I was told this morning that someone "has never met someone who enjoys being pregnant as much as you do" ... This is probably true. Anyone else with me? It might be hard to say already if you're a FTM, but last pregnancy and this one, I just love it all. I feel like I'm glowing today.
I probably am.. because I busted out maternity jeans and a maternity top - makes it look like I'm showing more because nothing it cutting my blump in half like usual. Also, I have Cadbury mini eggs in my bag. Booyeah.
I'm loving it too girl I feel super happy almost all the time- it's bizarre lol! I have people telling me I look awesome- when they don't even know I'm prego. Or maybe they do and I just don't know it! Either way, I'll take it
This babe will go directly into his/her nursery in their crib. It worked perfectly for my son, slept 3+ hours stretches from night 1, woke to nurse and asleep again by the end.
That being said... this one may never sleep, in which case we will do whatever works. Buy a rocknplay, let baby sleep in swing, etc. Don't plan to cosleep as my husband is a very deep sleeper and would increase the risk... but in the words of the Bieb... never say neverrrrr.
I had a wonderful afternoon! 12 week appt went great! Got to hear LO's heartbeat, a lovely 162 bpm. Blood pressure was great (I have high BP, so this is always a concern for me), I'm done with my progesterone suppositories, and we FB announced!
And to add to everything, while at Barnes and Noble getting a big sister book for DD, I found this:
Ohh ew some of my kids at MDO bring lunchables and they gross me out!!
And am I the only one whose baby won't have a nursery? He/she will share our room for at least 6 months and then share with either big sister or brother until we get a new house with more bedrooms. I will miss decorating for it, but makes it easier to go team green.
This is us. We have a 2 bedroom house. So baby will be with us in our room for 6 months or so. I'm actually mostly looking forward to it.
^^^ I'm dying at this! And check twatwaffle Tuesday..
Found it! There's some serious old school snark over in July. Just like the old days before the exodus. I feel very comfortable over here all of a sudden. At least now I will recognize all the dirty lurkers' screen names.
I also found it, and agree it's more like before the exodus, but still nothing compared to what I've seen (I mean, seriously, that had nothing on an old Parenting invasion). And, I'm sorry, but I'm on July16's side. If a noob came in and started shit and insulting our board, I wouldn't take kindly to it. And the other poster made it about herself. No one called her out, and she decided to get offended and start a fight. Maybe I still have to much mindset left from my first BMB, but it's hard for me to imagine not sticking up for you girls if something similar happened here.
So we rented the movie "Room" last night and OMG. I ugly cried so hard I was shaking. Don't know if it was worse because I'm pregnant, but good grief. It was a really good movie, but it was tough to watch.

I watched the movie last night too... By myself... Because I was prepared for sobbing. I got nothing. Maybe I psyched it up too much in my head? Plus my anxiety was off the charts watching it haha.

@camichael84 we have pride and prejudice, wuthering heights and Anna karenina from that line of books. Not my son's favorites but they crack me up and I love classic novels.

It made me super anxious, too. I've been really weepy this pregnancy anyway. One of the first things that made me think I might be pregnant was watching Big Fish, which I've seen a million times. I cried spontaneously during parts that don't usually make me cry. I was like um.... Wait.

@TNgoldengirl you're def not the only one! We live in a small one bedroom apartment in nyc and currently have a corner available for LO near the bedroom. It's kind of a nook/ corner that we plan to clear out... I hope it works out cause I don't think we can find. 2 bedroom in as good of a location for same price.

@AnnaS930 They only had Pride & Prejudice at the store I was at. I'm going to have to see what else they have. It cracks me up, too. But I love Pride & Prejudice and hope this will get her started early.
@Themaritimemama and @runningisrad- I read the book earlier this year but haven't seen the movie yet. I didn't find the book to make me tearful (but books tend to do that less than movies for me.. and I wasn't pregnant at the time).
Currently reading Me Before You at work.. from the previews of the movie I was expecting it to be set back in the 1800s, not sure what I missed that made me think that. Then I start reading and it's in the 2000's. Surprise! The book is good so far!
@camichael84- we found them at a music store/used book store/etc that's local to our area. When I got home and googled them they have SO MANY! I had to hold back from ordering more, but we'll probably pick up whatever we see. Pride and Prejudice is probably his favorite of the 3 we have.
So I think the flu has claimed me as it's second victim. And this is day 5 of being alone in the house with our toddler, who has of course bounced back to her lively self now. I don't know how I'm gonna get through this day. Efffffffffff....

I haven't started yet! It's on my list to start this weekend because my hub is on call for work.

So sorry that you're filling ill. I hope it passes through you quickly. My youngest is sick - running a 103.5 fever for the last 3 days. Solid ferris bueller gif though!

FFFC - It's a conferences day at school and I'm done my conferences. Totally projecting Fuller House and grading papers. I haven't had a chance to watch at home yet

I also live in a one bed room (outside DC) and will not have a real nursery. We do have a "den" but it will be just big enough to put all baby things but not the baby (maybe). We need to purge like 1/4 of everything in here to make room, I have not got excited to buy baby things for this reason...
I had a huge crush on Cameron growing up - I think Ferris is supposed to be the attractive one in the movie. Nope.
Also - perhaps some coloring for the little one? A little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or whatever her show of choice is. Lots of quiet activities where mama doesn't need to move much.
I woke up with little/no bump (probably from sleeping mostly on my stomach). It's now 10am, and I look significantly more pregnant than yesterday.. and it's a bump I can't suck in regardless of how hard I try. The bump is HERE!
@TheTamedShrewSorry to hear you've got the flu, now, too! What a rough week you've had...and sounds like it's only going to get worse before it gets better. Hang in there, Mama!
@JennM205 Room is about a woman who was abducted, held prisoner, and routinely raped, told from the perspective of her 5 yr old son, born in captivity as a result. All he has ever known as the world is the one room they have to live in. I really liked it, but it is an intense read.
@JennM205 what @Jabreen said. I didn't read the book but watched the movie and it was rough. The last book I read was The Nightingale and I loved it. Before that, Stephen King's 11/22/63, which was probably the best King book I've read in 20 years.

@JennM205- The perspective from a child who thinks the entire world is contained in this room he is in, as @Jabreensaid is so well done and fascinating. The book was really really good, and a pretty quick read, but it is intense, not sure if it's a pregnancy book. The Martian was really entertaining, and I just read The Fifth Wave, but that was mediocre at best.
@runningisrad@MaritimeMama3 I need to see that movie! I know I'm going to ugly cry like crazy, but I'm prepared. I hadn't really heard about it until the Oscars and now it's on my must-see list!
I haven't seen the movie Room yet, but the book was terribly emotional, but incredibly good! I can't wait to see the movie and hope it lives up to the original. I definitely recommend it!
I feel like my belly is becoming more bump-like. I'm also an apple shape, so I carry all of my roundness in my belly, but I'm getting a little poochy-bump in my lower abdomen. It's not noticeable to any outsiders, but it sure feels exciting to me! I'm curious and excited to see how I'll look in 4ish weeks when I'm laying in those Florida beaches! It's probably the first time EVER that I'm kind of excited to show off my growing belly!
@PoodleDoodleOoo I am pear-shaped and fluffy in the belly, so you can only see my "bump" if I mash down the chubby upper part of my belly. I popped around 24 weeks with my daughter, so I'm hoping this time I might pop a little sooner since everyone tells me subsequent pregnancies show sooner! I want my bump now!

Thanks for the "Room" synopsis, ladies. I remember hearing about it now. Definitely sounds like a great read...and is officially on my list...but I'm thinking it'd be better to wait for after pregnancy for something so intense. I'm going to the library with DD tomorrow (to check out some Big Sister books and finally, officially tell her that I'm pregnant) and hoping I can find something interesting. I mean, that shouldn't be hard, right? With thousands of books in one place? But somehow it's never easy!
I still need to read "The Martian". We bought it, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm now going to add "Room" to my lists of must reads. It sounds really interesting. I also got Amy Poehler's book for Christmas and need to read that. I'm kind of slacking on my reading lately. 8 pm bedtimes didn't help with that, but I'm really feeling back to myself the last couple of days.
@jennm205 I could happily spend all day at the library or a bookstore picking out books. The library is one of my happy places. I get it from my dad. Hoping to instill a good love of books into my children as well.
@TheTamedShrew nooooo I'm so sorry you have the flu now! That's awful..hope you get better asap!
I'm torn about watching The Room. I steer away from all drama and sad movies, but occasionally I'm in the mood. After reading Jaycee Dugard's story, I'm pretty scarred for life on those kind of torturous kidnapping details. Anyone else read that?
I don't think the movie shows as much about that, and more about the redemption story, but it'll probably be a while before I try it.
I found the "snarky" thread on a diff BMB and I have to say I didn't really find it that entertaining. I guess snark isn't really what I hang around the bump for and I prefer my drama to funnel through my Netflix stream than a discussion forum. I'll take our rainbows, puppies, glitter and hugs board over the pointless name calling, finger pointing any day.
Also, I can't remember which thread this was brought up on, and I'm sorry to be bringing it up again, but you know what I'm talking about.
On another note, I'm thinking of starting a daycare/childcare thread - is anyone else starting to look into childcare options or is it too early to discuss this?
@camichael84I, too, hope to instill my love of books with my children! I DEVOURED books as a kid and young adult. My reading has slowed in the past couple years...though I can't quite put my finger on why....?? But I still try to read as often as I can and we definitely read to DD any time possible. So far she loves books but I'm not sure how much of that is just a toddler loving books and how much is a start of a love of actually reading, though I hope it's the latter.

@AnnaS930I just got my email notification from the library that mine is ready to pick up! Grabbing it on the way home and as DH is working late tonight, I'm going to start binge reading it tonight!
@LakeR2014 - It's an easy read and pretty good so far. A bit predictable, but I don't think you're picking it up looking for some shocking revelation at each turn of the page. Definitely holding my attention.

Proud to say DD is already into this book.I loved Spaghettios as a kid. Can't stand them now. But I have always hates Chef Boyardee ravioli. It smells and looks so gross.
I couldn't find the recommended snark either. There was a lot to fish through, so I'll need specifics to find it.
Me trying to find the snarky posts to lurk on:
