My mum went overdue with all her 5 kids (20 days over with me apparently!) so I'm guessing that I'll be the same. The nice side effect of that is I'm not looking for signs of labour - if it happens before my due date then it'll be a nice surprise I guess.

20 days??? I will take that kid out myself before I go 20 days past my due date. Your poor mom.
My Grandmother in law (GLAW?) went like 20 days past her due date with my MIL too but that was 50 years ago!
Still confused as to why this isn't a sticky. Mystery mods can you take a minute from your busy "warning" schedule and sticky this?
Stop trying to be mean and offend people... Gosh they aren't going to sticky something that may alienate people who need to know why they feel tired and achy!
We just had a lady in town go into labor at like 44 weeks and 6 days. Baby was in the 8lb range. The midwife said the due date was pretty solid so baby just needed longer ? A dr was monitoring carefully but baby was born at home. Pretty cool
@janit368 i think you just terrified me more than any other post ever has before. PLEASE GOD!! Im worried i can't handle another 5sh weeks, nevermind another 10-11!!!!
No one can predict when you will start labor...until your woo woo hurts. When that happens EVERYONE knows it's go time! Hell, I've been in labor for the last three weeks!
@janit368@Mommaswizz I've seen some pretty nasty looking placentas close to 42 weeks. They go downhill fast. I'll be asking for an induction at 41+3 for that reason alone if I get that far. Knowing that that is the main source of blood supply/nutrition terrifies me more than an induction does. I'm happy this was a happy ending for this patient!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
Janit-we don't need that sort of negativity in our lives right now mm k? Just kidding, but really? No reasonable doc would let you go that long, I'm surprised and glad her baby was ok
@dancegurl1118 I called my mom (also a L&D/ maternity nurse) a little concerned that i'll be pregnant forever and she said something similar... i think it was "Don't stress Caity, they'll induce you before you hit 42 weeks... no one likes an old placenta"
I think i want that to be my new catch phrase.. like instead of "no one likes a party pooper" I'll tell people "Hey! Nobody likes an old placenta"
@Mommaswizz & @dancegurl1118 What if the old ones are like cheese or wine and if you consume them in a smoothie you become immortal? I'm going to try to keep this kid in past EDD for that specific reason.
LMAO @KarasTwin i didnt even think of this in terms of placenta smoothies!!! Hahahahahhaa in which case 44 week old placentas are probably fermented and the ladies enjoying it in a smoothie will probably get waaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssstttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeed
@KarasTwin bahaha I actually almost gagged thinking about that because old placentas have like calcium deposits and gross areas. I mean placenta smoothies aren't appetizing to me to begin with, but with a side of hardened deposits in it? Blechhhhhhhh

Didn't mean to gross anyone out, just feeling extra sarcastic today
New day, new BUMP. And praying that not a single person comments on the latest "I'm this far tell me what's going to happen next!" thread so it can die a swift death.
@Serenamarr I used to creep on May's board because I was originally due in May but I physically cannot take the posts anymore. AND NO ONE SAYS BOO about it being "I'm 39 weeks and no contractions what's next? Helppppp"

ETA: A drunk gif is necessary right now
Also, it's because I'm being Induced.
Also, I'm semi-freaking out.
Also, I'm excited!
Also, bump!
