  • How did you hang your mobile? Is that from the ceiling? I'm making my own and haven't decided how to hang yet but yours looks great!!

Working in building crib and stuff today but i
had to show off what I just scored in tj maxx!! They had soooo much elephant stuff!

Edit to add- now that I see it in pic form, I notice a lot of the elephants are upside down. Not sure yet if it is bothering me. Does it bother anyone else? This wasn't expensive, but not cheaper either ($60) so don't want to keep it if it is glaringly "wrong"

I think it's a cute pattern of one row right side up/one row upside elephants. Super cute find. I think you should keep it.
  • @yogahh what if you switch the top and bottom drawer? It looks like that's how the pattern connects?

    Good eye!

  • @Kennedy0830 The mint looks very pretty. I did a mint accent wall to go behind the crib.
  • For 60 bucks the elephants being upside down would bother me but it is pretty cute though...
  • My sons will be sharing a room and I'm thinking of doing a planes trains and automobiles theme. I'm hoping to make a lot of the decorations myself!

  • Thought I'd share this amazing idea I saw on April '16 moms board:
TEMPAPER https://www.tempaperdesigns.com/ is temporary, easy to install wallpaper in gorgeous patterns that is perfect for an accent wall especially if you're renting or don't want to commit to painting or permanent wallpaper. I'm definitely thinking of ordering some samples for the wall behind baby's crib.
  • @yogahh if you have Hobby Lobby near you, they have great coral accent decor. I also painted a couple of things using a 'sample' can of paint
  • yogahh LOVE IT!  I just cracked up at the bag that's labeled "stuff"  totally my kind of organization!!

We have a nursery!!! Now to get my coral accents like a rug and some wall decor. But the barebones is done!

Super cute. You should get a coral rug and a set or curtains to match. I love curtains. That would look super good with the white. @yogahh

I have been on the hunt for a coral rug for a few weeks now. Its harder to find than though. Might have to change to pink instead, but yes, thats the plan! Coral rug, some sort of curtain with coral in it, coral bins ( I love storage bins!). The prints I have are all elephants with coral in it for the walls. This is the fun part :)

@yogahh wayfair is my go-to for trying to find specific colors/styles of things since they have such a huge inventory. and free shipping! I bet if you search "coral area rug" and narrow down the options by size/price you might have some luck. good luck!
  • @yogahh, I don't know if you're looking for something brighter, but if you want a more neutral rug with coral, Target has this one: https://www.target.com/p/threshold-medallion-area-rug/-/A-16680447#prodSlot=_1_26 Urban Outfitters has some great statement rugs if you're looking for something more bold. Wayfair and Overstock are great places to look too.

Thats cute! I think I am just being super specific. I want something shaggy so she can crawl and play on it, and it would be super comfy. I have some time at least.I guess that is what Ill spend this snowy weekend inside doing!

I did see this one on overstock I like. While not shaggy, its a great price. Just kinda small...

That sounds like a great idea-- the one you linked is super cute too! This definitely has me thinking that I can get DH to agree to a new area rug for the nursery, especially since we don't have furniture costs and such to budget for this time. We got an extremely cheap flatwoven one for DS, and after about 1.5yrs of abuse, it looks crappy so I just took it out of the room.

I am doing a super hero theme as my son and daughter will be sharing a room. This is our progress so far on the painting. I will have white furniture and really looking forward to my son's reaction to the room. This is also being done as a transition to his big boy bed!
You painted this? I am incredibly impressed!

No I wish I was that talented! I have a friend doing it for me for pretty much peanuts!
  • Ladies... especially @yogahh because I thought of you when I saw these elephants... so this website www.babybedding.com (Carousel Designs) has an option you can create your own bedding, drapes, decor, etc by mixing and matching all the colors they offer and it has a feature to change the walls/floor/crib color so you can get an idea of what it will look like. I am going to be on here allllll night. Hope this helps some of you like it has for me.
  • I love that grey is so in right now! I'm loving all the soothing nursery designs!

Yes! It has a little more character than white, but it's still neutral enough to do any sort of accent colors you want. We're doing lilac as the main color with teal accents most likely. I need to get the furniture and the walls painted before deciding beyond lilac for more colors.

I was going to get a less girly crib, but I saw that one in store and fell in love with it. Thankfully my husband didn't veto and is embracing the girliness. I am not in love with the handles on the dresser so may look for others to switch it up.
  • I figured I'd ask this here as to not clog the board with a small question... we are finishing most of the nursery this weekend. My question is do you ladies plan on washing all bedding before it goes on the crib as well as baby clothes? I don't want to ruin anything before its even used but I was her sheets clean and soft. Thoughts?

I'm a STM and I washed everything with my first: bedding, clothes, you name it. If I could go back I would still wash the bedding and most other things, but I wouldn't have washed my new baby clothes. It was such a headache keeping the outfits together. I ruined a couple of them... Don't ask. But if I would have left them on the hangers I would have had the ease of just picking out the outfits.
  • @kp90 I will be. I remember working in retail and that stuff gets passed around so many trucks and people that it's just better to wash it all ahead of time.

I'm going to wash all the bedding and some baby clothes ahead of time. I don't have that much as far as clothes at this point but I think I'll wash a week's worth of newborn/0-3 month onesies to prepare for baby but hold off on washing all of the clothes in case he doesn't fit in something and I want to return it.

I washed everything! From curtains, cribskirt, bedding, to clothes and even stuffed animals. Just want to make sure everything is perfect for baby's arrival. Maybe it's just me nesting and having another reason to go into the nursery. Clothes came out perfect by the way. Gentle washing program. I have stuff from Carters, buy buy Baby, Janie and Jack and Macy's. From high end to low end, nothing faded or got smaller...
  • Awesome. Thank you ladies! I will be washing all her bedding tonight probably and maybe start on some clothes this weekend. Might invest in some baby detergent although I'm not sure if that's necessary... all I stock at home is Tide.

@kp90 I tend to wash everything (new or not), generally on cold so as to not bleed or fade colors, then dry on a longer, low setting so that things don't shrink or get weird. My exception to this is when there are potentially sanitary issues with laundry like sickness or used towels-- those get the high temperature wash. I remember using Shout color-catching sheets with DS's clothes when I washed them the first time too since I just threw everything in by size (they worked well!).
ETA we use Tide free on everything in the household, no special baby perfumed stuff here.
