Today is a waste of a day for me. I'm at work- boss took today off, kids are on vacation, staff is on vacation, its just me and the custodian. We have NOTHING to do. I'm going to clean up my desk, putter around for maybe an hour, then I'm here to kill time until 3. I was told I need to be here for the phone if it rings. Issue? Every school district is on vacation, and all the staff is on vacation, so NO ONE will be calling me other than maybe my boss to tell me things I can do for her- even though she took today off and shouldn't be worrying about work.
I brought my crocheting lol. I will be finishing my blanket and making a lot of hats

And being that this is the first time in my life that I can actually say I have large boobs I have no advise to give on boob reduction and bfing although I feel like the answer falls into the "everybody's body is different... You're just going to have to wait it out" category but what do I know.

That's lame. That would be awesome if they could just forward the calls to your phone for the day. Empty schools are creepy when you have to spend the whole day alone in them...at least it will not be dark all day... That's really creepy!

Hey ladies! Midweek check in. Things are not going great here. Long story, but apparently my Dad's drinking problem has gotten a bit worse since I saw him last. Ugh.
Today I brine the turkey, make an apple pie, prep the table things, and hang up some curtains (unrelated to Thanksgiving). Oh, and I have my 22 week appointment.
Missing all the talk. Glad you are all doing well!
Does anyone else have family that basically uses Facebook to share hoaxy chain emails?
Current one says kids have heart attacks if they take fever and cough medicine. And it's obviously written by a doctor who uses exclamation points!!!!!
Unsolicited advice is annoying but I usually find it sweet. Using Facebook for medical advice makes me knock you off the babysitting list.
@cmerribury that's yucky. Sorry you're going through a rough patch right now. Hopefully you can find some therapy in food prep - I always do. Come back to us any time you need to vent, we're here.

@cmerribury I too am hanging curtains. The only reason i'm finally doing so after buying them 2-3 months ago is because i'm hosting thanksgiving. lol. So i guess having a party every once in a while makes me get shit taken care of off my to do list!
I am out of work in just over an hour, whcih is great aside from the fact that i'm going home to clean and prep
We still have boxes to unpack after a month being in the house. I know that's still acceptable but we're hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow. So yeah, all of the crap that's out in our bedroom will be going in our closet when I go home to start cooking. Tell me that's ok. And thankfully it's still in new status so I don't have to deep clean

@skruhmin I'm not particularly anti-Kardashian (I honestly don't really care about them either way) but I have a really hard time buying into any of her "complications" that she supposedly has. And does she really need a baby to justify an extravagant purchase? You're beyond rich, don't wait around for your husband to buy you something, get it yourself!
I think being pregnant at this point and havkbg thanksgiving is the best timing ever!! I can't wait to eat all the food and not feel guilty about a bite!
@bntfroggie so exciting!!!! You need to take a picture and post, mmmmmm k?
Last time I was pregnant over Thanksgiving I was smack dab in the middle of first trimester so it was a sucky Thanksgiving. Kind of excited for a redo, especially with the level of turkey awesomeness we're doing.

OMG I was ready to flip shit! DH gets paid today because normal payday (tomorrow) is a holiday. He didn't get his check until 11:30. They don't even offer direct deposit and usually the checks are in the night before. Not this time! I put my last $4 in the gas tank today to make it to work hoping like hell his paycheck would come. If not I would've been stuck here at work until 8 or 9 waiting for the damn thing because DH has to work his other job and wouldn't have been able to put the check in- they don't even offer him direct deposit.

Question: Is Christmas or Thanksgiving more important to you (if you celebrate Christmas). I don't mean in a religious (I just had to spell religious five times before I got it right) way but more in the family tradition kind of way. I don't really put much weight in Thanksgiving because I never celebrated it until I moved here and Christmas is so so important to me. I was wondering how you guys felt, what is a 'bigger event' in your lives?
I just ate one whole donut and then about 5 pieces of 5 different donuts. But then I had an orange - thank God it cancelled it out!!
@ecwk I think we put almost the same emphasis on Thanksgiving and Christmas in our house. Although, because we are religious, Christmas has more meaning. As far as food, both get the same amount lol.

Ooh that's a tough one. Both are extremely important to me. I love being around my family for Thanksgiving. But at the same time I'm loving the traditions we are creating with our boys for Christmas. Like Christmas as an adult before kids was "meh" but with kids it's so much fun! And we are religious so mixing in Santa with the Christian traditional Christmas is fun to sort through with them - reading about the birth of Jesus, going to Christmas Eve service, just teaching the REAL meaning behind Christmas.

I love love love Christmas just the magical feeling, but both holiday's my Grandmother would come up for and it was great to see people we didn't usually see. I can't choose!!

I would definitely say Christmas here. It was my grandmother's favorite holiday of all and ever since I was a baby she went all out every year (she and my Grandpa raised me so I was there for it all). Then my senior year she passed away 2 days before Christmas. Its always been something the whole family has kept going ever since. Hence my Christmas Tree post lol- I have a lot of history in that tree, right down to the tree itself because it was her artificial tree that we got when I was maybe 7 or 8. If its one thing my family knows how to hold on to its Christmas!
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
Christmas for me for sure! Although as far as I'm concerned Christmas is a month not a day. I just love all the traditions. Dh and I are not religious.(he is Jewish, I am Christian, but I would call us more culturally religious than spiritually) We participate in major holidays for both religions, eat traditional foods etc. but don't do church or temple and keep spirituality on a more personal level. I love every part of traditions though. We light the menorah every night for Hanukkah, eat latkes. Then I love cutting our own tree, decorating, baking, watching holiday movies, spending time with family. I take ds every year to the candle light evening at the farmers museum and we have a lobster festivus dinner every year which is usually the last night we spend in the USA before going to Canada for Christmas. It's just such a magical time.
Christmas for the win! I agree with @stormiewinter that it's a month-long event. Thanksgiving is nice, but never as big of a deal in my family as Christmas. I love the anticipation of Christmas. And yes, anticipating and experiencing it with kids is so much more fun than before. I try to do Advent Activities every day in December for my girls - partly a religious thing to keep their hearts focused on Jesus during this very commercial/gimme-gimme season. But we also do a lot of fun and service activities. (Craft projects, random acts of kindness, etc.)
On an unrelated note . . . those of you with a few kids already . . . do you take them all grocery shopping with you? My kids are reasonably well-behaved, but I just got home from grocery shopping with them (the day before Thanksgiving - not smart on my part) and I'm seriously going to need a nap now. I don't even want to think about adding a newborn to the chaos!

Hi ladies, tried to catch up but geez you guys were busy!! I've had a rough week. Got some type of tummy virus Saturday night and it gave us quite a scare. Ended up at urgent care and then l&d all day Sunday to treat dehydration . Fell on the melting snow/ice sheets in a parking lot on Monday night as I was chasing my dog that decided to bolt out of the car (she's NEVER done that before). Luckily, I fell mostly on my behind and side. My elbow absorbed a good portion of the blow so now my arm is sore. I ended up crying on parking lot floor like a 3 year old which maybe made my dog feel bad because she came running back to me immediately. Feeling better finally and thankfully baby is a okay. It's just my pride that's wounded. DH has decided to ground me (not really) for my annual thanksgiving turkey trot. I was planning on walking most of it and I'd usually tell him to hush up but after seeing how scared he was all week, I think I'm taking his advice and sitting this one out. Now I just need to figure out how to get all my thanksgiving dinner prep work done with a bum arm.
@mrspepper05 I usually do grocery shopping when they're at MIL's. My boys are good but it's more for my sanity. Where does baby #3 go in the cart?!? How does @kynbar5 shop???

I always preferred Thanksgiving growing up because I always spent it with my mom, where I spent every other Christmas at my dad's house with my monster of a (now fortunately ex) step mom and her demon children. But now for me it's a wash - I love them both and get to spend both days with all of the people I love most. I am especially excited to start some of our OWN xmas traditions now that we are starting to add kiddos to the mix.
DH isn't into Christmas that much because his dad passed 2 days after Christmas while he was in high school (and just a few months before we started dating) so that is hard on both of us because I love the holiday season so much, but I try and respect that it's still a difficult time for him even after all of these years.
We actually were talking about this the other day when I was putting up the tree and he was talking about how he is excited to have a baby because that will give him a reason to love Christmas again - going on about cutting down trees together with his son and watching him open gifts and so on. I started bawling like a baby. Actually I am starting to cry just thinking about it again.
Good grief @soxfan9968 I agree with your husband - rest rest rest!!! Isn't L&D fun??? Hopefully you get to feeling better soon. Don't be afraid to go to the chiropractor for any soreness - a fall like that can knock your body/pelvis out of alignment and wreak havoc on you pain wise.
