First off any “Good” doctor wouldn’t have done a retrieval. He would have seen you only made one and would have suggested canceling, switch up the meds and try again next month but he didn’t and THEN he basically said he won’t work with you again. Disgusting as a doctor!! I’m so very sorry you are going through this but I definitely would get a second opinion. I don’t know how far back you have gone on this thread but I was .6 when I did my retrieval’s and I was 37 when it worked. I have only one working ovary but only made one or two till I found a better dr. I then got pregnant naturally four months later with my son when I had tested a month earlier and my amh was 0.03!!! Forget the levels anything is possible!!! I know a 43 year old that just had when she was told no. Not sure where you live but if it’s NJ I highly recommend RMANJ. With that said... please don’t give up because some shithead of a doctor sucked. Please message me if you ever have questions or just want to vent.

@LSatturo126 thank you for the encouragement. I am not ready to give up yet and plan to get a second opinion. The Dr has been pushing me to use a donor egg from the beginning but I wanted to try with my own eggs. He said there was a chance it could work but said it was in the single digits. He has said multiple times that I just have one cycle with him. When he saw there were initially just the two larger and two smaller follicles he said we would be lucky to get one and the only reason to quit would be financial. I figured that we had come that far so let's proceed with trying to get something. From what I understand I am already on the highest amounts of medications I could be on. I was on birth control for a month, lupron for a week, cetrotide for another week, estrogen shots 2x/week and daily suppositories, then to Gonal F 600 for a week reducing to 450 the following week, menopur 75 units, and omnitrope 24 units. I had read that being on birth control for so long could over suppress the ovaries, but asked and was told no. I was positive for natural killer cells. My partner and I are a partial match for the DQ gene(?). We didn't really address this with the Dr as the plan was to do so if we got any embryos. I know it would require immunotherapy and implantation of only one embryo at a time.
Well said @LSatturo126@ah80 I just wanted to add that birth control can certainly suppress so I don’t know why he’s saying no! It sux to have to be a ginea pig BUT some meds work different for others that why there are different protocols. My 2nd cycle was converted to iui since the protocol sucked and I ended up with disappearing follicles and got one....when one cycle with clomid gave me 3. So iui I did to at least try. It is trial and error even with drugs...each month can be different...it was for me. I totally get wanting to try! My 3rd cycle I still made fewer then expected but I wanted to spend the money and try. I think I need another opinion for sure!

He was a negative ninny if that’s how you even spell it lol. Anyway my point is, def see another dr. See what they say. My first one stunk, took my money and barely attempted anything and i also did 3 IUI’s with him too. Then I found my dr did 3 retrieval’s and got two healthy embryos. Only one took and we had our daughter. Then when he tested me two months before the next retrieval and it showed .03amh. I also have only one working ovary and that ovary has scar tissue around it. I also ovulated a week early, I have a tilted uterus and a tiny hole for a cervix. Basically me getting pregnant naturally was like .03 out of 100. And it did! I should have probably played the lottery but I felt like we won already. I truly hope you find a great doctor and you have success! Hey ladies, sorry to just drop in with bad news here but didn’t want to leave @JamieH2000 or @hopeful_mom waiting. Scan was today and wasn’t good. Measuring a week behind and doctor is concerned it isn’t chromosonally normal based on sack to yolk ratio or something like that. There was a flicker of a heartbeat whatever that means. I was blacking out on the listening front at that point. So much for becoming a unicorn. But I’m pleased to know it seems my body can get pregnant. That is a pretty major silver lining, I’m not gonna lie. Scan next week to confirm but doctor was the oposite of reassuring so I’m not keeping much hope outside a sliver of miracle alive. Me: Hashimoto Autoimune Disease Homozygous MTHFR Cr677 DOR - AMH .27 High FSH (don't even know how high) 2 iui's to start - BFN IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5! 2 5AA 1 6BB PGS results = all abnormal IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5 IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS
Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.
FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol Chemical pregnancy FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2???? Miscarriage at 8 weeks. viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal
DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos 1st transfer - chemical pregnancy 2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!

@hopefulljj I'm sorry that your u/s didn't go as you had hoped. Holding out hope for you, and happy to see that you are trying to be positive about everything.
@hopefuljj- I am so sorry, that is so hard, but I am going to send all my prayers for your miracle to continue. Seeing the HB is a huge step, so I definitely think there is reason to be hopeful! And you are right- you CAN get pregnant, which is huge! I know you were concerned if you could have implantation/carry and you definitely can! I think that opens the door up for good odds with donor egg or embryo donation down the road if those are options you would consider. Of course, I am hoping with everything that you don't have to!
@kp214- glad to hear its getting better! Is there anything more that can be done (like physical therapy) to keep it in a good place? I am doing good here... trucking along at 25 weeks and trying to enjoy this time. Anxiety is somewhat better, but also just find myself wishing that baby was here safe and sound!

@Imajin99 That's for asking I'm feeling pretty crappy, which I'm trying to take as a good sign! How are things going with you? @JamieH2000 Wow, 25 weeks! I'm happy to hear that your anxiety is getting better, it's so hard sometimes.
We met with the the RE yesterday to follow up after the "empty" single follicle at retrieval. Given my situation, he believed that it was the right choice to go for it as I was on the highest protocol of medication and it's unlikely that I can produce more than a follicle or two. We talked about the options - stop treatment, use a donor egg, adoption. I was surprised that he was open to another cycle as he had told me more than once we could do one cycle trying for my own eggs. Thinking this was my only try did not make this any easier. It felt like a lot of pressure to get it right, when I have no control over much of this. The RE talked about the statistics of success trying again with my own eggs, which is really low, but did say it was ultimately my choice. It does make me feel better to have the option if we choose to try again. The past few days after the failed retrieval were the lowest, darkest, and longest I had experienced thinking that it was all over. After we met yesterday I had hope again, however small that hope is. If we proceed, he suggested changing some of the protocol (no estrogen priming, lupron and directly to stims vs a week of cetrotide before stims, possibly reducing doseage of stims).
Before yesterday, I was wanting to get a second opinion. It's overwhelming to think about starting this process over again with someone new. It can be lengthy and time is not on my side. I am certain I am working with the best RE in my area. I've been reading reviews of other RE's locally and nationwide. Mine actually has great reviews and I don't really disagree with a lot of what the reviews say. I have no frame of reference since this is the only one I've worked with but I'm wondering if it's my situation I'm upset with vs the RE. Despite my concerns about how some things have been handled, I do actually believe he knows what he is doing. I have never doubted that part which is why I've stayed. I also don't doubt the reality of my situation. I understand that numbers cannot absolutely predict whether I can have a child using my own eggs. I know there are instances of people in similar circumstances to mine that conceive, even without IVF. I truly hope that I (and everyone here!!) am one of those people.
Am I crazy for thinking about trying this again with the same RE?
@ah80 you’re definitely not crazy. I guess it depends how much you can handle emotionally, financially, and physically? I don’t think any of the ladies here who used donor eggs have any regrets tho (at least I haven’t seen any commentary).
@bakerstreetboys Waiting for AF to show up so I can have my scan. Just hoping the cyst is gone and my cycle can start, DH has to go out of town on Nov 26 to hoping we can do ER before then.
@hopefuljj regardless of the outcome, you are still our unicorn!! It happened once, so we now know it could happen again! I’am still praying your miracle defies the odds next week!

Yolk sack still enlarged which is a bad sign, staying away from google cuz it’s all doom and gloom, but bean is growing. Still a week behind though, heartbeat 123. Going in next Tuesday again. And I guess ignoring the upcoming Holiday?! @ah80 I have a friend on a fertility App I spend way too much time on who had an abysmal first retrieval, nothing to transfer and when she finally switched clinics and tried again with one more round of IVF she got pregnant with twins and they were born a couple months back. Every cycle is different, and I’m all for alternate family planning but also for giving this more than one shot if you can:) also, that is not an isolated story, I have a few just like that. I had all empty follicles but 2 one cycle, nothing to transfer, but next cycle I got 3 5 day blasts?!! I’m glad you feel like you have choices:)
Me: Hashimoto Autoimune Disease Homozygous MTHFR Cr677 DOR - AMH .27 High FSH (don't even know how high) 2 iui's to start - BFN IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5! 2 5AA 1 6BB PGS results = all abnormal IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.
FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol Chemical pregnancy FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2???? Miscarriage at 8 weeks. viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal
DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos 1st transfer - chemical pregnancy 2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!

How is everyone doing? Hang in there @hopefuljj, keeping my positive thoughts with you and the lil bean. @ah80 Thanks for sharing your experience. My first IVF, I had 2 follies and RE suggested cancelling and we did but in hindsight we wish we would have gone ahead with it as my next cycle didn't go so well. I did go for a 2nd opinion and as @hopefuljj mentioned each cycle can be different and hope that the change in meds will change things up. I will probably switch to the other clinic in the new year as I am giving my current clinic (love my RE there) one more shot.
AFM: I went for baseline scan on Saturday morning, endo cyst is still present on left ovary but hasn't grown. RE does not think I will get any follicles on that side. On right ovary they only saw one follicle and we have decided to go ahead with cycle with lower medication. It was a rough weekend with the news and it causing anxiety but I am feeling a bit better this week. First blood test on Friday, I really hope there were some small follicles that will be measurable soon but not holding out on getting more than the one.
@Imajin99 I know what it’s like to only have one working ovary and with low reserve. I was making one a month and then had meds switched a few different ways till I got some. Try to stay positive, I know it’s so hard to when bad news keeps slapping us in the face but my fingers are crossed for you.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
Things with me aren’t running to plan. After our cancelled cycle last time they asked me to do some 7dpo (or 9dp trigger) blood work to make sure I ovulated - and low and behold my prolactin was high but my progesterone was zero... everything signaled I ovulated from the rest of the blood work and scan but my body seems to have a real problem with some hormones... we retested my thyroid again at the same time and still practically zero TSH so I’m off to a normal endocrinologist in 2 weeks time to try to figure out what is going on. RE has quite rightly said no treatment until everything is close to normal ranges - not even a Hysteroscopy as he wants to do an ERA with it and that makes no sense when my hormones are wonky... Of course if I’m not making any progesterone and also have zero TSH Trying naturally is out of the question... DH is gutted. He really still dreamt of getting to transfer before Xmas. I just really want to find out what’s going on and sort it - with an underlying fear that we might not be allowed to transfer at all... Keeping busy with work in the meantime - just flying out for a few days at a conference and writing from the airport on Sunday evening. So sorry if I’m not checking in as much but also trying not to dwell on it all until we know what the endocrinologist has to say

@emmasemm- gosh, it does seem to pour when it rains? Like isn't it bad enough to have low AMH/DOR, but then other things are off in our body too! I really hope they can get it all sorted quickly. Of course it makes sense to wait on everything until all the hormones get normalized, but waiting just SUCKS. Hope the holidays can provide some good distraction, but I def know how hard of a time of year this is. THinking of you!

Update: Cycle isn't going so well, the one follicle they saw on the right ovary during baseline ultrasound isnt there, surprising there is one follicle one left ovary where the endo cyst is as well. RE doesn't know if they will be able to retrieve it during ER because of where it is located. Back on Wednesday but my question is if it looks retrievable during the ultrasound how can we guarantee it doesn't shift back where it is irretrievable. Saddened and looks like I can never produce more than 1 follicle.

I echo what the other ladies have already said! It’s sux so bad but it’s also so promising that you did get pregnant all on your own. You will be a min and a great one at that! @Imajin99 sorry this cycle is a tough go! Try not to beat yourself up too much!! First cycle I did I had almost 5 growing and we cancelled as my dr thought I should’ve had double the amount and with being oop what did I kno. Hang in there! I know the guessing game is so hard!

First off any “Good” doctor wouldn’t have done a retrieval. He would have seen you only made one and would have suggested canceling, switch up the meds and try again next month but he didn’t and THEN he basically said he won’t work with you again. Disgusting as a doctor!! I’m so very sorry you are going through this but I definitely would get a second opinion. I don’t know how far back you have gone on this thread but I was .6 when I did my retrieval’s and I was 37 when it worked. I have only one working ovary but only made one or two till I found a better dr. I then got pregnant naturally four months later with my son when I had tested a month earlier and my amh was 0.03!!! Forget the levels anything is possible!!! I know a 43 year old that just had when she was told no. Not sure where you live but if it’s NJ I highly recommend RMANJ. With that said... please don’t give up because some shithead of a doctor sucked. Please message me if you ever have questions or just want to vent.

IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS
Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.
FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol

@JamieH2000 Wow, 25 weeks! I'm happy to hear that your anxiety is getting better, it's so hard sometimes.
Before yesterday, I was wanting to get a second opinion. It's overwhelming to think about starting this process over again with someone new. It can be lengthy and time is not on my side. I am certain I am working with the best RE in my area. I've been reading reviews of other RE's locally and nationwide. Mine actually has great reviews and I don't really disagree with a lot of what the reviews say. I have no frame of reference since this is the only one I've worked with but I'm wondering if it's my situation I'm upset with vs the RE. Despite my concerns about how some things have been handled, I do actually believe he knows what he is doing. I have never doubted that part which is why I've stayed. I also don't doubt the reality of my situation. I understand that numbers cannot absolutely predict whether I can have a child using my own eggs. I know there are instances of people in similar circumstances to mine that conceive, even without IVF. I truly hope that I (and everyone here!!) am one of those people.
Am I crazy for thinking about trying this again with the same RE?

still in limbo. Yolk sack still enlarged which is a bad sign, staying away from google cuz it’s all doom and gloom, but bean is growing. Still a week behind though, heartbeat 123. Going in next Tuesday again. Bean is a fighter. And I’m just keeping my head down. And I guess ignoring the upcoming Holiday?! @ah80 I have a friend on a fertility App I spend way too much time on who had an abysmal first retrieval, nothing to transfer and when she finally switched clinics and tried again with one more round of IVF she got pregnant with twins and they were born a couple months back. Every cycle is different, and I’m all for alternate family planning but also for giving this more than one shot if you can:) also, that is not an isolated story, I have a few just like that. I had all empty follicles but 2 one cycle, nothing to transfer, but next cycle I got 3 5 day blasts?!! I’m glad you feel like you have choices:)

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

@ah80- as long as your RE is willing to try something different, I don't think its crazy to stay with them if you think you are getting good care and they are truly invested in yoU!

How is everyone doing? Hang in there @hopefuljj, keeping my positive thoughts with you and the lil bean. @ah80 Thanks for sharing your experience. My first IVF, I had 2 follies and RE suggested cancelling and we did but in hindsight we wish we would have gone ahead with it as my next cycle didn't go so well. I did go for a 2nd opinion and as @hopefuljj mentioned each cycle can be different and hope that the change in meds will change things up. I will probably switch to the other clinic in the new year as I am giving my current clinic (love my RE there) one more shot.
AFM: I went for baseline scan on Saturday morning, endo cyst is still present on left ovary but hasn't grown. RE does not think I will get any follicles on that side. On right ovary they only saw one follicle and we have decided to go ahead with cycle with lower medication. It was a rough weekend with the news and it causing anxiety but I am feeling a bit better this week. First blood test on Friday, I really hope there were some small follicles that will be measurable soon but not holding out on getting more than the one.

@hopefuljj- I’m so sorry girl. I wish I could do more. Always here if you want to chat. Take the tone you need! I think it’s so encouraging you had natural implantation. But that doesn’t take away any of the pain of the loss! I truly believe you will be a mom soone than later!

Hope everyone else is doing well.
Things with me aren’t running to plan. After our cancelled cycle last time they asked me to do some 7dpo (or 9dp trigger) blood work to make sure I ovulated - and low and behold my prolactin was high but my progesterone was zero... everything signaled I ovulated from the rest of the blood work and scan but my body seems to have a real problem with some hormones... we retested my thyroid again at the same time and still practically zero TSH so I’m off to a normal endocrinologist in 2 weeks time to try to figure out what is going on. RE has quite rightly said no treatment until everything is close to normal ranges - not even a Hysteroscopy as he wants to do an ERA with it and that makes no sense when my hormones are wonky...
Of course if I’m not making any progesterone and also have zero TSH Trying naturally is out of the question...
DH is gutted. He really still dreamt of getting to transfer before Xmas. I just really want to find out what’s going on and sort it - with an underlying fear that we might not be allowed to transfer at all...
Keeping busy with work in the meantime - just flying out for a few days at a conference and writing from the airport on Sunday evening. So sorry if I’m not checking in as much but also trying not to dwell on it all until we know what the endocrinologist has to say

@Imajin99 sorry this cycle is a tough go! Try not to beat yourself up too much!! First cycle I did I had almost 5 growing and we cancelled as my dr thought I should’ve had double the amount and with being oop what did I kno. Hang in there! I know the guessing game is so hard!
