I went in for my NST and baby girl wasn't moving much. The other girl got juice so I was excited. Nope, not for me. I got cheese crackers and ice water. I'm now in twice a week for NST and growth ultrasounds every other week plus my regular OB appt.
I've heard mayo can be a major trigger for some people. Sorry mama.
I retested at the 2 hour mark...94. Either putting on make-up and getting my ass to work is a great exercise or I had something sugary on my finger. Odd thing is last night I had an egg salad sandwich and was right at 130. I said fuck it to retesting, wish I had double checked now.
I just can't live without my mayo!
Even when I was at like 160 after an hour I had dropped way down after two hours. The few times I've been around 140 after an hour I've always been under 100 after two hours. unfortunately that's not the number they want me to log
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
I'm going to put my FFFC here: I am literally the worst (G) diabetic EVER. I can control the carbs, but third trimester has been all about craving sweets for me. Nurse said absolutely no sugary treats, but I am eating a little bit (or more) every single day.
Yesterday I shared this sentiment w/DH on the phone and when he asked why, I told him b/c I was eating cookies right now b/c I was hungry and they were there.
(*Disclaimer - only testing twice a day, but even when testing 4 times, my numbers were still in range when eating sweets. Apparently my body is okay with sugar and I just need to avoid major carb fests. Ex. 1/2 a thin crust pizza and 1/2 an order of cheesy bread for dinner definitely puts me over (but hey, needed to see it to believe it)).
I have hopeful news! My sister had gd and her baby was born about three weeks ago. Today she has red robin (and seriously probably had 150 g of carbs, the carbs there are outrageous) and after her bg was only 106! There's hope! It really is the babies, we're not just broken!
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
I'm so looking forward to not poking my fingers anymore. Yes, I want to eat like a real person again, but I'm sick of the damn finger sticking. You ladies who are doing insulin are real troopers. We are almost done, I tell myself every morning, soon we can drink juice again, no more forced snacks at night, and no more frigging needles.
I am insanely jealous of all of you that this will go away when your LO's arrive. The only thing I have to look forward to is a decrease in insulin.

You can be in my new, even awesomer super secret club - the Twice a Week NST Gang!
I'm terrified to find out how much my insurance company isn't going to cover on these NST appts, but I do feel like I'm getting extra special treatment with all the observations!
Add me to that super secret club too, I've been going in twice a week for NST's since 29 weeks. The good thing is that all the nurses know me and are just as excited as I am for when this little girl decides to arrive!
So I woke up around 4am this morning feeling really lousy. was shaking and started throwing up. Decided that then was as good a time as any to test my sugar and I was at 47. Guess the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, milk and apple I had for my evening snack last night (was out of ice cream and lazy) was not enough to keep my sugars up while I slept
I had my AFI and NST this morning. seems my low sugars did not encourage baby girl to be active because she was seriously sleepy for the first half of the test. Some ice water and we got enough activity to go home but I was encouraged to go out and eat since when I left the NST I was still only at 68. decided an Elvis is dead donut would hit the spot (donut with peanut butter icing, banana chips, crumbled bacon and raspberry drizzle). an hour later I was up into the 80s and got to have a glass of milk too.
I miss milk. baby girl seems to make me crave it because I wasn't that into it prior to pregnancy. There were times before the GD diagnosis that I would drink 3 cups of milk in one sitting. I still crave it and nothing seems to be a good substitute for it.
I've already eaten my GD-friendly dinner of grilled meat and vegetables, but MAN do I want some high-carb Chinese food!!! Crab Rangoon, egg roll, Singapore noodle with extra egg & some fried rice for good measure. Oh, the carb-laden things I will cherish once this is over!
Grr! So mad at my GD!
After lunch I got a 135, so I thought of give it an hour an retest - now it's 169!
I'm going for a walk (walking fast enough to give myself a side ache, which isn't hard!)
Update: 1/2 walk brought it down to 120. I'd go farther if my sciatic pain didn't flare up mid-walk.
Thanks for the encouragement, @Rrrrrachel! I was feeling pretty discouraged at first but your post helped
This has been happening to me the past few days, too. I feel like my stomach is emptying a lot slower lately so I am wondering if that's why my sugars are peaking at 2 hour instead of 1. Whatever it is, it's making me crazy. I am supposed to be testing 4x a day, but now am more like 6x because I feel like I can't trust my body. Two nights ago it was 109 1 hr after dinner, but I tested at 2 hours and it was 148. So over obsessing about blood sugar. I'm already doing insulin shots before bed, and I'm worried they are going to put me on it before meals as well when I go to my endocrinology appt on Wed.
AND I have my first NST tomorrow. It sounds like it's NBD, but I know it's going to stress me out anyway. UGHHHHhhhhhh. Two weeks and 3 days until this is over. (Which is also crazy!)
Walking/exercise helps soooooo much. Ive fallen off the wagon a little due to some discomfort and my fasting numbers have crept back up as a result, so I have to get back out there today!
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
Also, my NST wasn't very revealing. LO was moving around a ton so he was peaking at a HR of 160 and dipping to 138 throughout but the doc didn't say anything when she unhooked me and took a look, so I think they're just creating a baseline for our babies 'norms'.
They also measured my amniotic fluid with an ultrasound but I didn't get to see anything
they've been snapping a "picture" when they do my weekly AFI ultrasound which has been nice. I feel like I get something for the 2 hours I spend there. My baby girl likes to sleep in the morning so we're in the 118-125 range when we get started and then they poke at my belly and try and irritate her. I drink ice water and we get up to 150-160 for the 4 times x 15 second min active runs they require to let us go home.
The tech I work with stays there and talks with me most the hour they monitor and has explained what they are looking for so I can help keep baby active and get out of there so I can get to my office instead of waiting for hours to see what they need. its kind of fun to interact with baby and see her heart rate change based on what I am doing
My sugar has LOST ITS MIND today. I was a full 20 points over anything remotely normal at breakfast. I'm blaming my head cold and hoping it passes ASAP!

Drink a big glass of water and retest! That is crazy!
My in-laws need to leave town b/c they are stressing me out and affecting my numbers. I'm only testing twice a day, but my dinner numbers (when we are with them) have been at the high end of the range (118ish - can't go over 120). I'm afraid they are going to go over, and I'm going to have to go back to testing 4xs a day.
Or MIL is going to send me into early labor. They have either been actually staying at our house or at a local timeshare and coming over some nights for dinner, and instead of helping, I'm spending hours cleaning up after them. Yesterday DH and I took them out on the boat, and then I had to clean up all their crap they left on it b/c they were tired and wanted to go home. Then after dinner, MIL and her boyfriend were still tired and went back to their timeshare - leaving plates, cups, dirty napkins, etc. all over the kitchen and table.
Sorry for the vent, but I'm almost 34 weeks pregnant and shouldn't be climbing in and out of a boat carrying wet towels and bathing suits you couldn't bother to take with you or leaning over to wipe up your pizza crumbs on the floor or picking up your dirty napkins.
My sugar has LOST ITS MIND today. I was a full 20 points over anything remotely normal at breakfast. I'm blaming my head cold and hoping it passes ASAP!
If your body is trying to fight something, you are going to have tons of sugar spikes. I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and it didn't matter what I did, my sugar levels were out of control. Hope you feel better soon!
Jesster11 I would have made my husband do it or left it to them to clean up the next day. If anyone dared say anything I would give them hell. I'm sorry you're so stressed out. It sounds like you might need to set down with DH and explain that this cannot continue. Its not good for you to be this stressed out (and probably exhausted).
New GD friendly recipe for you guys to try. I didn't measure anything just kept adjusting and tasting as I went. It's a chicken sald which I normally hate but love this. It's chicken cubed (I just used a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store), Greek yogurt, mayo (I used more yogurt than mayo because I like the tang), diced celery, diced red onion, chopped bacon, avocado, and blue cheese. It's awesome on its own or on top of a salad. Plus with all the protein from the chicken, yogurt and cheese it barely registers when I test!
Rrrrrachel so sorry you're going through this. Turns out my crazy low numbers Friday were my indication I was getting sick with this stomach bug. My sugars were crazy all weekend but in the low end instead of high. Keep hydrated and just let your doctors know you were sick and you did the best you can. My doctors were really understanding about my numbers when I got sick earlier in the month.
@Melody*W*@playingonadream - I've talked to DH about this, and his reply is always that he will handle everything. Unfortunately, it will take forever for one person to do everything, and it's not fair to him either (plus, in some cases, the sooner it gets done, the sooner they can get the heck out of my house). But I did tell him that when they leave, he owes me something really, really, really nice.
I did put my foot down this morning (when I woke up with still swollen feet and ankles and cramping) and said that I was done. I told him to go do something with them tonight, and I just wanted to rest at home. And tomorrow night I am having dinner with my bff.
It's just frustrating, healthwise and especially with GD, to be eating out every night or getting take out (his mom had previously been at the timeshare by herself for a week two weeks ago, and there were lots of dinners out b/c I didn't want to deal with it). Plus I'm annoyed he/we are spending so much on food with a baby on the way.
In total, MIL (with various guests/relatives) will have been around us for 2.5 weeks (with DH seeing her every night), but only staying at our house a few of those nights. However, she should be offering to cook us dinner instead of leaving a mess. I would never do that to someone in general, especially someone at the end of their pregnancy - and I am going to make sure LO is raised the same way.
Jesster11 I hope you don't take offense to this but I don't understand why you have to see them and go out with them every day. Just because they are in town doesn't mean that you have to see them all the time or need to entertain them. They're on vacation shouldn't they be out having fun and seeing the sites on their own.
Quite honestly I'd have lost my mind by now if I had to entertain and clean up after my ILs for that long...or my parents for that matter. My IL live about an hour away and we see them for a couple hours once a month MAX.

No offense taken. I'm not seeing them every day, but DH is. They live across the country, so he only sees them a couple times a year.
I'm trying to balance out not being rude (even though they are) and also taking time I need and letting DH go by himself. Plus, they are not planners at all, but plan on doing dinner with DH EVERY night. And sometimes I feel really bummed sitting home alone with DH is out (plus, he's been great about cooking dinner, etc.).
It's a tricky balance, but at least there is an end in sight. And a high possibility with me being snarky w/MIL. But I'm trying to avoid that and am now putting my health and LO's health first.
I made St. Patricks day food for work. Including frosted sugar cookies. I ate like 10 of them. I am feeling massive guilt. So much so that I am putting myself back on testing 4xs per day tomorrow even though my dr said I could cut back to two times per day. Clearly, I cannot be trusted on my own accord.
Had a pig out session, ate two sloppy joes washed down with sweet sugary Koolaid, carb-limits be damned. It was amazing, and totally made me feel 5 again....

I know if it was my inlaws regardless of how long or often they were visiting they'd want to spend every moment with us...it's painful
Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA these last few days. My dad had a stroke and was hospitalized over the weekend. He's being operated this morning so if you can spare any prayers and positive thoughts please send them his way. As for the GD, it seems like we've all sti got our struggles with it! I've only got 2 weeks left and it seems to have been pretty stable the last few weeks as long as I don't make any drastic diet changes.. I had an appt with my doctor yesterday and she mentioned stripping my membranes to help possibly move labor along and avoid being induced if it comes to that. I told her id have to read up on it and research but there doesn't seem to be much evidence it actually helps. Any thoughts on the process?
Sorry about your dad! I hope it all goes smoothly today. Idk if membrane sweeping helps, but my understanding is aside from some discomfort there's not much risk, either.
I had my growth scan today. Aside from feeling like I might pass out or throw up from laying on my back it went fine. Very average sized baby with a slightly large abdomen.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
Thanks Rachel! That was my understanding too, the doctor said it may or may not help but there's no risk to it so I might go for hit. Meeting with the high risk doctor Friday so will see what she says also.. So glad your growth scan went well except for not feeling too well.

Sorry about your dad christinanoelle. I had my membranes stripped with my son and it didn't work but if I get to 40 wks again I'm planning on trying it again. It's uncomfortable but I don't remember it being that terrible.
christinanoelle I'm so sorry about your dad. I'll send good thoughts his way. A friend of mine had the stripping done when she wasn't effaced or dilated much and she said is was excruciating and it didn't work. if you're effaced or dilated past 3 cm it is supposed to be less painful. Most the other people I know that have had it done say it wasn't too bad. I hope it is painfree for you!
@melody I'll keep you posted! @playingonadream I've started dilating already but not sure about effacing. My doctor didn't mention it. If I decide to do it, I'll let you know how it goes! It's crazy to think that next week I may have a baby!!! Lol
