  • @Kellyfish79  So excited to hear about your embryo!  Great news.

Really excited to hear about everyone's schedules and how everyone is progressing -- sounds like lots of stimming and folly growing going on.

AFM - I had my baseline appt. yesterday and everything went great!  I have never been so excited to start the shots!  For all you ladies that don't like needles/shots, I'm the same way.  But all this IVF stuff has now made it so much better and yesterday, since I was away from home for work, I had to give myself the injection.  It's not fun but the fact that I can do it means you all can too!  Next steps are a lining check in about 2 weeks and then if that goes well my ET.  So excited!

    About me:
Me 35, DH 36 (Unexplained Infertility, possible PCOS) TTC for 3.25 years.
10 clomid cycles (TI & IUI with ovidrel triggers - all BFN).
    *Loss mentioned
#1 IVF May 2015- resulted in 15 five-day blasts - SET (fresh) with BFP. Ectopic Preg @ 5w2d, treated with Methotrexate.
    #2 FET, Sept. 2015, SET MC@8 wks with D&C in November 2015.
13 remaining blasts sent for PGS testing.  1 did not survive the thaw. 6 came back normal from PGS.
    #3 FET Scheduled 5/16/16
    About me:

    *Loss mentioned & Trigger warning

  • @KirstenCas those mid day phone calls at work are the worst! Thank goodness the second blood test helped, good luck with your meds!

@kellyfish79, congrats on the great pgs results!
  • I'm really hoping I can catch up with all the updates of all you ladies...feel like I wasn't on for a few days and lots has been happening!

@chicandbubbly happy to see you're joining the group and doing ivf soon!  I would also be nervous about dh not being here for my shots but like you, I'd probably ask my mother to do them instead!

AFM: Had my baseline today and nurse called after to let me know everything is clear to start menopur and gonal-f tomorrow!  I'm excited to get started:).

  • @emgem819 that is awesome news! I am on those same meds and they are not bad at all! The menopur does sting just a tad going in but no worse than a flu shot. The gonal-f I can't even feel the needle or the liquid going in! I kind of like mixing the menopur lol!

AFM I am having some crazy moods tonight (happy, sad, annoyed, back to happy, beyond pissed off, crying, all in about 30 min) and DH and I got into it about his mother and some recent stuff she has said/done where we both see it completely differently. Ugh. Mother in laws!!

  • @Tusername and @dragonfaerie sorry to hear you get headaches too and they come with the territory.  I'm concerned because I get a lot of migraines but always take excedrin migraine but RE said I can't take anything but Tylenol. Did you take anything else?

  • @KirstenCas The same happened to me but I got kinda used to the extra shot lol.  Good thing is, they're fixing it. ;)
So many new cycles - good luck,  everyone!   :)
  • @mtpbadger My doctor is very pleased with my count so far bc he was worried I'd get OHSS. If he's happy- I'm happy! 10 is great too! Maybe your retrieval will be around the same time as mine since our eggies are similar in size. Even if you're delayed a couple days- it's coming up so quickly! FX for those follies and that the rest of your cycle goes well!! Sitting on the couch is what I've been wanting to do too!
@Tulips29 I am feeling more uncomfortable today, so I think that may be the case for me as well. It's strange being so aware of your ovaries! They probably did bounce when you got up!
@dragonfaerie I have stopped working out but I am still working. I can tell that I will have to be on more and more limited duty as the days go by. I'm so sorry you're dealing with headaches too! Your transfer is coming up soon!
@emgem819 My RE also said only Tylenol. So, I haven't been taking anything since Tylenol doesn't help enough for me to want to add on another med.
Like @dragonfaerie said- at least it's for a good cause
@Kellyfish79 Congrats on that emmie and I hope this next cycle goes well!

afm- I had b/w & u/s check up today. I started Menopur tonight, and the Ganirelix so that none of my follies will ovulate early.
I hope everyone is feeling okay and able to keep your spirits up!

  • @kirstencas congrats on getting the first shots out of the way! Not so bad, huh? You totally got this!

@tusername I went back this morning for US/BW and holy cow have my follies taken off - about 15 on the left and 13-14 on the right total with about 15-18 measurable around 12-14mm. I am definitely feeling more uncomfortable today and will go back most likely Sunday for monitoring. It's a possibility we will be triggering within a day or so of eachother! I find it interesting that my RE had me start Ganirelix on Wednesday night. As of right now I have enough meds to get me through Monday night and have already had to refill my Menopur and Gonal-F to get me through the weekend. Good news is that I've met my out of pocket max for insurance for the year already so no co-pay with the meds! WHOOO!!!

@KirstenCas I'm so glad that your second blood test was better and you are good to go!
@emgem819 I have a rice bag with herbs in it that I keep in the freezer. If a headache starts getting bad, I lay that across my neck and shoulders. But yeah, Tylenol doesn't do much for me either so unless it's a REALLY bad headache or some other body ache, I don't bother. I'm excited for you to start your meds!
@Tusername I worked out pretty good this week, but I am going to back off some more starting next week and do lighter weights. It's hard for me to do that because I'm thinking "I can lift more! Keep going!" But I noticed today my body was feeling a little off, so it's definitely time to slow down.
@MntnGirl I may have to try that with the oils!

  • So today turned from frustrating to exciting! I had been told to call my nurse when my next cycle started to see if I should start BCPs this cycle or wait longer, and they just called me back after talking with the PGD doctor. Apparently my PGD probe should be set-up by mid-May (which is a bit confusing cause I'm still having issues with biological family members getting tested, but, hey, I'll take it!) so I'm starting BCPs tomorrow! AND the nurse told me that she went ahead and ordered all the meds, and i just need to call Caremark next week to schedule delivery! My "official" meds list is: Follistim 900iu pen, menopur 75iu, cetrotide 0.25mg, and hcg. not quite sure how much each dose will be...but i FINALLY feel like i'm progressing towards the grand finale!
  • Wow, I've been away way too long.

@Tusername May 3rd is right around the corner!!
@mtpbadger glad those meds are working!! hope your discomfort stays at a minimum.
@KirstenCas I start my first shots on Sunday! Glad yours weren't too bad!

Congrats to everyone getting their protocols and starting stims!! Too many to mention! Love to hear everyone getting started on this crazy journey.

AFM - i've been pretty consumed with taking care of hail damage (crazy weather in Texas). Shattered windshield and dents on car, and roof damage. Bleh. BUT it's been keeping my mind off of everything else. Hope all you fellow Texans were unscathed!

Had a FREAK OUT moment when my meds came in. Started looking at the intramuscular needles, and almost passed out. Then I thought they forgot my gonal/F and called pharmacy only to be very embarrassed... I had put it in the fridge and forgot about it LOL. They were very understanding, thankfully!

Haven't even start stimming, and I'm losing my mind! FX for all of you. Hope y'all have a FANTASTIC weekend!

  • @babylonghorn16 Don't worry! I called and complained because I thought they sent me the wrong Lupron, but turns out it was okay, so I was pretty embarrassed. I'm sure they are used to all of us calling a million times and saying "What's this? Where's this? HELP!" Hehe. Good luck cleaning up from the weather. Sorry you've had to deal with that nonsense.

  • @babylonghorn16 - my plan, once the meds are delivered in a week or two, is to not open the box until my husband is home and have him do it! Not looking forward to the IM needles at all! lol
  • @dragonfaerie Thanks - that makes me feel better! It's all just so much!
@caseyw8784 that's a good plan! Unfortunately, my husband is even more squeamish than I am... but after looking at those needles, I told him to get the ef over it, bc there is no way in HELL i'm doing those myself lol!

Can't remember if it was this thread or not, but the baggy idea sounded pretty helpful. She separated out her meds into daily baggies, so she could just grab a bag each day! Also made it easier for her to tell if she was running low on anything. Genius!

  • @babylonghorn16 that was me that put everything in the baggies! It has helped SO much! Even though I do my injections myself, my DH will grab the baggie and set everything out on the counter for me so he feels like he is my "assistant" and I'm not worried that anything is missing. It really cuts down on the time to do the injections too, which can be helpful after a long day! You and your DH will be pros in no time! My DH likes to joke that I would be a good druggie since I've gotten so good at "shooting myself up" lol!

  • @mtpbadger  I DO totally have this!  Thanks, sounds like you are full of follicles, yippee! @PrincessSabert at this point I will do whatever it takes to get done. Thanks to everyone that helped me get over my first (probably of many) freak outs!

So last I woke up every one to two hours just drenched in sweat.I had to change my shirt several times, it was crazy. Anyone else have any side effects like this? I'm not sure if its the menopur, follistim or maybe that Dex a something steroid?

Me & DH - 41, DH has a cyst blocking his tubes, I'm just old.
    IVF #1 scheduled May 2016 - 375/525 follistim, 75 menopur - cancelled cycle Day 6
    IVF #2 scheduled July 2016 - new protocol, switcharoo...IUI June 2016 - BFN
IVF#3 scheduled August 2016 - estrogen & testosterone primed for 3 wks - ganirelix 7 days leading up to stim - 500 follistim, 75 menopur, 150 clomid , no follicle growth on day 6, stopped injectibles. Scanned day 9 just to check, some growth, 3 days 200 mg clomid, day 12 more growth, 100 follistim, 75 menopur, start ganirelix on day 13, ER = 0 eggs, ovulated to soon ( :( )
IVF#4 scheduled Sept 2016 - Microdose Flare protocol, cancelled stim day 6 converted to IUI (one dominant follicle)  :(  IUI cancelled ovulated too soon again. Taking a mental health break.
IVF#5 December 2016 - New protocol, same results. My adventure is over.

  • @caseyw8784 someone should probably start a June/July one if their cycle fails in May? There's already an April/may group so no need to repeat may I'm thinking?
  • @Drove2u good point! and yes, i think i had seen the march/april thread, and forgot that this one included may. i would blame it on the meds or on pregnancy brain, but i haven't started stimming yet! it's just a end-of-the-week friday brain, i guess...
  • @KirstenCas I had similar symptoms with gonal-f.   Night sweats and dizziness. Fun!

  • Anyone have symptoms with Lupron? I start with 20 units on Sunday, and I'm a little nervous. Looked up side-effects online and of course everything under the sun was listed!

@KirstenCas sorry you're having night sweats! Never fun. I thought I remembered seeing that listed as a side-effect of Menopur. Don't quote me on that though. Hope it was just a one time deal!

  • @KirstenCas I take dexamethasone (for managing inflammation during stimming). I took it throughout my last cycle as well, but I'm only taking .25 mg and if I have experienced any side effects I haven't noticed (all of the changes could be attributed to the injections as well). I get night sweats too. They don't seem to be as bad now that my Lupron dose has gone down to 5 units, but they could be caused by the dexa. From what I have read they are typical.

@Kellyfish79 We're doing the same thing (back to back stim cycles for ER) for the exact same reasons. We have one high grade PGS normal frozen embie from our first cycle also. Congrats on the PGS results and good luck with your next cycle!
  • @babylonghorn16 I haven't had a whole lot of side effects, except for a low grade headache (maybe a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10) that's almost constant. I don't bleed from these syringes cuz they are so small, and the Lupron itself stings a little bit for a couple minutes and then is fine.

  • It is so exciting to see everyone's cycles progressing. We will all be in the TWW in no time.

AFM - went to the doctor's this morning. My follicles are measuring in between 12-16 right now. My RE thinks that I will have 2 more days of stims and then trigger on the second day. That means I would trigger on  Sunday and my retrieval would be on Tuesday! It will be here before I know it. Thank goodness because I am so sore and exhausted all the time I am not sure how much more of this I can take.

  • Hi all!!  Not sure if I'm in the right group. It seems like ya'll are several weeks ahead of me. I just started injections last night (Follostim and Menopur). I've got my next US and BW on Tuesday. Expecting ER on or around the 12th. Anyone else have similar timing??  And I'm wondering about the side effects I should expect from the meds, what're ya'll's experiences?  This is my first IVF cycle after 3 failed IUIs. FX this time around!!!
  • Has anyone taken the injections with them out to a restaurant? I started injections last night and have an evening with the girls planned for tonight. I'm tempted to cancel so I can stay home and inject between 7-9 per doc orders. But I might try to take them with me and inject in the ladies room. What have you guys done in this situation?
  • @kyrgyzshan I would say you can totally take them in the bathroom or car. I have done it in both places it's where ever you feel comfortable. Don't cancel your plans hair excuse ur self for a few minutes. Have fun
  • @kyrgyzshan Welcome! I had a bit of irritability and some headaches with my stims. Some people gain weight as well. I would totally take your meds with you. Just remember to bring an alcohol wipe with you and either excuse yourself to the bathroom or the car. Enjoy!

  • My doc told me to do mine at home before I go anywhere. We always did them at 8:30 but when I had plans to go out I would sometimes do them at 6 or 7. He said a few hours don't matter. The trigger shot was the only timely one and had to be done exactly when they say.

  • @tusername not yet! Follies are continuing to grow and I go back tomorrow morning for monitoring. I'm guessing ER will either be the 3rd or 4th. DH's birthday is on the 3rd and I've been joking that I'm giving him lots of eggs for his present lol.
That is awesome your MIL will be there to help you! So many of us are getting so close!!
