@makana11@lucyb82 So AMH doesn’t really change much normally short term. Maybe either your vitamin D was or is low? It does affect results. And a swing of + or - 0.3 or so basically can be lab variation and nothing on its own to notice. You should also always only look at AMH in conjunction with day 3 FSH, E2 and AFC. Also here we are “team do the treatment that is right for you”, it’s not only a place for people using own eggs.
AFM well in the spirit of the roadblocks that everyone seems to have to go through we have a new one... ERA went smoothly but Hysteroscopy took more than an hour. There are two polyps but he had to stop trying to remove one as it bled too much and so he left the other one and i will need it doing under full anesthesia and without being on clexane... Our biggest problem however is a fibroid. After the Hysteroscopy they also spent another hour doing 3D ultrasounds. Between the Hysteroscopy and the 3D scans they cannot be sure if it is actually invading the uterine cavity or if it is just pushing on the wall of the uterus and making it misshapen. So now I have to try to find a specialist surgeon to do some more testing (probably more scans and an MRI) and then decide what to do. He’s concerned it might not only negatively impact implantation but also make a miscarriage more likely or increase risk of early delivery or stillbirth... Trying to get in the next 2 weeks to see a surgeon first time but naturally not only feeling very sore after yesterday but also really fed up at yet another delay and complication. DH even asked me last night about where in the world would we need to move to in order to use a surrogate and how much would it cost... (it’s not legal here) I mean that’s the reason we did the Hysteroscopy to double check so we don’t waste our hard fought for embryos... but just this once it would have been great if it had been a waste of money!!!

I’m supposing that donor eggs aren’t legal if surrogates aren’t— I’m sorry. Donor eggs will be on the table of options for me depending on how this process goes. Good news for me is that I ovulated last month and had a good uterine lining and my FSH was way down. New doctor laid out a suite of options for me including Clomid and IUIs. I was so glad to not be written off again. I think she said my vitamin d levels were normal but I’ll look again at the test results. I’m sorry @emmasemm that you have to go through all this surgery stuff. I’m having trouble managing my anxious brain and I’m sure that it gets exponentially harder with setbacks like that.
Oh @emmasemm!!!! I am so so sorry!!! I can not believe there is another setback/time delay. You have been so patient for so very long! I could honestly scream on your behalf. I am just so sorry. Sidebar... Using a surrogate is also illegal in NY but people go to Jersey (but donor egg is absolutely Legal). You can use a known surrogate, but you can’t pay someone to do it, because New York declares the one who grew the baby to be the biological mother. The genetic mother is of course whoever produced the egg though. But that is going to change soon, because make same sex couples! They need the option for paid surrogate. Anyway, I digress, I sure hope you get in with a specialist and your uterus can be sorted out ASAP. How are you feeling? Still achy from the hysto?? I know this isn’t super helpful, but my sister got pregnant right after her full anesthesia hysto to remove a fibroid! Like literally the next month and that is how my beautiful niece came to be.

AFM, estrogen patches start tomorrow and injections will start on day 2. My RE added in another medication this time; a pill that I can’t remember the name of, but is essentially a low dose of steroids.
@Imajin99 How are you doing? I've been thinking about you (in a non-creepy way). @lucyb1954 the steroids are a hail Mary, can't hurt so let's try them approach.

@hopefuljj Haha, I would have remembered that one because my dog was on it! The one they prescribed me is called Decadron. Although maybe it’s a Prednisone derivative....
ETA: saved before I finished writing... @hopefuljj How are you doing?
How do you all deal with the emotional side of this? I am sometimes so despondent and scared and sometimes hopeful and most of the time kind of obsessive. It’s all so much to take in.
For me, I pray. I re-read Hannah’s story. Whenever doubts creep up, I look up nursery decor on Pinterest. I try to imagine it happening, so the Universe will deliver it. Ask. Believe. Receive. That’s how I cope. I hope you find some peace soon. 😘
@lucyb1954 My Hannah reference is from the Bible. She was barren, but prayed and prayed for a son. She never gave up and finally, she had one (and more!). It’s the source of the quote you may often see... “For this child I prayed”. It’s at the beginning of Samuel. Reading her story encourages me.
@lucyb1954 It's honestly really hard for me. Possible TW in the spoiler.
Right now, I'm fifteen days late and have had several bfn's, but no symptoms of PMS, so I have no idea what's going on. I haven't been late in over a decade. I work in a call center for a retail company that deals with a lot of pregnant women buying things for their babies, and it's so hard when some of them go on and on about a tiny ding on a piece of furniture that was delivered and I'm sitting there thinking "At least you have a baby on the way and are able to be buying this stuff, I'd love to be worried about things not matching or a tiny scratch". Or the grandparents who call in and gush about how it's the first grandbaby. I have a lot of envy over the symbol fact that these people were able to procreate successfully. I try and mitigate it by finding cute things on our site between calls and sending them to my pregnant work friends to look at and gush over. We have some super adorable stuff on our site. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Then there are the days where I load everything I'd have to buy into a cart and look at the total, lol.
Omg I LOLed at your shopping cart strategy! I’m totally off of social media at this point, I can’t really bear to see all my friends already onto baby 2 when I’m struggling for 1. My sister got pregnant on “accident “ twice (although I suspect it was on purpose on her part) and she’s incredibly irresponsible yet here I am, waiting til I had a good job and a partner... the irony kinda kills me sometimes. As for your other situation- did you ovulate this month?
@lucyb1954 Yeah, I mainly just scroll past it when I see it on social media. My sister's first was a complete accident, and then 11 years later, she got pregnant with her second right after my wedding.
As far as I could tell, I did (ovulation pain and EWCM). I don't use OPKs because they don't work for me, so they'd just be a waste of money. I also don't temp anymore, since the layout of our bedroom makes it difficult for me to reach my thermometer without leaning over my husband and waking him up. FF is predicting that my next cycle should start next Thursday, so I guess I'll have an answer one way or the other by the end of next week. I've already got a doctor's appointment set up for the 27th.
Yeah those ovulation tests never work for me either and I’ve never understood why. My doc will confirm ovulation but the tests always give me negatives.
It’s a good thing I got a second opinion who ordered some genetic testing. My low AMH is due to the fact I carry Fragile X syndrome. Anyone else here have experience with this? The bad news just keeps on coming for me 😢
@lucyb1954 oh I’m sorry to hear you have that diagnosis, but it’s also good you found out now. I know another person on the bump, though who wasn’t on this thread, who has found success via IVF with PGD @adirat You could also try to shoot her a pm

___Trigger Warning___ (pregnancy and loss mentioned)
@bakerstreetboys Thank you for thinking of me, how is the stimming coming along? During my last cycle they introduced the prednisone for me as well. Hope the protocol change will lead to some good results.
Unfortunately, I miscarried the pregnancy before the 2nd scan at 8 weeks. Just been dealing with the grief of this all but RE was so hopeful for next steps and next round. Will take me time to come to terms with this.
Hope everyone else is doing well and wishing all of us strong ladies a very happy international women's day!
@Imajin99 I'm so sorry that it ended that way for you. It's so hard to deal with. It's encouraging that your RE is hopeful though. Take time and take care of yourself. Today is my day one, so I'll start stims again tomorrow. I'm not feeling super hopeful; my AFC was only 5, but we're still willing to take a chance and try again.
@emmasemm Have you scheduled with the surgeon yet? I hope you're doing ok. @lucyb1954 I'm sorry that you got that diagnosis; it's so hard to get more bad news when you're already struggling. I hope that you're working with a doctor who has some options for you.
@lucyb1954 thanks - we see the specialist in a few weeks. And I benefitted so much from others sharing their knowledge. So it only feels right to do the same. My RE has offered me a job if I want to swap into a career as a Dr ;-)
@imajin99 I’m so sorry - move to next steps whenever it feels right for you
@hopefuljj how are you? Did you decide on next steps now?
AFM So the MRI today was interesting. They made me get up and empty my bladder again twice. With my IV in for the contrast... And I was total more than an hour to get all views they wanted. Longest one I’ve had. Luckily I’m not claustrophobic!!! Results were interesting - yes I have a fibroid and it’s a pretty big one. As big as a normal bladder. And yes it’s on the “fundus” of my uterus. But no view showed it causing a misshapen uterus... and not invading the lining... however there were also a few unclear views. And he said it’s so big if I’m standing (or half sitting in the ultrasound chair) it might give a different view. He doesn’t think it should impact falling PG (as if it’s so easy to “fall”) but said would need closely watching in the last months of any pregnancy and I might need to deliver early. Plus it explains why I need to pee a lot as it is squashing my bladder to approx half normal size. He recommended to leave it until we’ve finished with family building. But said see what the expert at the fibroid centre says in a few weeks. On a side note I now realized I have more than 1000 images of my uterus and ovaries from 2D and 3D ultrasounds, plus Hysteroscopy photos and now MRI pictures too. Thinking I should open them as an art exhibition ;-)

@emmasemm Are you going to take the art exhibit international? I imagine it's very annoying to have the fibroid pushing on your bladder all the time! I hope the expert has good news for you and that it doesn't impact your transfer.
Stims are going ok; I had forgotten about the instant headache from Gonal-F though! I'll go for an u/s and blood work on day 5 to see what's going on. I don't expect that I'll have many follicles, but who knows. I just need to find that one golden egg!
Hi Ladies..apologies for jumping in randomly but found this thread and I had a question. Waiting on a call from my new RE to discuss but thought ya'll might have some insight for me?
So my new clinic offers a "fertile guarantee" program that we were going to apply for. A nurse got back to me last week and said I actually don't qualify because the blood work they have from my previous RE/last year has my AMH level at a .71 and it needs to be over 1 for the program.
That was literally the first time we heard this, so it prompted me to do some Google research (now I feel like an idiot) and we discovered that's really low for my age - I'm 31. We were extremely upset that this wasn't brought up to us last year before we started an entire IVF cycle! Just kind of shocking???
However - on egg retrieval day they got 23 eggs, 19 fertilized, 5 made it to day-5 blasts. From what I'm gathering online, a .71 indicates DOR...but we got 23 eggs. Does that seem to not add up? Although we only got 5 embryos...so could this be an indicator of egg quality then? We're just really confused and obviously worried now about this number. Yes it was a year ago so I'm hoping it has changed with the Vitamin D, CoQ10, etc. that I have been taking and I'm obviously asking for repeat blood work before our upcoming retrieval. I apologize if this is answered somewhere in the thread, but I haven't looked...just wanting some feedback if anyone can provide? We're clueless right now waiting to talk to the doctor.
Sorry your previous doctor hadn’t given you a result so you had the full picture.
however! DOR is not diagnosed just by AMH - it is the trifecta of high FSH, low AMH and low AFC. I would hazard a guess that your vitamin d was low and thus artificially lowered your AMH when it was tested last year. i would suggest your new RE retests all 4 of the above, also when they do your fsh on day 3 test your estrogen too (as it can artificially alter your fsh).
If you retrieved 23 eggs you are not the normal DOR diagnosis. Also getting five embryos is a fab result. There is no “only” about that.
Hope after re testing they will accept you.

@emmasemm thank you so much for the reply. And you are right about the 5 embryos
Very interesting, and it makes me feel a bit better. I believe they had said those other levels were "normal," so it sounds like your guess could be what happened. I was not on Vitamin D at that time! I am going to relay your recommendation to my new RE when I go in for updated blood-work hopefully soon.
We had three transfers last year (2, then 1, then 2 embryos) with a chemical, BFN, and chemical result. Just trying to gather all the information I can to ensure we're doing all we can, before we jump back in! I appreciate your feedback
@ellemarie7 if you’re not DOR and not in a treatment cycle, feel free to do a post in the newbie intro thread on the TTGP board and then join the IF thread. Do read the rules first though as it’s quite a big board so the structure is important :-)
@lucyb1954 yes we are hoping the specialist and my RE both agree!

@ellemarie7 I also had a surprise low AMH going into our first IVF cycle -- it had dropped from a normalish 2.6 to 0.62. Since everything else was normal, my RE didn't think it was significant. We got 10 eggs, 9 mature and 2 blasts. I think you still have every chance for success but I understand how disappointing the number can be! I was also told by the lovely ladies here that it can fluctuate a bit and my vitamin D levels (which are always low despite supplements) can impact it. You have some lovely blasts so I'm praying that one of those will become your THB :-)
~~ Our Story in Spoiler! TW loss/child~~
Fall 2012 -- started TTC Summer 2015 - no BFP yet, labs normal, referred to RE Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 - Further testing all normal. 3 IUI's -- BFN. Recommended move to IVF. Planned cycle for fall 2016. September 2016 - Surprise natural BFP. MMC @ 8 weeks. RE expressed confidence that we just needed the 'right' embryo. Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 -- Break from TTC June 2017 - Started IVF; egg retrieval for freeze all cycle. 9 mature eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized. 2 4BB embies on ice. August 2017 - FET transfer both embies. BFP. Twin pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound. EDD 4/28/18 September 2017 - Twin B stopped developing; Twin A doing perfectly! Graduated from RE @ 10 weeks March 2018 - Baby Girl born via C/S due to pre-eclampsia -- strong and healthy!
TTC #2 January/Feb 2021 - Freeze-all IVF cycle March 2021 - FET of 1 PGS normal female embryo. BFP! Beta #1 156, #2 472, #3 1241, #4 5268 EDD 12/5/21 - Christmas baby!
@emmasemm@mbradfo2 thank you both!! I actually have a year of IVF under my belt - unfortunately our first cycle with those five embryos did not result in a THB. I'm currently on the March IVF and April FET boards and hopeful!
@mbradfo2 I'm thinking that might be the case for me as well....
I have a phone appointment with my RE on Monday to discuss, so we'll see - and I'm doing repeat blood-work before I start stimming this month. Thank you both again for your feedback and insight, I appreciate it - and wish you both the best on your journeys as well
Feeling pretty defeated; after four days of stims, my estrogen level was just over 200 this morning. On day five of my last cycle, it was over 1000 and I started Cetrocide. I go back tomorrow for another draw. I’m wondering if I should cancel the cycle. Blah.
@emmasemm- glad you got the MRI done and I hope the specialist has a firm reco for you soon! I’m glad it sounds like you could move forward right away, but it also makes me nervous that it could cause a baby to be delivered early (how early?!). Having a premie hasn’t been easy and he wasn’t even super early. But I’m guessing surgery would delay you a while

@bakerstreetboys sorry ur estrogen is low but it’s still early I wouldn’t cancel just yet. You’re really just getting started, how many follicles do they see. I’ve first done a full stemming cycle like 14/16 days before canceling. And some cycles didn’t progress really around day 9. Hang in there.
@emmasemm I swear you should totally be on payroll for all this knowledge you have lady! A lil concerning on how large this fibroid sounds. Is it too tough to have removed. I have a very small one and it was fine during pregnancy thank gd BUT it also hasn’t grown in years and stayed in the same spot....not everyone sees it. Now I have a friend that had a fibroid closer to the sac during her pregnancy and unfortunately for her the dang thing kept on growing with the baby and she ended up needing to have the baby early. Her fibroid ended up being like the size of a grapefruit....they can feed of the blood and grow is my concern. I pee all the time I don’t need any extra help from anything helping me go....sorry! Like @jaimeh2000 I’d be concerned about early delivery too. Granted I don’t think your RE would want to gamble if he wasn’t certain either. Glad things are moving well! That’s also some photo album you’ve got there!!

@Imajin99 and @Hopeful_mom Thanks for the encouraging words. I had an u/s yesterday with the first blood draw, and they only saw one measurable follicle. There are a few more little ones, but they're pretty tiny. I did more blood work this morning, and go back tomorrow morning for another u/s. How are you doing?
ETA: only up to 396 today. Blood work again and u/s tomorrow
@emassen at the very least you should get a really nice Shutterfly book made up honoring your uterus! My gosh, I wish you didn’t have to think about this fibroid at all but I’m glad it doesn’t seem to be causing and issue for transfer?? So am I following right, you need to wait for the fibroid center for a final day? Jeeeze Louise! Well I like to think that the whole “good things come to those who wait” saying is true but sometimes all the waiting just feels rediculous.
@bakerstreetboys I’m sorry this cycle does not seem to be going very well:( I know how frustrating that can be:(

DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos 1st transfer - chemical pregnancy 2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!
@Imajin99 Thank you for asking At my appointment today, they guessed that we'd get 2 or 3, and I'm triggering tonight. It's going to get complicated because our one frozen embryo is a day 5, and they can't transfer that with a day 3, so it will be very last minute as to whether we do a day 3 or 5 transfer!
I hope you get to see your RE soon...there's so much waiting in this whole process.

Re: Low AMH Level
@hopefuljj how did you go with the saline sono?
@makana11 @lucyb82
So AMH doesn’t really change much normally short term.
(it’s not legal here)
I mean that’s the reason we did the Hysteroscopy to double check so we don’t waste our hard fought for embryos... but just this once it would have been great if it had been a waste of money!!!

@imajin99 I’m so sorry - move to next steps whenever it feels right for you
@bakerstreetboys how are the stims going?
@hopefuljj how are you? Did you decide on next steps now?

So the MRI today was interesting.
Thinking of my old buddies @jamieh2000 and @hopeful_mom too

Stims are going ok; I had forgotten about the instant headache from Gonal-F though! I'll go for an u/s and blood work on day 5 to see what's going on. I don't expect that I'll have many follicles, but who knows. I just need to find that one golden egg!
@hopefulljj How are you doing?

I also had a surprise low AMH going into our first IVF cycle -- it had dropped from a normalish 2.6 to 0.62.
Summer 2015 - no BFP yet, labs normal, referred to RE
Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 - Further testing all normal. 3 IUI's -- BFN. Recommended move to IVF. Planned cycle for fall 2016.
September 2016 - Surprise natural BFP. MMC @ 8 weeks. RE expressed confidence that we just needed the 'right' embryo.
Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 -- Break from TTC
June 2017 - Started IVF; egg retrieval for freeze all cycle. 9 mature eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized. 2 4BB embies on ice.
August 2017 - FET transfer both embies. BFP. Twin pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound. EDD 4/28/18
September 2017 - Twin B stopped developing; Twin A doing perfectly! Graduated from RE @ 10 weeks
March 2018 - Baby Girl born via C/S due to pre-eclampsia -- strong and healthy!
TTC #2
January/Feb 2021 - Freeze-all IVF cycle
March 2021 - FET of 1 PGS normal female embryo. BFP! Beta #1 156, #2 472, #3 1241, #4 5268 EDD 12/5/21 - Christmas baby!

@mbradfo2 I'm thinking that might be the case for me as well....

Back for # 2!
Unexplained Infertility - but I am 40...Low AMH .30

2 iui's to start - BFN
IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5! 2 5AA 1 6BB PGS results = all abnormal
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.
FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol
Chemical pregnancy
FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN
Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2???? Miscarriage at 8 weeks. viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal

1st transfer - chemical pregnancy
2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!
Thinking of all of you and hope all is well.
AFM: nothing new, will let you know after I see RE about next steps.
@bakerstreetboys How are you doing? Did the tiny ones catch up yet?
@Imajin99 Thank you for asking At my appointment today, they guessed that we'd get 2 or 3, and I'm triggering tonight. It's going to get complicated because our one frozen embryo is a day 5, and they can't transfer that with a day 3, so it will be very last minute as to whether we do a day 3 or 5 transfer!
I hope you get to see your RE soon...there's so much waiting in this whole process.
