in it. And there it will stay until we replace it with a human....eek!

I've casually started packing mine too. Every time I go to the store I pick up a few more things I'll need for it/postpartum time at home. It's exciting!
@LadyFleck - Yesterday at Walmart I bought postpartum pads and am starting to squirrel stuff away for my postpartum basket. I will be starting my hospital bag as soon as I get a diaper bag from my baby shower (thanks registry stalking for letting me know I am getting one!). This is really the only way I'm preparing for baby coming. The other nursery prep/nesting will come later!
Between reading all your advice regarding hospital bags and postpartum needs, as well as doing our hospital visit yesterday, sh*t is starting to feel super real and I am feeling so behind! I fell asleep last night thinking about mesh panties and ice packs and pads, oh my.
I bought some of my postpartum goodies this weekend. Tucks pads with witch hazel, Always Infinity overnight pads, colace, big ugly underwear, what else am I forgetting?
I finally got my Snoogle pillow in the mail yesterday & OMG. Last night was the first night in two months that I didn't wake up 5-6 times with hip or leg pain. Best investment of my life so far, strongly recommend.
@theshannondeeIf you are for taking pain meds, I'd go ahead and buy a bottle of extra strength Tylenol. It's helpful for weaning off of the medicine they give you in the hospital to manage the pain post delivery. I'd also buy either some preparation H or some hyrdo-cortisone cream - you'll be layering that on top of the Tucks/pad combo. I'd wait to see how you're feeling afterwards and send someone to Walgreens/CVS if necessary, but I also had to have DH buy a donut cushion for me because it was too painful to sit with the hemis.
@elenabrent your shake inspired my green smoothie this morning - almond milk, spinach, banana, cacao powder, flax seed, hemp hearts, chia seed and vegan protein powder!
I'd add the antiseptic numbing spray to the list as well. That stuff feels amazing! I second The donut to sit on. My hospital gave me a small blow up one, so I didn't need to buy one. I've never heard of using prep H on the pads, that's super interesting. I find it fascinating all the variations of relief postpartum. @theshannondee
Instead of getting a donut to sit on I just used my Boppy! It worked perfectly, and at the beginning DS was too small for it anyway so we used a pillow or 2 to nurse
@benten24 I'm glad you pointed this out because I kept seeing experiencing this and thought I was losing it. Pregnancy brain is bad these days! ya'll all seem way ahead of me! I haven't even thought of hospital bags yet. Or postpartum. Hell, I am lacking a crib. I'm starting to freak out too!
I don't know where the energy came from but my nesting just kicked into full force. I spent the last 3 hours deep cleaning our bedroom (where baby will sleep in the pack n play for a few months). Even if we move into a house before the baby is born, this will make things easier at that time.
@LDSJM123 Ah yes the spray! I remember hearing about that... Adding it too the list! I know right me too, I would rather have a few options to mess with and see what works so I love the advice.
Totally random (but this is what this thread is for, right?) but I am feeling the love at work today for Administrative Professionals Day. Our company is always great about showing gratitude, but they outdid themselves this year. We had a catered lunch from PF Chang's and we all received Alex and Ani rings. In addition, the managers in our department threw us an ice cream social and gave us all kinds of pretty gifts. Totally bragging, but it is things like this that make me feel appreciated at my job and help me know I am in a great place career-wise even when I have rough days!
Oh, and I almost forgot, my team of recruiters who work from the Philippines sang me Taylor Swift on our morning call today because they know she is my fave. It was the cutest thing ever and I love them so much!
I did a no-no that I said I wouldn't do...I looked at our registry. Went on to add a couple more things and the temptation was too great. Problem? My MIL offered to go pick up our crib yesterday since she had the day off work and suddenly there is a lot missing from the registry. Really hoping it's a coincidence because otherwise there's still so many people invited to my showers that need a chance at the list!
Holy hell the tdap shot has killed my arm. Can I call in sick to work because typing hurts?
I request that all IM shots be given in my butt. There's more meat back there. Still gets sore, but considerably less. Same thing for my Rhogam. That thing hurts like a mother.
Nesting is in high gear and we're getting the carpets and furniture cleaned tomorrow. Do you tip them? The guy is moving the couch, chair and ottoman. All othe furniture will already be removed, if it makes a difference.
My puppy had her hernia surgery today. She's in so much pain and I feel so bad when the vet went to get her from the back she was just screaming until she got into her dog carrier. I have her in her kennel right now and she won't lay down or anything just crying and I can't give her any more pain medication until tomorrow night. I just want to cuddle her but I'm scared to touch her incase I hurt her accidentally.
Re: Week of 4/25 Randoms
@kellyj103 Oh good!! That makes me feel a lot better. How long did it take for them to stop crying at the door?
@sboston06 I am worried about the exact same thing! My cat loves kids and all people.
