February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
@cmerribury This happened to me earlier this year!! I suggested to my work that we (aka an outsourced company) create a promotional sales video. I got some quotes and then they asked if I could do it myself. Ummmm if I could make animated videos that cost 2-10k, I wouldn't be working here lol. I ended up making a crappy video myself just to show them the difference.
It happens almost any time someone asks for a legitimate product...a video, an animation, a cover design, anything and everything. I am not a videographer, I am not an animator, I do have a bachelors degree in art and a background in design and if I CAN'T do it...no one else here can either. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it just feels like asking the grocer to check out the weird noise your car is making because you think he may charge you less for his time.
I'm trying really hard to get some nutrition into my body! Instead of my cereal for breakfast, I mashed up an avocado, mixed with some salsa and cheese, to make a dip and while I'm still eating it with blue corn tortilla chips, some veggies/fruit are better than none! I tried eating broccoli last night with cheese sauce- made me gag. I feel like I'm missing out, not eating vegetables.
Wanted to say that I'm struggling with this as well. I remembered a conversation I had with my son's pediatrician when he was young. He was refusing most veggies, but LOVED fruit. His doc told me that it was OK to focus more on fruit when he was young and incorporate veggies more as he got older (this turned out to be perfect advice, by the way because he's an avid veggie fan now). Anyway, he clarified that fruit has just as many nutrients and vitamins as veg...so I've decided to focus on lots of fruit for now (as veg is making me queasy). I've been having a little vanilla yogurt with a TON of fresh berries (bonus for being low in sugar but high in nutrients) and some slivered almonds for protein. It's really yummy and super healthy. Maybe try that? Hang in there...it's tough to not want to eat healthy foods but know you need them. I'm usually a HUGE fan of veg, but right now all I want is carbs.

Amen. My company recently hired a "marketing" person that was expected to both do admin work AND be proficient in graphic design. I'm sorry, but if you want to pay someone admin salary, you're going to get what you paid for in terms of their design ability.
Even with my prenatals, I still feel like I'm not being nutritious enough. I used to be all veggies and no starches- and a veggie over fruits kinda gal. The first thing my doctor told me at my very first appointment after being diagnosed with PCOS is to start a prenatal vitamin to help prepare my body for possible pregnancy. I've been taking prenatals for the last 4 years but to see my diet falling apart kinda kills me lol. The last 4 years have been dedicated to a tough diet and a lot of exercise and now I get little of either.

@charley15 I feel exactly the same way. I worked my butt off (exercise every day, eating right 99% of the time, low to no sugar, no carbs, all veg, a little lean protein...etc.) to lose 32 pounds...then had two pregnancies and losses and now this pregnancy. The weight just keeps piling on.
Try to remember to be gentle with yourself. It's hard work making a human and we aren't always in control of what's happening in our bodies (what we want, what we don't, etc.) while pregnant. At 6 weeks postpartum (on the nose) I'm starting an exercise regime again...we can be workout buddies if you'd like.
@skruhmin I doubled my peanut butter, added a little ice cream and a banana and downed the whole thing. It was great. Thank you!
The appointment went well! I saw a genetic counselor who went over the blood results with me. I'm low risk for everything except the condition DH had, and we should know a little more about our risk level around month 8. Other than that everything looks good! I'm 22 weeks and 5 days, but baby is measuring bigger than normal, about 1 pound and 4 ounces. I'll probably get my date moved up again d:

Thanks @cmerribury That's what I had planned on doing too. at 6 weeks pp the weather will be just warm enough so we can hit the trails and the park. I'm also hoping my appetite returns so I can drop the baby weight. My mother seems to think we are going to be doing the same 1/2 marathon we did this summer again in July- but I think she is crazy! I can't take my baby with me, And I don't want to be away from him for 3 days... but I will help her train and I will go to be her spectator if she wants me to- that way I can take the LO with me

My poor DH. He works so hard and worries so much about money and taking care of us. I love him dearly.
Last year his company was bought out and during the merger a woman who had previously left ended up coming back as some kind of project manager. She apparently didn't leave on great terms and returned on even worse. DH has put about 7 months of work into this project (the one that requires him to be gone 3 weeks a month). Today she pulled him from the project claiming that he hasn't completed any of the required tasks she's given him. He's spent his day pulling emails and evidence proving that she's lying and thankfully his supervisor and boss are both siding with him. I just feel so horrible because he works so hard and it's garbage that this lady is basically dragging his name through the mud over a grudge from before he even worked there.
So Sorry to hear that @SarahFoley725, what a total b-word!! >:(
I'm with you all on the nutrition...it's a pity sugar isn't considered very nutritious. I'd be the healthiest pregnant gal ever!
I do make soups which a basically a ton of veggies pureed with stock and some half and half. It's very tasty and I feel like I'm getting a large serving of veggies, maybe you could try that too @charley15.
Those first tri threads annoyed the crap out of me. That person who started the 'support each other' thread is a moron. Quit bad mouthing my peeps!!! The world isn't all:
So big day for me today. I've been living in my scrubs, yoga pants, and leggings for the last 2 weeks and I went to put on some jeans today, ha! Well played baby bump, well played. Good thing the Gap has a pretty good sale going on right now. Maternity jeans here I come.

@cmerribury no I don't but I imagine that would be great!! I should try it! I soften onion and garlic and add carrots, pepper, zucchini, celery and potato. I might add different veggies depending on what I have. I season well and use fresh herbs too. Pour some stock over it but not too much because I don't like watery soup, let it simmer away and blitz it all up with my blender. Voilà! Super easy and yummy but like I definitely want to try roasting the veggies too!
On a related note: guess who is trying her hand at Frito Pie tonight?!? (Hint - it's me )
I haven't held a newborn baby in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages!!!! I can't wait!!!!
I haven't been able to log on and read anything. I did just skim the like 60 pages and got a few good laughs from the things that have been going on this board. We moved in our first home about a month ago and lord have mercy - we haven't had a slow moment since! My husband and I are very happy to be home owners now but there is so much to do! We moved in and almost as quickly as we moved in we started making improvements and trying to plan for a our baby boys room! Let me tell you, trying to help your husband install flooring at 25 weeks pregnant is a interesting task & I'm almost positive to give you a few good laughs if you can laugh at your self! But today I told my husband I needed a break from the house and I had a light school day. I informed him I wanted to go sit at my local starbucks, drink some hot coco get on the internet and get some christmas shopping started, do a little bit of pinning and be able to read with out the distractions of house duties/pets/homework. I will say baby boy is moving so much more now days! I was able to get a video of him kicking and send it to some great-grandparents and grandparents. Everyone was very happy to see him moving! I swear with all that we have left to get done these next 15 weeks are going to fly... at least I can only hope!

Had my check up today. Baby is sounding good and the Dr. is happy with how things are progressing. Heartbeat was 140. BEST. SOUND. EVER.
Also, I think this may have been asked somewhere on here, but what do you all think about the whooping cough vaccine? My doctor is recommending I get mine at 30weeks, which I will do. She is also recommending that DH and grandparents/others who may be around baby a lot get one. DH will get his no problem, but should I ask the grandparents to get one too?
