  • I can't stand people who correct grammar of someone else in a conversation it's so rude and unnecessary! DH does this all the time and drives me up the wall! If you understand what I am trying to say than let it go.

  • @Lindsayleigh1989 I am guilty of doing this with my husband, but only when we are alone. I would never want to embarrass him in front of someone else. Also, it's only when he uses a word completely out of context. I will offer the word I think he meant to use, and tell him what the word he used actually means. He really is a smart man, but we excel in completely different things, and language has never been his strong point.

If it helps, I always try to be very gentle about it. I'm never saying it to make him feel bad, I just think if I can correct him instead of someone else it may soften the blow.
  • @Nerdchild yeah it's one thing if it's gentle but telling me I'm corrected so I don't teach my child poor English ( I have a freaking masters degree I'm not terrible with the spoken language ) is not the way to do it ;)

If I didn't take medication while pregnant I wouldn't survive. I am allergic to my fetus and need those meds so I am not covered in hives. I also did a course of steroids for my back and those are class C drugs. Like @BostonBaby1 said benefit to mom outweigh the risks.

That is utterly terrifying (being allergic to your fetus). Sorry you are having to worry about that at all. Add this to the list of weird/scary shit I never knew pregnancy could entail.

Yea it is super rare and goes away within hours of delivery. My allergist thinks it is the coolest. It is one of the ways I knew I was pregnant.

    I agree 100%
I was in a meeting a few years ago when I first started at the police department with about 8 detectives. I made the comment "well me and Amy are going to that training..." My sergeant cut me off mid sentence and said "you mean "Amy and I..."
I was so embarrassed and pissed about it... It was a completely informal monthly meeting and made me feel like such an idiot.
I suppose there's a time and a place to correct someone but we're all grown adults and I didn't need the School House Rock grammar lesson.

  • Also, I work with abused women who are often 100% cut off from the finances when/if they decide to leave. This includes women (previously) in high income brackets... They leave the relationship with their designer hand bags and fancy phones and then have nothing. So the next time you see someone using food stamps carrying an iPhone and a coach bag, maybe check your ridiculous judgement and consider she just escaped a deadly relationship. Sheesh.

I didn't mean to imply that everyone on assistance is squandering their money on frivolous things, so I'm sorry if that's how it came across. I understand that there are many people in terrible situations and people who just need some extra help to get by until they can get back on their feet. I respect those people and they are the reason the system exists. However, I think we all know that there are people who abuse the system. There are people that think that have a right to whatever lifestyle they want, regardless of whether or not they can afford it. I am a person who believes in living within your means (assuming you have the means to provide yourself with food, shelter, and necessities.)

I get that the way I described it sounds like I'm judging anyone with nice things and government assistance and I apologize for that. Really, it's the people that take advantage of the system that really frustrate me.

Can we pull back on the circ debate? It's needs to be cut off already

My FFFC is that I've been driving around with an expired driving license for 2 months. That's only a suggestion right?

It's only illegal if you get caught.
  • @thebigoaktree FIFY

Stop being such a stick in the mud
The last comment made was only a couple above mine, and I have this weird feeling that its not the end of discussion in here.
  • I actually said I liked the pun....

NBD unless you get pulled over or in an accident which hopefully won't happen.

    I'm feelin' your pun.

Best Advice (well besides "deny, deny, deny") is : don't do something illegal while you're doing something illegal!!
  • Alright @thebigoaktree, you said foreskin and popcorn in the same sentence and my messed up brain amalgamated the two. Popcorn; ruined.
  • Very interesting visual now.

You bring the popcorn I'll bring the jokes and gifs.
  • You ladies make me realize the women around me are really boring.

That's the nicest way someone has ever described my mental vomit! :)
  • @Y0urm0m I look forward to this with a combination of anticipation and disgust. Disgustipation.
  • @tm14 yes yes and yes. My sister for the first time is experiencing our mothers narcissistic rage and struggling with it. I've always been the scapegoat of the family so I'm used to it and went low contact five years ago. Sometimes you have to cut someone off regardless of familial ties.
  • My FFFC is that I'm super craving chocolate, but we have no candy, cookies, etc. in the house. So I found a can of chocolate icing and grabbed a spoon. Not sorry.

Put it on saltines (if you have some handy) weirdly tasty

Hmmm... I don't have any, but I'll have to add them to the grocery list for tomorrow!
  • @soberkfell And then put the chocolate (or honey + peanut butter) on the unsalted side and eat them salt side down. I promise, it's so good.

I already know where I fall on the circumcision if this baby turns out to be a boy, but I am SO in for the puns and gifs. Penis puns are always funny.

As for EBT, some people game the system, but most don't. And there are many reasons someone might be getting assistance, from hard times to fostering a child. We can all probably agree that the system needs reformation, but it does a lot of good for a lot of families that need the help.
