I take Max out but always have him covered. I am not the type that could just sit at home. If I need to go somewhere, I go. We've only done minor errands and I do go when it would be less busy (during the day on a weekday type outing) I don't really want him around too many people cause of being a preemie so I am not going to my cousin's wedding (which is also a 6 hr drive without an infant, and his monitor only has a 6 hour battery life)
I was lurking on May 14 and there's people who were still not going out in public with their LOs at 2 weeks. Is this normal/helpful? (Not trying to be snarky, genuinely curious)
We've taken ours out to see family and for quick trips (ie Dr appt, running into store). We're also taking them out for walks in the morning. Fresh scenery is nice!
I think it's really interesting how everyone has a different approach re: LOs in public. I was asking mostly because we have a two bedroom apartment and I would go crazy cooped up in here.
1. I will be taking LO out and about. I don't want to be cooped up in the house alone.
2. H went to bed before me and is now snoring so loudly. I'm pretty sure I'll be ending up on the couch in hopes of getting some sleep.
3. I don't know if this has been discussed or not. Has anyone/is anyone used Amazon Mom? Since I'm going back to work part time I'm trying to find ways to save money. Is Amazon Mom worth it?
ugabamafans - me too me too!! All of that! I live 45 min from the hospital, 1 hr if there is traffic. My mom's water broke with me and she got to the hospital and she was already at 8cms...
I go between feeling like it will never happen and then getting worried that we won't make it to the hospital on time. We are ready, everything packed and in the car, dog sitter on call and on speed dial. My next doc app is Friday morning. I will be looking forward to seeing how yours goes tomorrow!
I'm not sure what we'll do for going out with baby, not because of germs so much, but because of the heat. We're already under extreme heat warnings as it's been 110 the last few days, and I'm worried about how to keep DD cool if we go outside. At the very least though, we'll probably start early morning or late evening walks about a week PP just to get out of the house and play it by ear with other outings.
DF just called to tell me that he is so excited for tomorrow, he can't think straight. He ordered coffee at the drive through starbucks, paid and drove off without the coffee. Apparently it will be a long day for both of us
Is anyone else feeling almost constant lightening crotch?
Yes. Forget getting out of a chair and trying to walk. Heaven forbid if I wait too long to go to the bathroom. I'm lucky to make it to the bathroom if I do.
New here, and was told this would be a good place to do a little intro. Sorry to be joining so late in the game! I'm kicking myself for not finding this board earlier, it would've made things much more fun along the way! I stumbled onto the board at my work computer since I'm now doing almost nothing to contribute; luckily, I work with 4 men and that's it so they are all convinced that I am nearly crippled (it's not totally inaccurate - my feet constantly feel like I've been standing for the past 48 hours straight). This is baby #2 for us; 39 weeks exactly today, which is the day I was in the delivery room for DD. I tried to do a signature line but haven't figured it out yet - I blame pregnancy for that. Anyway, she just turned 2 in March and so far is excited to meet her baby brother. I also blame pregnancy for my inability to figure out how to flip my avatar picture; it's me with DD and 38 week bump.
Good luck to everybody patiently (or not so much) waiting for baby and congrats to you ladies that already have your cuter-than-words babies!!!
@Rachel5130 bahahaha "evil ojo", I live in West Texas and I'm Hispanic so I'm very familiar with it. Just make sure if they ask you to rub LO with an egg you give them the evil eye lol.
@Rachel5130 I've heard some crazy things from "the egg" to having to wear a safety pin or something metal during an eclipse while pregnant! I've always had reservations concerning things like that and DH has a very superstitious aunt, who I actually get along with very well, that I'm hoping once LO is here we don't have problems.
@wareagle1220 - I've been wondering the same thing. We live in East TX so it's hot & humid similar to the deep south, but DD loves the outdoors and since it seems to calm her down and let her burn off steam at the same time, I imagine we will be outside with baby pretty quickly. I bought a mesh sling that is supposed to be good for use near water, so I'll be trying that to see if it keeps him cool enough. Any tips y'all have for summer babies, let me know!

I found his medical records for when he was discharged. It was only a Td, so he will have to go get it.
Thanks for this! With all the shots DH is given it hadn't even occurred to me to check that he'd been vaccinated for pertussis. Guess who just got a text to go track down his medical records asap!

@lyracelesti very exciting! GL!
@Rachel5130 this will ward off the evil eye. So will a light weight swaddling blanket over the stroller. It will keep out the sun/heat and the overly friendly, thus preventing evil eye-related and other unwanted interaction.
DH came home with this necklace for me, it is the June birth stone alexandrite. This is so unlike him, I don't think he has ever gotten me jewelry. This just made all my aches and pains feel a little bit better. Oh and of course I cried
I'm so tired. I crashed when I got home from work and now I feel so groggy. I pushed myself to vacuum and make some freezer meals. My feet are so swollen and my tummy is so incredibly heavy. This week is kicking my ass!
I just got up to pee and saw blood. I called my OB who said it sounds like the MP but to call him in the morning. I trying to calm down and sleep but it scared me into being wide awake

Bummer you aren't able to get some rest. Maybe try to take a bath to relax you? Eat a meal in case it is labor to give you some energy? Good luck!
And I'm awake again after not the most restful sleep. @MommyP710 this time I woke up to pee (third trip) and I was so starving I'm eating a large breakfast. I'm in California so it's really early. I'm hoping I might be able to sleep another hour after I eat, but I may be too tense.
