I woke up this morning to blood clots the size of my fist and severe cramping. I call my OB, and they tell me to head to the ER (I'm 5 days out from my d&c).
According to the lovely vaginal u/s, I still have quite a bit of tissue leftover from the procedure. And my cervix is dilated. So they prescribed me methergine to take every 8 hours for 3 day.
I'm pretty upset, because I had the d&c to avoid doing this at home. I'm feeling pretty hopeless about this. I just really wanted to put the physical part of this behind me.
Has anyone else a similar experience? I just really thought this was over with after the d&c.
-----------
I finally started bleeding heavily and passing clots on Friday afternoon. About 10 hours after my last methergine tablet (go figure). And I had another episode of heavy bleeding and blood clots on Saturday. And virtually no bleeding and cramps since.
I had my post op appointment today, but my OB was at an emergency delivery. They tried to get me to reschedule, but I told them that I wanted to have my u/s done today, at the very least. The u/s tech (who has been amazing through this entire ordeal) said that it looks like I've finally passed everything! I still have to get confirmation from my OB, but I'm feeling very hopeful that this horrible experience is coming to an end (at least the physical part of it).
Thanks again, to all of you, for being wonderful, supportive, and genuinely awesome!

Re: Had a not so fun morning in the ER. **updated**
This is so scary. I had a hemorrhage after giving birth and the clots scared me so much. Please take it easy and rest. If the bleeding picks up please call your doc. I know they are giving you meds to help you pass the tissue but did they tell you what to expect? I had a D&C to stop the bleeding.
@ElsieMae, I'm so, so sorry. I'm mad for you that the D&C didn't get everything.
Although I haven't had a similar complication, I totally understand the feeling of just wanting this to be over. These things seem to drag on forever.
I'm hoping the medicine will take care of everything. When are you supposed to go back for a check-up?

Curious about my ute?
They didn't really tell me why it was happening. Just that there was a lot of tissue left over. I assume it was just missed tissue left over from the d&c.
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
Sending you may T&Ps for comfort and healing!

I am so very sorry you are dealing with this.
I guess I never really thought about the fact that they do the procedure "blind". That is a pretty frustrating thought. I could see where this could be somewhat common in that case.

During my last loss, I tried to avoid another d&c by using cytotec. Well, I ended up taking several doses, multiple u/s to check for tissue, and I ended up needing a d&c anyway.
I just wanted it be over and to move on. Well, start or try to move on. It seemed like the longest loss ever, which was a constant reminder.
Sorry you're going through this :-(
