Would any ladies be interested in sharing their nursery pics whilst it's still a work in progress up to the end-result?
DH and his friend is clearing ours out today so I am super excited to start and wouldn't mind seeing everyone else's progress!
Maybe we can also ask/give tips/share specials etc.
I was thinking doing a weekly/fortnightly thread to share updates.
Let me know if anyone is keen.
Re: Nursery - Fortnightly Updates?
I would personally love hearing ideas. And will need them especially if it's a girl. I have so many boy room ideas and zero for girls.
Some of the things I'm buying.
I'm obsessed with the mobile in the third pic and that became my inspiration. Equally obsessed with the "hello" rug!
After the new year we are starting g on cleaning out the spare room and will start buying some things.
I think grey and white is the colours of the season!
I bought this cot and compactum - will be delivered from Cape Town next week!
We haven't actually started clearing out the room we are using for the nursery yet, but I've got a plan in mind.
The room is already painted a pastel yellow, which we are going to stick with (it glows when the sun shines through the room! So pretty!) My mom says she still has the rocking horse my grandfather made for me when I was born, and my itty bitty toddler-sized rocking chair, so I've decided to use those and go with a vintage theme. There are shelves up by the ceiling, where I'm planning on storing small wooden toys and some old book classics that I've been collecting over the years. If I can find some old blocks (or some really neat ones that just look old), I plan on spelling out the baby's name with them somewhere.
The carpet is an awful shade of pink that we can't afford to replace anytime soon, so I'm hoping to find a somewhat inexpensive rug to put on the floor. My mom gave me the old chair that she rocked me in, which will go with the overall theme.
A lot of the stuff we will be using are things that I either already own or have been passed down through the family, so I'm hoping that'll save us a lot money-wise. I also like that some of the items in there will have a history to them. All I've gotta do is figure out what to do with the stuff that is currently sitting in that room. :P
(Edited because I initially was going to attach a picture but it didn't work and now it won't let me at all, so I changed the wording around to make a bit more sense.)
Our "nursery" was a mess! This room was my season decor storage, so from sceletons for Halloween, pumpkins for thanksgiving and 12ft and 9ft christmas tree - Everything was in there! We started decluttering by each and every holiday so since our Christmas stuff is finally up, the room is a blank canvas!!! We already have a crib ( my husband already has teenage sons so it's kind of sentimental to me having all kids sleeping in the same crib) bought a dresser from ikea and some storage bins from home goods. That's it for now. Everything will be white/taupe. Can't wait to start our wainscoting project and if it's a girl, add a little chandelier! The attached pic is what I have in mind with taupe painted walls on top.
I will be painting second week of January and will post pictures.
We've got a lot of rearranging to do, as our son is still in the crib. We need to basically switch out the twin bed in the guest room with his baby furniture. The guest room will become the nursery, and big brother gets his "big boy" room! Hoping to recruit my BIL and SIL to help with furniture moving when they're here over Christmas--of course, that means I'm not sure where everyone will sleep, since FIL is usually in the guest room at Christmas. We do have a pull-out in the living room, so someone will probably just have to sleep there.
I want to go with a woodland theme. We didn't decorate our son's nursery right away, because we moved when he was 4 months old. Now his room is the nicest one in the house, LOL! But I'm looking forward to this little one having a nice space from the get-go.
I do have a suggestion of if you do a theme, don't go over board with it. Use it for the accents, not the main stuff. It makes it so much easier to make the room grow with the child.

No new update, but just ordered these prints. Those little things excites me so much!
We haven't actually started yet, but we are hoping to clean out our home office and start on it after the first of the year. I'll post more pics when we get started, but this is kind of what we're going for:
Edited (twice!) because I'm still trying to figure out this new Bump system.
DH decided, since it's a boy, to do vintage car prints - so I will change our idea slightly to incorporate this new one as well.
Should we keep this thread active or do one each month with new pics? Opinions please
