  • What do you ladies think about middle names should they have meaning like from a family member or is it okay to just put something in you love.. The middle name we chose was joy just because we liked the way it sounded "amara joy" amara mean unfading or eternal so "eternal joy" turns out SO aunts middle name is also joy but we didnt know that till we said it to the family lol

I think either is fine. I like the idea of a middle name having meaning, and we will be using family middle names because it is tradition to honor grandparents/great grandparents passed relatives etc. There's nothing wrong with choosing a middle name that you love (and maybe is too daring for a first name, or has a meaning you love, or honors a favorite author or book character, etc).

Some people just pick middle names that sound nice, and that's ok. I'm not a fan of throwaway middle names like Lynn or Marie or Rose if they don't have any connection or giving your child your name as a middle, but in the grand scheme of things, middles don't get used very often, so you can really do what you want with it.
  • My so mother kept saying we have to use parents names in the baby name so she was telling us to use hers which i found offensive because she didnt say use hers or my mothers just assumes shes more important so that was instantly out of the question lol not dealing with bitter old lady drama more than i already have to
  • I put my foot down regarding middle names.
My now ex thought this one should have his fathers name.
Our daughter already has my mothers name.
But with my kids having his last name I said no. Plus they both hate me anyway!
  • My middle name is Marie after my great grandmother and my daughter's middle name is also Marie (same reason). If we have a boy this time the middle name will be Edward as it is my husband's grandfather's name and my grandfather's middle name. If we have another girl I'm not really sure. I technically have two middle names (both family names) so if another girl she'll probably get my 2nd middle name as her middle name.
  • We are having a girl...but having such a hard time deciding on a name! I love Graycn (or Gracen) Lucille but my hubby loves Gracie Lu

He says Graycn is a boys name. Which I think if it's spelled GraySON yes it's a boys name but if you spell it Graycn or Gracen ....

    What do you ladies think?

It is a pretty name, but I think when people call her by name, they won't know that it is spelled differently. They will probably think it's a boys name. Plus I don't really like the way it is spelled, IMO.
But I also really don't like Gracie, imagine her grown up in a professional job and people calling her "Gracie" just sounds little kiddish.

    Nah

Grace, on the other hand, is a classic name, and you could use "Gracie" as a nickname.
  • Yes! we are having a girl and her name is Makayla Elizabeth
  • My SO is dead set on our baby boys middle name being his dad's name which is also his middle name. Every time it comes up we get into a big argument about it. I can't stand his father honestly and my SO doesn't even get on with him so I can't understand why he wants to include his fathers name in our sons name! He also said he wants it cause it's his dad's name, not because it's his middle name. Any advice on how to resolve this?

I'd just go with it. If we were going to have a boy he also would have had my husband's father's name as his middle name. Maybe give him the middle name and he can let you get more say in the first name?

My husband and I had the deal that if it's a girl her middle name is from my family and if it's a boy the middle name is from his family.

It sounds like that name has family meaning for him to want it. On the plus side it's just the middle name and not the first name!
  • My boys have always called there penis..Peter.
  • So excited!! We finally decided on our baby girls name! We had it boiled down to Honora or Prudence and we decided on Prudence! I've loved the name for well over a year before we had our second!

    Her full name is:
    Prudence Selah Estes

Selah (say-la) is her big sisters name, who passed away in December so we wanted to honor and carry on her legacy!
My DH and I are expecting our first child! A boy.. we're thrilled :)http://www.thebump.com/profiles/kestes946/settings/avatar/index# BabyFruit Ticker BabyName Ticker Anniversary Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

I am having a baby boy due 11/25 and we both decided on
    Camden James
he wasn't too fond of it at first (he likes more traditional basic names) but it grew on him. We are very excited!

Our top pick for a boy is Camden Michael!

  • Wondering what people think of the name Lemon for a girl. We started calling her that before we knew it was a girl and people hated it. Now they r saying it grows on u and they would be disappointed if that wasn't her name. I just don't know bc people don't take to it well at first.
  • We are having a girl and naming her Eva Shareen. It's a good blend of both our cultures. Can't wait to meet our princess!

I think of Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.

Lemon can be considered negative. You call a crappy car a Lemon. Or the quote, when life hands you lemons make lemonade...
That would be my input, she may hear that quote many many times growing up and it can be taken as nobody likes a Lemon. Just my thought on it

I think you have to be Gwyneth Paltrow to get away with naming your kid after a fruit. Any name will grow on people if they hear it enough times, but it still doesn't change the fact that that name is going to generate a lot of side-eye for her whole life....
  • I think lemon would sound cute to say to a baby lol but uts not practical i would just keep it as a nickname. You can still call her lemon without making it her legal name that she has to try to get a job with one day :)
  • My husband and I are having a hard time deciding between Natalie Renee and Darcy Grace which one do you all like?
