The Daily Gripe

Re: The Daily Gripe

  • I've always gotten errors (shakes fist) but I'll admit I've been holding off on updating my iOS because there's a post from the admins saying it's had issues.
  • Loading the player...
  • Unrelated to our bump gripes, but still not cool, man. DH just texted me, one of my hockey teams have traded away or allowed to leave in free agency two of my favorite players! %-( One went to the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks! :-O Bah

  • DS brought home another cold from preschool. We both woke up with a sore throat this morning. Well at least we had three days without boogers. Time to bust out the airborn.

My daycare providers daughter has mono - which I already posted. But apparently it's so bad she's in the hospital. I'm not sure she will open tomorrow, which I would understand, but would royally blow for me ... To take a day off when my kid isn't sick. Although I'd be freaking out if mono landed my teenager in the hospital!

You know - I'll admit to being one of those people who totally understood when parents had to miss work because of their kids, but at the same time was really annoyed by the leeway parents received when it came to missing work. Kid is sick and you have to miss work to take it to the Dr, no problem. Cat is sick and you have to miss work to take it to the vet, huge strike against you. Not saying parents should get in trouble if they have to miss work for their kids, hell no. Even before I had a kid I never felt that way. But I do feel that its unfair that someone who is childless is not afforded a similar type of leeway when it comes to pets, is all.

Moral of the story - really, there isn't one except me bitching, lol. But enjoy your day home with your LO!

  • I went to Culver's drive thru and ordered a sweet tea with my combo. I got regular tea. :|

  • At church, we haven't been taking LO to the nursery for Sunday school bc the lady in there is old & all she does it rock the baby. It could be screaming it's head off & she's rocking away shooshing it. She's a little crazy. Well we've had about 5 or 6 people tell us it's hurting her feelings that I keep her in my Sunday school class (to which I don't give a flying flip), but last Sunday she was dedicated & she went in there for a bit with her & was okay.
This Sunday, she is asleep on the way to church & needs a full nap so I was going to keep her in the service (small southern church, no big deal). This woman walks over to take her & I tell her no she's going to nap. She picks up the carrier and WALKS OFF WITH MY BABY... My DH looked at me like we were going to hurt her. Another woman saw & took the diaper bag & went with her. I go in after church & she hasn't napped... So I tell them she NEEDS to nap (I'm trying to be civil, this is church). Another lady comes to get me 20min into SS because she's crying her head off, still no nap & she's ready to eat. I have to pry her from the woman to feed her & I say, SHE MUST NAP. She plays with her. My poor baby is SCREAMING when I pick her up & this crazy lady is like, "she doesn't like me anymore..." She passed out before I could buckle her in.
I complained to our pastor & I refuse to let her near by baby again....... Ughhhh.
  • ^^ whoa. NOT COOL. Something like this is exactly the reason I am reluctant to leave my LO with the YMCA kid care person. I don't know this person and they don't know me, and would see me and LO so infrequently I'm afraid they would just do their thing instead of listening to my instructions (which would be simple - let him sleep unless he wants to play).
I hope the pastor speaks with her not just about her not watching your LO anymore, but that in general she should not just walk off with someone's kid without their permission.

  • DS has croup. Tonight is going to suck. Steamy bathrooms and ibuprofen. Please lord do not let LO catch this cold.
  • @lovethatcolosun good luck tonight and the next few days!! Croup sucks
  • @lovethatcolosun oh no! I hope he gets better soon! Hope LO stays croup free!

  • @lovethatcolosun hope he feels better soon. Read your other post in nighttime sucks, glad he's in good hands
  • I love waking up with a migraine, said no one ever. Home sick for the 2nd time since going back to work 2 weeks ago. My left eye will barely open.
  • I know people are trying to be sweet, but if one more person tells me how much hair my daughter has, I may crack.
  • Well I guess misery loves company right? So DH and I stepped up to the plate. We both have sore throats now. Awesome. :|
  • @lovethatcolosun I hope your DS is feeling better/getting better this morning!!!!
  • @lovethatcolosun i was also wondering how it was going in croup-land. He feeling better today? Bless his little heart, I was thinking about you guys off and on all day yesterday and last night

  • @AlwaysSunny1012 ditto. It just started happening the past week or so :(. I've always had thin hair, and it got a little thicker during pregnancy. I was dreading it falling back out again.
  • ^^ I am also joining the hair loss club. Cleaning out my brush is scary. I could stand to loose some though. It's ridiculous how much hair I have. LO seems to be enjoying it too. She loves yanking on it and my necklace.
  • Mine has really started falling out, probably doesn't help that I only wash 1 to 2 times a week. My scalp is also really itchy
  • I'm really starting to get nervous about how much hair I'm losing. It's the worst it's ever been. When does it stop?
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • When I got my hair cut a few weeks ago the stylist actually said it was a little thinner on top. WHY would you ever say that to someone, they will just obsess over it.
  • @dancegurl1118 some friends of mine said that once breastfeeding stops the hair loss stops. My sisters hair started falling out around the 3 month mark, and she never breast fed. I think she stopped losing hers a few months after that.

    @ChardeeMacDennis people are morons.

Oh the hair loss. My pony tail is so short :( I was hoping to avoid it because I wasn't breastfeeding.
    Not a chance

Are there any tips to lesson the hair loss? FFFQ maybe but why does it happen? Are we missing some sort of nutrient we could supplement?

ETA: to make clear I was talking about hair loss

My understanding is the hair loss is hormonal? Our bodies adjusting back to not having all those pregnancy hormones raging around? If so, I was expecting this to last about 9m to a year, since that's when its generally accepted that your body has finally returned to it's pre-pregnancy state

Edited cause I posted too soon

  • @chardeemacdennis  my hair stylist said the same thing!  She recommended taking Biotin, but I'm lazy and haven't picked any up yet.  My husband said he can't believe I have any hair left with the amount of it that is in the shower drain and bathroom floor.  My hair is thin to begin with...so it is extra depressing to be losing so much of it.

I heard it gets better around 8-9 months pp?  That seems so far away.   :/

Amen. I have a pixie cut and I'm still shedding a ton. I don't remember it lasting that long with DS but I also feel like my memory isn't as good as it used to be.
  • An hour after the movers finished packing up our lives, my boss emails to tell me we actually are not allowed to move in January. Maybe March or by June, hopefully.
DH and I are discussing whether to wait it out, or whether to find another job. I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with this organization.

That's like the icing on the cake for your frustrations lately. Good luck with your decision.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 are you serious? I work for a non profit in Georgia and we usually have openings.....come work with me and we'll be mom friends (I mean this in a non creepy way)
