I'm auditioning for that show at my local theater next week. I am so incredibly nervous and have been practicing the songs for several weeks. E loves to listen and builds my confidence by clapping and saying "yaaayyyy!"
@WorkinIt mine keeps doing the same thing. I wish just once she would sit longer than a second and she might have a chance at doing something in there. if it amounted to something just once I think it would encourage her to sit a little longer each time and we might have a shot at the early PT thing. But as of now I'm just letting her go when she asks, and get off when she asks. We'll see what happens
@daffy2k they go to a Jewish school, I think they are forced to be French immersion by the government. I will say my uncle has crazy high standard so its possibly nothing would make him happy
@momofcatan the school system in Quebec is all kinds of crazy, so he probably isn't out of line. My dad lives down there and he was filling me in on how it works and basically how detrimental it is for the French. My understanding is that you have to go to French school (not immersion, straight French with very limited to no English) unless one of your parents attended English school in Quebec. Then you have the choice. You may also be allowed to attend English school if your family is English speaking. I'd have to ask again for the exact "rules", but my basic understanding was that the government is really trying to force the French to stay French, therefore hindering their ability to do much of anything outside the province later in life. My dad gets really fired up when you get him talking about it and he's pretty much convinced the government is single handedly forcing the province into inevitable poverty. The government goes way past just the schools too. When I was down there visiting I couldn't even pull up the pottery barn website because it is blocked in Quebec. It doesn't appear in French therefore you can't even view the site. I'm sure there's more, but I was really annoyed by this one in particular (clearly a fwp)
@steamboat123 my IL added a mechanical keypad deadbolt to their door and really like it. It's really nice that DH and I don't need to worry about having a key to come and go. They also liked that they can give the nanny the code and not a key. They also kept the regular deadbolt and lock both over night or when they are OOT.
Aww so many sick babies and mamas. Hope everyone feels better soon!
@CL8badB and @34blondie the McDonald's here is good I feel like we get meat meat over "meat" in the states. It's also Very different from the taste in the states.
I was watching food factory and was shocked to find out that McD's burgers are actually 100% ground beef (maybe the crappiest of the crappy parts?) with no other ingredients. Even my mom's homemade burgers have breadcrumbs and egg.
@NaChelleBeck men are weird like that! When I was still living at home my step dad was able to tell my mom, my sister and I when our periods were going to start, he was always freaking right! My hubby is clueless though, but he also isn't around me as much so that could play a factor in him not knowing.
Ready for Friday! We are hosting our first holiday party for coworkers this year in the new house (we've done party for 3 yrs now but always done it at my cohost' house). Bring on the booze and hopefully A is fun and not a clingy mess which she can be sometimes around too many people
I am at the office all by my lonesome today. My boss is in court all day so it's going to be quiet around here since it's just the 2 of us. I have no idea what I am going to do today. She didn't give me a list of anything she wants done so I guess I'm going to have to look around and see what needs to be done. Maybe I can leave early
We got LO's packet of information for transitioning to the Toddler Community! He's starting transition in January. I'm so excited! If it weren't for the holidays he would have already done so, so I feel he's definitely beyond ready.
I'm very intimidated by the whole potty training journey that the toddler's embark on, though it's a good excuse to try and brush up on my sewing skills ... they have to keep 6 fresh pairs of shirts/pants at school! I don't want to do laundry more than twice a week, so I definitely need to look into making some simple shirts/pants.
Yeah, I don't think that's bratty at all @42butterflies . You have every right to keep your traditions. Why would she change them now??? I hate when people try to change the tradition of what has been done for YEARS. Drives me crazy.
Well, Lily had her 18 month check up. She did great! The pedi thinks she's awesome. She's so tiny though. Lily is only 18.12 lbs. They aren't worried about her, but geez.
Oh, and listening to Benedict Cumberbatch on The Nerdist describing the set when he played Frankenstein made me just fall in love with him. Such beautiful details and the awe behind the words was amazing!
I'm really lucky that both mine and DH's parents are understanding of the fact that we can't be everywhere and that both families deserve us at some point. DH's grandma hosts Christmas every second year in southern Saskatchewan (about a 10 hr drive from us) so we always go down for several days and miss Christmas with my side. The next year my mom gets us for Christmas Day. On the off years we do always get together with the side we won't be spending the holiday with to exchange gifts at some point. This year is my mom's year for Christmas so we are going to DH's sister's this weekend to see his family (the ILs will drive up as well), exchange gifts and go see our niece perform in the school choir. It's definitely a lot of work and travel to do, especially now with a toddler, but to me it's worth it to see everyone. If we all lived in the same town we would still probably do the same thing, but it wouldn't be such an effort since we could just do it one morning or afternoon of any weekend.
It's too bad that all families couldn't just grow up a little and realize that as everyone grows up, the family grows as does extended family. Everyone has the choice of what they want to do for their individual family unit, if that means trading off every second year so be it. Opening gifts at home and going to see family later, ok. I'm sorry to all of you guys dealing with crazy ILs (or your own parents) this holiday. My Christmas wish is that everyone just get along and be thankful for the time we do get to spend with family. Whether over the holidays or otherwise.
I had a colpo with a biopsy on Monday- results in today- I have to get a LEEP. Even though I knew this was most likely going to be the results, I was still kinda holding out hope that everything would be fine without a LEEP.

Awww, I'm sorry. I hope it's not too painful. They're so routine now that hopefully it ends up not being a big thing and you're able to relax very soon.
@megaroo64 sorry you have to get a LEEP. I had mine done about 3 months after I had Jameson and I think having it done so close to childbirth is ideal. From start (numbing shots to cervix) to end (machine turned off) it was about 10-15 mins. Best advice is take some Tylenol/pain meds before and make sure you have the rest of the day to sit back and relax .
@34blondie for my 16th bday my dad took me to mall of America. We also went to the Miller factory and did the tour . Somehow he also managed to drag me along on the tour of the Harley Davidson motor factory.... Boring!
I haven't been able to spend any time with B in almost a week. He's been sick and feverish with an ear infection since we came home from the hospital. It is killing me to not snuggle my baby back to health, but I also really need for M to not get sick. DH and MIL started having some nasty GI thing last night, and aren't able to care for B. FIL is still well (he may be patient zero and underplayed his illness last week, actually) and keeping B safe and mostly happy. He has never been this miserable with an ear infection before. He also keeps asking me to pick him up, but I can't and it makes me want to cry.
Do you think we can get a discount if we order in bulk for some J13 containment bubbles?
It's horrible @34blondie my dad is a huge Harley fan though. Owns 3, one of which he puts in shows. His house is decorated in all things Harley, has the emblem tattooed on his arm and he had a book that lists all the stores in the US and if he is within 50 miles of one he goes out of his way to stop in and get their store shot glass. Road trips with him are a nightmare!!!!
@mcbush sorry you are dealing with the bloody noses, it's def a pregnancy thing. I second the saline and also at night take a q-tip with some Vaseline on it and rub in around inside your nose. Helps a ton!
So I just posted a status on my FB that read "I totally failed just now at white lying to my husband".
I thought it was cute. Then I started getting some ridiculous comments underneath talking about honesty and how it's the best policy and all that shit.
I just thought to myself "My bump friends would've love-titted this". Wife humor doesn't necessarily translate across all social media.
@smpeachey I'm always on mobile so I never see it. Everyday I wake up though I'm like holy crap 1 week, 6 days, 5 days..... I'm freaking out a little over here!

I met someone who works for the FDA and she knows a lot about fast food quality. She said NEVER to eat at McDs. She said they use the lowest of the low quality meat. She said Wendy's wasn't that far behind. She only eats "fast food" at CFA.
Before I got married I made a deal with DH that I would spend Christmas with his family every year. I like how his family celebrates more than mine. They have a theme and everyone performs something. One year the theme was ANTM and DH and I won the top prize of $50. Other themes have been acting, comedy club, American Idol karaoke, and rapping. Also there is always tons of food and drinks flowing. You need them to act as silly as we do. Sometimes I feel bad about it but my parents are really understanding. Easter is their holiday.
