From what I understood of our seat the handle should be locked down and have space to flip up. Since the base is fastened in the back and loose in front, in the case of a collision the carseat would flip up, keeping LO safe in his shell against the backrest of the car. Our seat specifies down anyways.

My toddler has a bitting and hitting problem. I don't know how to stop it. She only responds to spanking. I can't be spanking her all day. There has to be a better way!

@mamrotu73 I had an AR cop chide us recently for having the handle up on LOs carseat.  He also hopped in the backseat, jostled it around on the base, made us tighten it even more, and was generally pretty aggressive about the whole 'teaching moment'.  Apparently he'd just come back from a big training on proper carseat safety.

irisheyes I'm so sorry about your injury  

RTTers who are baby thumpers (that sounds fun), are your LOs already teething?  My mom mentioned to me she used to do the cheek thump thing if we bit when our teeth started coming in, but my LO is nowhere near beginning to have teeth.

Apparently these people allow themselves to be matched up by 'specialists' and indeed, they meet down the aisle.  The whole show documents their wedding, honeymoon, moving in together, etc.

dH and I dated 3months before we got married.which I agree is totes stupid but we celebrated 11 years on Monday!

@RedDawnsRevenge‌ I know it's an old practice but my mom used soap in the mouth for my little brother it helped.

@irisheyes hope you feel better soon! Burns are so painful

Skipping a lot...

We're home now after a trip to Charleston.  Baby did awesome at the beach - the sportsbrella was a total win.  He liked the waves, even though they startled him at first.  I got some time with my girlfriend while our parents and aunts and uncles (seriously, people started springing out of the woodwork for this baby!) watched kiddo.  Great fun!

Totally watched it today too. I think it's a horrible idea, especially for a reality tv show and marriage should should be taken a little more seriously but I couldn't stop watching anyway.

So get this. My old neighbor runs a daycare from her home. The other day a three year old DIED going down a slide and being strangled to death on a vine. My heart breaks for him and his family! Apparently a few things have come up on her safety inspections and she never fixed them (don't know if the vine issue was one of them though) I also feel bad for her, she is one of the nicest people I know and she loves children so much. I never wanted her to watch my kids though because she'd just walk up and down her driveway all day while kids played in the backyard. And we ran into her at the farmers market two months ago she insisted on flipping LO on to her belly in her bassinet, saying that animals sleep on their bellies in the wild. They really don't, and you're going to suffocate my kid. This was a week after we moved and news trucks were banging on people's door and sitting outside with cameras waiting for her to walk outside. CRAZY situation and now I can add this to my list of things to worry to death about.

There was a story like that not to long ago on Facebook. The family had a backyard play set and they had tied a karate belt on the bar above the slide. Well one day the mom heard screaming and crying from the back yard. Lucky for the woman her (I think) 8 year old son was out playing with her (I think) 6 year old daughter. Apparently the girl went down the slide and the belt twisted catching her neck like a noose. The son was about to push her back up the slide and run in to get mom. Mom could see the play set from the kitchen window where she was but not what was going on.

She had bruising and swelling and was cleared at the ER but I could have been worse. If the brother had pulled her down or hadn't been string enough to push her back up the slide things could have been worse. I'll see if I can find the article.

Ugh guyyyyyyz. LO took a nap from 10:25-10:50. And I JUST got him down for his second nap (2:50 here). Does that sound like way too much awake time?
