Anyone use a white noise stuffed animal? LO loves the rain sound. I was thinking this could be a great tool to transition him from sleeping in the swing and RNP.

We don't use a white noise stuffed animal, just a traditional white noise machine.

Not stuffed animal but we have this thing called "The Shusher" which literally makes a shushing noise over and over. It amazing. And you can get it from AmazonPrime! And it's small and portable which is nice.

LO just learned how to roll from back to belly and back over the other day. So last night when he went to bed we put him in a sleep sack instead of the swaddle sleep sack. It's 4:13 am and I just layed back down after feeding him and checked the monitor and he's on his belly. Freaking out. I know they say once they learn how to roll they are at a much lower chance for sids but I'm still nervous. Not sure I'll be able to sleep I just want to stare at the monitor. Anyone else's LO rolling to their belly in the middle of the night?
Yes, my little guy has been doing this consistently for a week or so. It still worries me a bit, but he rolls as soon as I put him down now. Not much I can do about it. I just make sure there is nothing in the crib and we have no bumpers since he sleeps at the edge with his face almost against the side.
Hello ladies. Just want to do a quick re-intro since it has been so long since I've been to TB. Had baby on 6-27, was posting daily but hubs got new job back down south so we moved and there is no internet at our place. Took semester off from school since we were in a new state but I start back up next week so I'll be able to actually get on and begin participating a couple times a week.
Just saw Jen's profile was fake. Sad, I liked her/him, whoever.
I hope all y'all had a fantastic holiday season and the sigs I have seen all have adorable healthy babies, how awesome!!!
eta- re-intro here since this was the thread I was mostly on anyways :-).
'Sup NC? Welcome back. I've had to pop in & out for quite a while but now feel pretty confident I'm back for a long while. (Crosses fingers that DD or DS doesn't freak out & make a liar out of me). Yeah, the whole Jen thing was bizarre. And it was quite the fiasco. I liked him/her too. At times I was thinking, dang this chick's over the top with a lot of her posts but I just figured it was the anonymity of the interwebs making her inflate her stories. Litera & some others busted it all up. I kind of got in on the tail end of it all but had been gone & didn't know it was happening.
Anywoo - welcome back. Settle in. Entertain us. Tell us all the things.

Dd has been rolling for awhile now. She seems to prefer sleeping on her stomach. I've even caught her sleeping on her stomach and face down. But I've watched her on the monitor and she rolls right on over with no issues.
I'm sure you know this, but make sure you don't have anything in the crib like a blanket or stuffed animal.
Well is was bound to happen eventually... Dd has been whipping herself around to look the other way when she is done nursing. I usually have a good hold of her but apparently not this morning because she whipped herself right off of my lap and onto the floor. Bad mommy!

OH no! Is she okay? I chuckled a little bit, but I really am sorry that happened.

Yeah she's fine, I slowed her fall trying to catch her and she landed on soft carpet. She screamed for a second and then started to talk to me. It is funny, dang kid

Hugs!!! Probably affected you more than her. I am afraid of DS doing this all the time because he is forever attempting to fling himself this way and that!
@danipg - I agree with @stellabunny. I do the same thing with Spencer. If he wakes up and is happy in his crib, I'll leave him be. I think it's good for them to learn how to entertain themselves. If he was hungry, crying or upset, that is a different story.
My LO will not sleep on his back anymore. He rolls as soon as he is in his crib, sometimes crying until he can get on his belly. I also have to use the breathable crib bumpers, because once he got his leg so wedged between the slats I needed to butter him up to get him out (he was fine, just mad!) Its terrifying, especially when he wedges himself in the corner. That kid can get around his crib. But we cant keep him on his back and hes getting too big for the RnP.
Also, way back to whoeever was talking about their DH being worried about silly things - mine caught me giving LO a raspberry on his belly and yelled at me for 'vibrating his internal organs'. My DH is terrified of shaken baby syndrome.
@mamalacy21, is it a cream concealer or is it powder? I know Bare Minerals has a lot of new products now including liquid forms.
I use a mineral foundation but have to spray a cotton pad with a face mist and pat over dry spots so I don't look powdery. I like mineral foundation because I don't break out from it but I find the older I get to more it settles into fine lines.
I second the BareMinerals powder concealer. Their liquid foundation got horrible reviews on Sephora, I stick to their matte powder.
@emilillies I would be on board for that thread! I tried to participate on the previous ones but wasn't consistent. I also think I do better when I have others!
I admit it, I miss when we were all knocked up and if you blinked you missed a good thread, that's how fast paced and occupied J14 was.
I type this as I look longingly at my GIF folder.
I just finished the book "A House in the Sky" and it blew my mind. I love it when books can really stop and make me think. I'm also happy that I've actually been able to read a book.
I'm jealous you've had time for a book! The only thing I've been considering reading is the Ferber CIO book.
I've finally been able to start a new book and I chose Raven: The Untold Story of the Rev. Jim Jones and His People. It's 688 pages.
A. What was I thinking with the subject matter? I need something light and easy right now, bring on young adult fiction!!
and
B. 688 pages??? She'll be in grade school at least before I finish that.
My best excuse is the cummulative months of sleep deprivation affecting my choices in reading.
My father gave me a book for Christmas that is +1000 pages of small print. I'm about 50 pages in and it's good so far, but really dad? +1000 pages? You remember I have a toddler and infant, right?
On an unrelated note, the hubs got a traffic citation in Aug for not wearing his seat belt. I just came across it in a stack of papers and can't remember if we paid the fine. I checked online, but Atlanta is stupid and used the same citation number for something in 2010 as well (not ours), so it told me to call. I called but it's obviously after hours at this point, so couldn't find out if we paid it or not. So, if we didn't pay it and missed the due/court date, what should we expect?
I'm cleaning out a cabinet & found a butt load of slow/medium nipples from DS (3 years old) that are exactly like what DD is using. Should I toss them or is it okay to boil them & let her use them if they look okay? IE: Not chewed on & etc. I wouldn't think an infant could do much damage to the slow nipples especially. Nipples are expensive. And I found a ton.
Thoughts?
Yes, I said butt load because it's more fun than boat load.
SMIL was going to buy DD a bouncer thing off her Amazon list for Christmas. It's January and I still don't think they've bought it. DD is def at the age where she'd love it. I'm thinking about buying one and just retuning the one they buy if it ever makes it....
Side note: anyone live in the DFW area in Texas? 11 earthquakes in a few days is madness. I didn't move to Texas for this crap. I've been through tornados, a hurricane, a top 10 snowstorm, and the marathon bombing. I am done with weather/etc. Is this normal????
I've noticed that many of you ladies have given LO avocado. The last time I purchased avocado outside of guacamole at a restaurant was never. Legit question: what are you all doing with it? I really didn't know that people were cray cray about the 'cado.

Squeeze it to make sure it's soft- that's how you know it's ripe. Buy a lemon too- lemon juice helps it from going brown from the air exposure. I mashed mine up with a fork and stirred in lemon juice and breast milk.
DH is allergic to avocado so it's off limits for DD for awhile. It's one of my favorite foods and one of the first I wanted to start her with, so I'm a little bummed about it.

I would totally use them. Just as you said, just boil them, maybe even put through one cycle of the dishwasher. And yall are good to go.
