Groin Pain and at times sharp pain underneath belly

I am 36 weeks and I stated having bad groin pain a few days ago.  It hurts when I walk, when I stand up from sitting, and when I shift positions in my sleep.  Pretty much all the time.  At times I have sharp pain underneath my belly.  Anyone else experienced this or experiencing this? If so what did you do or have been doing?

Re: Groin Pain and at times sharp pain underneath belly

  • It's just the wonderful pain that comes with being in the last weeks of pregnancy. Drink lots water, get your rest and take some Tylenol if the pain bothers you that much. If you're really worried then you should talk to your doctor.

I think at this point we're all feeling this, some more than others. Six years ago when I was pregnant with my son it was a minor annoyance. This time I'm 36 and it hurts like nothing else. Oh well. It won't be long now.

  • I have been dealing with this exact issue for weeks now. Normally it'll come on strong then pop then I'm fine until I stand up again. Yesterday it was constant. I've been seeing a chiropractor and he showed me how to stretch my round legiment so I had my husband do it for me last night and today I have no pain. I know it's late in the game but seeing a chiropractor has helped me, see if you can find a prenatal one or Google home remedies for round legiment pain. It hurts like hell when I see him but I'm not waddling and the pain is manageable.
  • I have this too, I think its from baby's head being so low.
  • It's called baby pushing down lower :)

  • This could mean dialation. I have had that this week and when they checked me I had gone from no cervical change to 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced.
  • I've felt like this for weeks. Just baby getting big and low.

  • I have something very similar, but mines like a shooting pain from my cervix through my groin and my legs almost give out for a split second and then I catch myself, it subsides when I lay down. Almost like I need to relieve some pressure off my cervix
  • I've had that as well. Not fun.
  • I ended up going to a chiropractor specialized in the Webster Technique.  So it appears that it is not my groin that is in pain but rather my pelvic bone loosening, and that it is not aligned as it should be.  He did some adjustment on it, that was not comfortable at all.  I'll be continuing to go back to him until end of pregnancy, and also will see an acupuncturist, and do a few exercises such as pelvic tilts, and inversion.  Also the chiropractor told me I should not be crossing my legs.  I go to my OBGYN today, I'll see if what she says about it.

    Have you been feeling contractions?
  • Hoping you start getting some relief! The Webster technic is highly recommended and my doula loves it. Good luck!
  • My doctor said that it is a combination of the baby moving into position (dropping), him/her irritating nerves (which is the sharp, horrible shooting pain), and our pelvis loosening in order to be able to deliver.  I'm 39 weeks and have been dealing with this for almost a month now.
