Just had pp sex for the first time. Twice. 8 weeks and counting. Wasn't dry and didn't hurt amazingly. However, I was stupid and now I'm freaking out. Had unprotected pull and pray sex 8 days after starting birth control pills. How terrified should I be? #-o I'm freaking out.
From my understanding the 1 month is just old school advice. I remember first going on BC at the same time as a friend, she was advised 1 month and I was advised 1 week for the same stuff. I've gone on and off the pill and never waited more than a week and have never had an oops.
LO has been feeding/on the boob for basically 2 hours straight. if i move him he wakes up at full attention. all ive eaten so far is a croissant like 3 hours ago.. this is ridiculous. at this rate DH will be off work at 2:30 before i get the chance to get up and get food. -_-
Anyone else's DH want another right away? We're first time parents and he wants them close together. Like within 2 years. His reasoning was that we will do the newborn/sleeping stage all at once. I'm thinking toddler & newborn at once. Plus I feel like I'd miss out on a lot with this LO bc I'd be tired from pregnancy & a new LO. We're having an open discussion right now.
***warning- miscarriage mentioned***
Our kids are 19 months apart. I won't lie, it's exhausting but I wanted to have them close because I am old and needed to be done with pregnancy.
I actually got pregnant when my daughter was 10 weeks old (stupid drunken New Years....) but ended up losing that baby. My kids would have been 11 months apart. That. Is. Terrifying.
Here is my random: they got my maiden name wrong on LO's birth certificate (I don't even know why its there?) letter letting us know that his birth cert is available. Anyone know if its important to change? Its only by one letter.
I feel bad about being happy about this, but my mom has left. We just dropped her off at a hotel she will stay at tonight near the airport before catching her flight out at 6am tomorrow.
@mellymar just that he thinks it's a tail sprain. Gave him an opioid shot and tramadol. Shit hit the fan when we got home. He yelped for 45 minutes straight, and is still crying non stop. We iced his back and have given him double the tramadol dose (per the vet). The only other option was leaving him at the vet overnight for sedation and cage rest but he would've freaked out. Let me tell you this dog does NOT cuddle and he currently has been in our laps and under foot crying at all times. If we stop petting him he freaks out. I was sobbing because I have no idea what to do...were gonna have to stay up all night with him.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
@dancegurl1118 if you have a crate for him / he is crate trained you can keep him in that to force rest. I'm sorry he hurts so bad. It hurts us to see them hurting like that. I hope his new pain meds will kick in and have some effect soon.

Aw poor baby! I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the pain meds start working.
DH keeps saying we are "one and done" which he said 5 minutes after LO arrived and we knew he's a boy. No way!! DH is traumatized from the birth, lol. I told him I'll get an epidural sooner, but we'd planned on more than one, and we are NOT done! We are 32, so hoping to have another in 2-3 years.
The birth rate in Germany is super low and the AVERAGE age here for pregnancy is like 31. You see tons of "older" pregnant women. I felt young being pregnant at 31/32. Point being, I'm less nervous now about being an "older" mom, since that's the norm here.
Since we moved LO to his crib, he has started wiggling around so much that he basically crawls around his crib. I put him at the very end and woke up with him all the way at the top with his head on the frame. I know most don't encourage bumpers but what other options do I have? Any ideas?
@cheriep3 Our LO is a crib sleeper, and is also very wiggly at night. She's quite the sidewinder! I've found her with her head against the rails too but as a PP said, it doesn't seem to bother her or be hurting her in any way. I am personally not tempted to do anything at this point since she doesn't seem bothered. I'd rather her wake me up because she wants moved on occasion than be paranoid each night about her being up against bumpers, but that's just me and my paranoia. No judgement of any bumper-users.
Today I went alone to the post office and to pick up diapers. It felt so weird to be without LO, and I had these weird thoughts of, "But how will people know I'm a new mom?!"
On the way home, I carried the diapers on their own, rather than putting them in the bag. So people could see I'm a mom. And it made me feel better.
i love the little guy to death.. but why does he have to poop so much. anytime he is on his side (which is pretty much always) it will leak out of the legs of his diaper. X_X

This happens to me only when I forget to pull out the elastic frill on the diaper. If you're doing that already, maybe consider changing size or brand? That would drive me nuts!!

we are currently using the huggies snugglers in newborn size (same ones as in the hospital) because of his skinny build he has a big belly and small hips/waist. so when we put on his diaper its basically as tight as it can go like the tabs are maybe 1-2cm apart :S im not sure if a bigger size would help -_- maybe a different brand would help but i dont want to waste the 66 or so current diapers we have.
ETA: so basically when i hear him sound the airhorn, i quickly turn him onto his back XD

Huggies run big, I've noticed. We couldn't use them at all on either twin for several weeks.
Huggies newborns leak/blow out on my boy. Pampers newborns work well for him.
My girl can use either, but Pampers fit her better. We're using up the Huggies pack on her, but we still use Pampers at night just in case.
Maybe if you get Pampers now, the Huggies might fit in a few weeks?
I don't know what I did, but I think I pulled/pinched/strained something in my left hip. It hurts just walking and really hurts on stairs, or going from standing to sitting. I think I'm going to take one of my pain pills before bed tonight. What a pain. Literally.
My baby is pretty much always crying when we hold her these past couple days. As soon as we put her down she seems happy. I think she's discovering her hands and feet and gets frustrated she can't move them as easily when we hold her. She's been in her swing for the past hour completely awake but happily kicking and moving her arms. I feel so bad leaving her, but she seems happy enough.

The Pampers nb size seem smaller on my guy, and I do feel that the Huggies fit him better. I had purchased boxes of both brands and remember thinking that it must be almost time to size up because of the fit of the pampers, but then the size 1s were obviously too big in both brands. They were still effective, tho, we just ended up crossing the tape at the waist to make them fit snugly around the waist, and the leg holes still kept messes out. It was just that the rest of the diaper was so obviously bigger than it needed to be.
Bottom line, before you commit to a large case of the Pampers nb size, you might want to get a small pack first to make sure they fit well enough. I've read a couple times on these boards and heard out and about in real life that Huggies fit boys better, and it seems to be playing out to be true in my case.
how the hell do you all manage to breastfeed with 1 hand (or no hands)? when i do it LO gets a bad latch and my nipples hurt real bad.
I have to use my hands to help latch. But once he is on there and going strong I am usually able to ease my hand away and rest the boob and his head on the boppy. Or I may wad up his swaddle blanket and prop my boob on it before I latch him so when I move my hand away from underneath the boob doesn't sag downward. From your posts it sounds like your boobs are bigger than mine, so you may have a harder time at it. But it was something that came easier with practice / positioning.
If you don't have a boppy / breast friend - get one. My boppy allows me to lay him on it and he can nurse and once he is settled I can usually be hands free. And after he is done he usually passes out right there. I end up spending a lot of time sitting with my boobs hanging out while he snoozes in front of me on the boppy, but usually I don't mind. I make sure to have my snacks and water bottle, etc close to hand before I sit down to nurse so its all there within reach.
@mellymar yeah i definitely have to hold my boob at a size he can get his mouth on and hold his head at a good angle so he isnt yanking my boob every which way. the flow is so fast usually he gets lazy and will slowly get shallow with the latch starts to hurt more and more. only 13 days and already such a pain.
he is getting cut tomorrow and i hope it will be alright :-S
I know there's a thread for this but it's random, right? Returning to work for a single evening shift "trial run" on Wednesday. LO will be 8.5 weeks and will be watched by my parents and boyfriend's parents. I'm both excited and unhappy. Excited because finally adult conversation and stimulation that doesn't involve a 10 lb human, and unhappy because I just really hate my job. A lot. :-bd
Twice now, I have tried to make coffee without using a filter. Once, not only did I use no filter, but also no spoon, and dumped grounds all over the counter. The worst part of all this is having to clean it up without a cup of coffee or even a sip, to get you going.
Dear lord, there aren't a lot of things in this world better than that first blessed sip of coffee...
@aliciac2008 mine's doing the same thing right now. She seems relatively content on her own recently. Maybe we have independent babies?
@dancegurl1118 I hope your pup gets to feeling better very soon! Just reading about it is making me choke up. Poor baby... I hope the meds work and the vet can find and fix what's wrong.

This happens to us with certain brands. We definitely have our favorite.
So I've worked 4 shifts now (I'm a waitress and bartender) well I wake up this morning after a busy night last night and oh my god my Virginia is so sore! I am only 7 weeks Pp but heck it never even hurt after giving birth. Think LO being only 4.11 had helped with that but I think I may need an ice pack lol
Not sure if I ever posted this. If I did, roll your eyes at me, please.
In the hospital, day after birth, the doc saw me in the hall and asked how I was feeling. I was rough, so she said follow her and she would give me some suppository pain meds. She told DH to take the baby back to our room.
She gave me the meds and also a condom filled with ice, to put in my underwear. I went back to the room laughing and showed the condom ice pack to DH. Told him to watch LO a minute longer so I could go to the bathroom and insert my meds.
DH says, "Do you want me to put some music on for you and dim the lights?" Me: umm... I think I'm ok, thanks. It will just be a second.
DH gives me a really freaked out look.
Me: What do you think is going to happen in there? DH: Well that condom suppository is pretty big...!
I laughed so hard, I woke up LO. DH didn't know the doc had given me a small suppository - he thought I had to put that giant condom ice pack in my anal!
We still ask each other if we want music and dimmed lights, when we say we have to go to the bathroom. What a goober!
I know I should take advantage of Lo sleeping and shower, or wash the dishes/bottles, or eat an actual meal, or laundry, right now but.... I need to catch up on the bachelorette... Decisions.
yesterday I got my 6 week pp clearance. LO is down for his first four hour stretch. poor DH thought he was getting laid. sadly, it's my bathtub I've really been missing...! DH can have tomorrow.
Ok my five week old needs to quit being so grown up already he rolled from his back to his side then eventually to his stomach and then was grumpy he was there really dude it's not even my fault this time. And stop growing up and stay small.
