Just came from the doctors office. First cervical check of the pregnancy. I am 39 weeks tomorrow Saturday. I am one and a half centimeters dilated and I feel like these contractions are getting stronger and stronger by the minute.
But since I just got checked literally two hours ago- it couldn't have been so fast right or could the cervix open up so fast? Back pain and uterus hardening and an exhausting feeling. Anyone dilated really really fast before? FTM here.
I'm a bit farther than you (39 1/2 weeks, 4 cm dilated, fully effaced, carrying SUPER low), but to be honest, I'm starting to wonder whether it's just wishful thinking or whether today's cervix check may have gotten things moving.
Since my appoinment 2 hours ago, I had a bm, am feeling more crampy, and threw up a little bit.
I've definitely read about ladies dilating very quickly, although it seems to be more the exception than the rule. Best of luck to you!

With DS, I dilated from 1cm to 5 in a matter of hours. If they were checking you, it could have also sped things up. Are you timing your contractions?
@Dasha420Well in that case, I hope not then. I will say that every time I get a cervical check I get crampy feeling for like a day afterwards, and I've also had some spotting... so it could also be nothing... just an irritated cervix from the check.
If these contractions could stop squeezing my bladder so I don't feel like I need to get up and lurch my way to the bathroom ten minutes after I last went, that would be great, kthnx.
I agree with PP I never bleed after checks and I had one on Tuesday and was spotting and then Wednesday night lost chunk of MP and have lost more yesterday and some more this morning !
TMI warning: Is it a thing to lose your MP in bits over the course of days?? I'm 39+2, not quite 2 cm dilated, no signs of being anywhere close to labor. But there's been at least a little bit of brownish/pinkish...glop every time I've gone to pee for the last week or so. I know losing the MP doesn't mean anything, I was just surprised to see it maybe happening over such a long period of time.
It is definitely making me feel like a lovely classy lady, especially when combined with crippling gas and lightning crotch. So much for dignity.
Ok I don't know if this is a thing, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm having contractions in my sleep. Every time I wake up (1-3 times a night to pee and then finally to my alarm in the morning) I can barely move because my abdomen is so sore. I've been having at least one BH a day but gesh that shouldn't be making me this sore. Anyone else having this?
@H0neyC0mb yes, I've been having that for the past couple of weeks. I had assumed it was just because of the weight of my belly but maybe it could be contractions...

****stuck in box****** I dilated in 30min this labor (just a few days ago). The contractions wrapped around my back and abdomen and pushed down and in, very hard, from under my bra line down into my thighs. My water had also broken, so I got a strong gush of fluid with the start of each one. I could talk through them, but in a breathy way like I had just run very far. They were basically on top of each other starting at first 5min after my water broke, for 1 minute, then jumping to 3min apart for 1 min in duration, then 2 minutes apart 1.5min duration until we got to the hospital 30min from start and they gave me a shot to slow the contractions (breech baby who would have gotten terribly stuck had my body kept trying to push him out.) I had a continual extreme low pressure too. From what I understand, that quickly isn't at all common.
I had one random wraparound contraction in the middle of the night last night and jesus christ if that's what labor is going to be like, how does anybody even survive that.
I felt like my whole body was systematically crushing itself in sequence. I cannot imagine enduring hours of that. I really, really hope it was an aberrant one-off and that's not what labor is actually like.
I swear this baby is intentionally digging his claws into my cervix. Stooooooppppp it! And...my poor booty situation is improving, but still bothersome.
Induction is scheduled for next Friday morning! I haven't noticed any contractions or anything and last week wasn't dilated at all, at 35 weeks, and she didn't check today. Hoping that the induction doesn't take forever to get labor started and it'll be a quick one
I was reading one of my pregnancy apps this morning. It said real contractions start out at the top of your uterus. This can't be true for everyone, can it?
You'd think I'd know being a STM, but all I remember from last time is all over belly pain with the contractions, I don't remember how they started out.
This isn't true for everybody lol. My contractions started in my butt and radiated to the top of my uterus throughout my entire labor. It literally felt like I had the biggest poop of my life trying to come out. My ob said this is just as common as them starting at the top and coming down or starting in your back and coming to the front.
100% agree! For me it felt like my tail bone was burrowing out of my butt. It never changed to feeling in the front at all

I posted this in the still working mamas board because originally I was working till my edd but im curious if anyone has had the same issue im currently having so...I wanted to work till my dd the 25th so I have more paid time when she comes to spend with her but I went to the docs 2 Wednesdays ago and told her I have been having headaches on and off and as of last week constantly(zero high bp at all and still) so she sent me for bw. She called me sun and said some levels were off and wanted a 24hr (just when i thought i snuck outta all that fun stuff some of you have been doing lol) saw her this Wednesday and it wasnt too high but over the limit so they had me try migraine meds(not working even a little by the way) and no work for me till at least monday when i go back to see another doc and check everything again. I hope I can go back because I get unlimited paid sick time if Im not permanently out but if they dont let me go back to work for atleast the week my leave starts! Boooo!! But bottom line if they think its best for her im done. Im just glad im 37 weeks and have had just the normal issues untill now when she is almost the 40 to make an appearance if necessary. I give props to the ladies who have been dealing with this since early on in the high risk weeks with way more risk than I currently have its a crazy worry roller coaster!

I had to start leave earlier then I originally planned because of severe headaches. Fiorecet (meds) help but I can't drive after I take them. They put me to sleep for hours. Luckily I was able to go into work 2-3 days per week until week 39 when I gave into my body and leave. Now I'm on baby watch.
I walked A LOT last night and had a couple contractions and then fell asleep and they pretty much stopped. I woke up early this morning and I'm positive I lost my entire mucus plug. I am really hoping baby comes by tomorrow afternoon. My DH will be gone Mon-Thurs next week on a business trip 3 hours away and I CAN'T go into labor while he's gone!

I'm in a different scenerio where I'm getting symptoms (irregular contractions and slowly loosing mucus plug) but really don't want to go into labor before Tuesday. If I do it's an an automatic c-section since LO isn't head down. ECV is on Tuesday at 39w+2 and its my only hope of a vaginal delivery.
I think I'd rather have no signs at this point .. lost my MP Wednesday & Thursday I've been having contractions and watery discharge and still nothing the anticipation is killing me haha
@vinerie I'm due today and I haven't had any obvious contractions. I'm still not 100% on what's gas, a contraction, BH, or poop.
I am the same way! And I'm a STM! Lol!! I never had any BH with my first, but I think I have been this time.. But I don't know!! Lol. My doctor asked if I have had any contractions and I said I'm not sure and he laughed! What am I supposed to tell him? I really don't know! Is it gas, poop, or BH who knows! Haha!
I get timeable contractions when I sit down to relax. They stop once I get up or lay down on my side. I know this is normal, but I can't be on my feet all day long!!!
So I'm due on this Monday the 9th. I am currently 39 wks and 5 days. I have no symptoms of labor, only constipation pain and lower back pain-but I've had that all throughout the pregnancy and even before it. I don't know if I've lost my MP. My mucus has been white and dries yellow. I've been asked by my ob if it's increased and I don't know because to me it's a lot. My baby has had her head down and feet by ribs since March 18th. I usually stop drinking liquids by 8 pm so I don't get up a lot (hubby goes to bed at 9 30-10 cause of work), which is only about 3 times tops. I have not been checked for dilation and I don't know if they do that where I'm from. My breasts do leak but not very often. I do get pain right under my breasts/ribs. Sitting up hurts because of it. I can't lay on my right or left side sometimes cause of pain and keeping my knees bent during the night is a struggle sometimes. I've been having constipation since yesterday morning. TMI I had diarrhea twice thursday night and loose stools for about a weekish before that.
I would like to participate here, but I got nothin'. Due date is Monday! Anyone else getting close with no signs of labor, whatsoever?
I dip in and out of having symptoms. Thursday night was rough (lots of cramps and contractions), last night I had nothing, today I have nothing.
It's all a total fake-out. I'm just going to try not to think about it until Monday. I really need to be able to work at least until Monday.
I'm in the same boat! Was up all night Thursday with contractions and cramping, then nothing. Losing mucus plug slowly since having my membranes stripped on Tuesday, but not hopeful about that because it's regenerated before and probably will again.
