speaking of bra's, what brand are you guys wearing? I got a few of the "Loving moments" brand and they suck! or do they all suck? am I destined to have saggy feeling/looking breasts until I'm through breastfeeding?
I've found the sports bra style nursing bras are the best. The other, regular style, ones are uncomfortable and make my boobs look weird and lumpy.
I like the seamless nursing bras from motherhood. They're super comfy and pretty supportive (I have big boobs).

Cake. Have two of them (racer back bras, not ediblely delicious cake... Although I wouldn't mind haha) They are expensive but worth it... So comfortable. The girls look great in them too
Anyone else dealing with long comfort sucking? DS with Latch and eat for the first 10-20mins then he just stays on the boob for like another hour just to comfort suck. If I try and remove it from his mouth he flips out. I have tried substituting a pacifier, both shapes, and have tried putting milk on the pacifier before giving it to him. I understand that's it's comforting to him and all but it makes my nipples so raw and tender from the long term sucking. Any suggestions or advice?
Have you tried different paci. We went through like 3 or 4 different brands before finding one he wold suck on for more than 5 min. I got him some mam ones the a couple weeks ago and he loves them, he will suck on it for hour+, he keeps it in for his naps and most of the night.
I have not. Where did you find them?
We use those and got them from Walmart.
Qbf---------- My LO also loves Mam and I get them from Amazon.

I think you can get them almost anywhere. I got mine at target, I have seen them at bbb, and bru.
Anyone suffering from clogged ducts continuously? I have had a lump in my right breast several times. I use heat, massage it out, and try to squeeze every time I pump to ensure I pump until I'm empty. I EP and it's always just one side. I never have a problem with my left side. I always pump more on my left. After I get it out, I feel bruised for a few days. Then it's okay for another few days. Then it's back. My goal was to EP for 3 months, my LO is 8 weeks, but this is so painful. I can't sleep on that side, can't hold my LO to my chest, hurts to wear a bra. Any tips? Could it be something I'm doing wrong? Does anyone know why it could just be one side?
I EP'd with my first and had issues with clogged ducts. I ended up taking a sunflower lecithin supplement I ordered off of amazon. I'm pretty sure there was info on how to take it on kellymom.com. It definitely made a difference for me though. It's been a couple years so I don't remember how much I took or anything. Good luck!
Question for those who have weaned before with breastfeeding and switched to formula 100% - I plan on EBF still, if all goes well, until my LO is five months. I then would like to introduce formula slowly, and have her on formula completely by six months. Would you recommend replacing one feed a day initially for one week, then two the next week and so on? That way my breasts adjust and she adjusts slowly as well? I would prefer to wean over some time rather than abruptly stop all of a sudden. Just wondering other peoples experiences and what worked best for you ...
Ladies, I EBF but have just started pumping for the occasional bottle. I'm having some trouble with my flanges and think they are either too big or too small. I can center my nipple when the pump is off, but as soon as I turn it on it seems to pull my areola in and then my nipple rubs on the side. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any tips?
Hi ladies My son Jackson is 7 weeks and we haven't had any major issues nursing so far. Starting last night he has been beyond fussy with the breast. He wants to feed but won't latch (or will latch and pull off after a short time) and is getting really upset. Most times we get there but I feel like I'm forcing the guy. He's having wet diapers and poops so I think he's getting enough. I think it's because I've come down with a stomach bug. I'm finally starting to be able to keep things down (with in the last couple of hours)but everything was coming up all morning, all of the water I was taking in. I'm slowly trying to become hydrated so I don't throw up again. Do you think that me being under the weather is affecting my nursing. It makes sense to me because it's all of a sudden, just looking to see if anyone else may have experienced this or has some other ideas. Thanks in advance!

Try smaller flanges. I also had to get smaller ones, once I did I didn't have any pain and I pumped more.

Idk about the taste changing, but your body should be able to compensate for a few days in order for you feed baby. My LO got fussy with breast feeding around 2 months, constantly latching and unlatching to scream.

Sounds like the flanges are too big. They aren't supposed to pull areola in too. I believe your standard pump will come with a 24mm flange & the next size down is a 21mm. I ordered some off of amazon! They definitely are more comfortable.
My LO constantly has an upset stomach when she eats. She she gets half way through her bottle and starts screaming. She won't eat, she takes forever to burp because she's screaming. Then after she burps she still won't eat. She just refuses the bottle and screams. I've talked to the Dr and she says maybe you're just feeding her too much and she doesn't want the rest. (Because she gained 18 ounces in 2 weeks). I think that's rediculous because I can feel and hear her belly rumbling then she screams. I try to comfort her and she almost falls asleep because it seems like she's exhausted from screaming. Then she will jolt up and I hear her belly rumbling again and she starts screaming. I've tried to change my diet and eat healthy. Baked meats, vegetables, etc. No fast food, greasy food, anything that might upset her stomach. I'm at a total loss. The doctor thinks she's fine bc she's gaining weight really good. I know there is something else going on. There are times when she just isn't hungry and pushes the bottle out, but then she smiles and talks and is in a great mood. Also, her stomach isn't rumbling. Any ideas?

A rumbling stomach in a baby doesn't mean they are hungry. It means their digestive system is working away! I googled this when I heard my LO's stomach making tons of noise. So I think you should listen to your doctor and your baby. Especially if she's gaining that well and having enough wet and dirty diapers.

Thanks. I have this same issue but it was never painful so I just have been ignoring it. I think I'll try the smaller flanges and hopefully will pump more!
No, I think I woreded that wrong. She is hungry, and starts sucking down the bottle, her stomach only rumbles after she starts eating. Then she screams after eating a small amount, despite being hungry still. And other times she eats fine, no rumbling, no screaming. A friend of mine told me about silent reflux, it sounds exactly like what she does 100%

Going to talk to the Dr Monday.
I was going to say silent reflux. Of course her stomach rumbles when she starts eating- because her digestive system is working to digest the milk.
Well that was short lived. LO had decided last Sunday he was done with the nipple shield (I'd tried to stop using it multiple times before and he wouldn't latch). He latched and ate without much problem. Then yesterday he got so hangry he forgot how to latch and I put the shield on. And now this morning he won't eat without it - won't even try to latch even though he's hungry. Boo. Hope he'll go back to accepting nipple sans shield. I'm planning to keep offering the boob without a shield first and if he won't latch then I'll put it on.
So I unfortunately got Mastitis. 10 weeks later. I felt like I was going to die for about 36 hours and now I feel okayish. My left boob is still tight and painful and I'm quite dizzy but that's it. I was wondering if you have to take antibiotics for it to go away? I found multiple answers online and I'm just not sure.

from everything I've heard and read yes, if you have mastitis you need antibiotics, and should start asap to help relieve your symptoms, if it's feeling better could just be a blocked milk duct. I'd call your doc right away and try and get something prescribed if that's whats needed.

Get antibiotics. Ignoring mastitis can lead to abscesses. You'll have to go under general anesthesia to have them taken care of. It's no joke.
What do you mommas do when your LO starts sleeping through the night. For the last week Elliot has been sleeping 7 to 8.5 hours without waking up. I wake up and my boobs feel like they're going to burst!! I EP and usually pump every 6 hours. Should I wake up before her and pump?

Yes, get one. I had it when LO was 3 weeks old. The antibiotic is necessary. Also, while you're on the antibiotic, take a probiotic supplement to avoid thrush.
@ShianeNicole My LO goes to sleep at 8pm and wakes up at 6:30am. I get up bleary-eyed and pump around 1am. I'm using the night milk to build up a supply for a vacation in a few months when I will be away from LO. And sometimes I use it the next day, if I wasn't able to pump enough at work. So for now, my midnight pump is useful and wanted, but I'm sure there will come a day when I'll want to sleep through it. When that happens, I plan to hand-express just enough to make me comfortable. Hopefully this will gradually signal to my body to make less milk at night. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether eliminating the night pumping will have an impact on daytime production?
I have a couple questions. I go back to work tomorrow and am wondering about feeding my little one some of my freezer stash. I have come across sites that say that milk from when they are newborns will not give them the nutrients they need as a 3mo old. This makes sense. I'm wondering if I just donate my oldest milk and give her what is recently pumped and what I pump at work. Is this true? If so, what's the oldest milk I can feed her and make sure she's getting what she needs? Or can I mix some of the newborn milk with some of the more recently pumped milk?
Secondly, does anyone have tips for returning to work and pumping? Do you have two sets of parts or refrigerate your parts in between? Do you keep your pumped milk in a cooler or refrigerate it? We have lots of refrigerator space but it's also a big company so the doors are constantly being opened and I hate that people may move my stuff around to get to theirs, etc. I could get a mini fridge for my office and may go that route if it will make my life easier.

Grayson gets 1 freezer bag a day to help rotate out the older bags, and then the rest is fresh milk I pumped the day before. I keep my milk in a cooler with 2 ice packs. I didn't like the idea of his milk be unsupervised and a ton of people being able to access it. I am probably paranoid but I just perfer to keep the milk with me. I only have one set of parts right now which I clean after each use now, but I am planning to buy a second set.

Thanks - I have the same thought about the unsupervised milk. I'll keep it with me in a cooler. I already have one that has an ice pack that fits my bottles. I would feel weird cleaning my pump parts at work. I don't think our pumping room has a sink. So I may need to get a second set of parts or keep them cool somehow.

If if am in a rush i will occasionally just use the medela cleaning wipes and then stick everything in the cooler.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the older milk. It's still going to be good for them. And really it's only a day or 2 or one bottle a day that should be the older stuff. The way I do it is on Mondays they get frozen milk, then Tuesday they get Monday's milk and so on. Friday's milk and any leftovers go into the freezer stash. It could be a month or 2 before they get the frozen stuff on Monday but for a few bottles in a day that doesn't concern me.
As for storing at work I am on the road a lot so I keep it all with me. Our kitchen fridge is so dirty and gross sometimes that I wouldn't trust my milk in there.
Thanks for all the great advice! I have some fresh pumped milk from today along with some frozen for her tomorrow. I also am going to try storing my parts "dirty" and in a cooler with two ice packs but I will probably invest in the wipes because that may be easier than carting around so many coolers.
Okay I just need to complain for a moment... DS has been firmly attached to the boob for two days now! He's been cluster feeding like crazy! My poor nipples are so tender and raw! I've tired substituting with pumped bottles, pacifiers, teething toys, and nothing!
Well, went back to work today and DD refused to eat while I was gone. Grandma managed to get 2oz down so that's all she had in 9hrs
She's eaten from a bottle before so I don't know what happened. We are trying out some new bottles tomorrow.
Oh no, sorry to hear it was a rough first day. Going back to work is not only an adjustment for mom but also for LO. She'll get used to it. Hope today is better for you both.

It's probably just you being gone longer than she's used to. Once she settles in it should get easier. Have her play around with the way she holds her too. We found with my DD that she didn't want to be touched. She liked to be given a bottle in the rock n play. She didn't want to associate it with nursing. DS on the other hand wants you to hold him like you're nursing him. He needs to be on his side, belly to belly with whom ever is giving him the bottle.

I hope you had better luck today! The bottle we finally got my LO to eat from was a First Years Breast Flow bottle.
Yesterday was my first day back and LO only had three ounces in nine hours as well. Today he had closer to six. I think it's just an adjustment for them as well.

Another thought- you could get those microwave bags and steam your parts at work. I have a coworker who did that.
