We decided to have some friends and family over for DD's birthday. It always stresses me out when I have people over my house. I obsess over cleaning and worry that its not tidy enough. Well I spend all Saturday morning cleaning and tidying up and then everyone came over at noon. It went well and I didn't have any panic attacks!! Also, I took all three kids to church by myself on Sunday!

Vets, vet techs, experienced animal people: my cat has a cut in the pad of his foot. He is limping but it's not bleeding. I think there actually might be sap in it. He is acting fine and isn't licking it. Should I take him to the vet or just let it heal? We're not going to let him outside in any case until it's better. I just don't want to take him and dump a ton of money if it's something that will just heal on its own.
Put breast milk on it!
I would say let it heal. We did this when Daniel Day Lewis (yes, that's one of our cat's name) scratched his eye. Totes healed up on it's own. Just like babies...if kitty isn't inconsolable, I'd say just ride it out.
So what do I do with all the really cute summer outfits and sandals people have given me for B in 6-9 month sizes? It is going to be October- December in West Virginia, it's not like we are down south where the weather is mild all year round....add leggings maybe?

Conversely, we got a shit ton of sweaters and fleece pajamas that LO will never wear. Do people not count? 3 months = middle of summer, chello? We're just donating ours.
This, but we're saving ours for potential future babies.

Yes thick leggings and long sleeve onesies under the tops.
Friends have invited us to go swimming at their place tomorrow. What do I put LO in? Do I need to buy a special diaper? I can't even find swim trunks small enough for him. Lol
Disposable swim diapers are apparently too small for our LOs right now but you should try to find a reusable swim diaper so the poopy doesn't go everywhere!
So today is a save power day. I'm supposed to try and not use energy between 2 and 6. It's supposed to be 106 today even though it's super over cast and it's 51% humidity right now. Don't think we'll be getting out of the house and saving money today.

Do these happen on pre-determined days for certain addresses or just because of your weather for everyone? It sounds uncomfortable though with those stats.
They notify you 24hrs before the save power day. I'm not sure who picks these days. Yesterday would have been better it was sunny but only 100.

Maybe go to a mall, preferably one with a kids play area and nursing room? Free AC?
We used a small huggies swim diaper yesterday. Target was sold out Of reusable ones in his size. LO is maybe 12 lbs and the weight class started at 16lbs. We just hiked it up as far as we could and pulled the sides as tight as we could. It was up to his armpits but it worked! He pooped in it with no leaks! I got his suit at Old Navy. It's a little big and its a 0-3 month size.
Old Navy has great stuff too...and it's all on sale right now!
@KendraColeslaw Because it's hot and she's tired of being pregnant... She would be fine to wait but just doesn't want to, and her doctor is okay with it apparently. She did the same with her first too (even though he was born in March), so I wish she would wait to experience the excitement of going into labor! She'll be 40 weeks on Thursday, and she's already 2cm and 50% effaced.

Oh hey, I changed my username. Keeping the avatar for now so I don't totally blow everyone's minds. Had a pretty good weekend. Busy, but DD took bottles from my BIL, so I felt free to escape to run errands a few times and just generally be ALONE and it was glorious. Heading to my inlaws tomorrow morning, so trying to finish doing laundry and pack and clean today. I'll be in spotty internet territory for about a week, so if I'm scarce, now you know why.

She's close enough. And if she has two its probably easier to plan what to do with the older ones if she knows when she'll be having the baby.
Yeah, four days is close enough. I also got induced 4 days early and my baby is awesome sauce.
My MIL (who I also live with) doesn't work and lives on the same street as they do. I promise it's not a planning issue. But yeah, it's not too early, so I know he'll be a-okay! I just think it would be exciting to wait to go into labor, especially since she didn't get they experience the first time around.

Just got an email from my daycare...he starts 4 weeks from tomorrow. Waaaah! I know I shouldn't complain, but it seems so soon with an actual deadline!

Not saying I don't agree with you, but to play devil's advocate I was 2 cm and 50% effaced for 3 weeks - I was 11 days late. I agree it's better to wait if you can, but man did I want to kill someone during those 11 days.
I get what you're saying. Thankfully I went into labor on my own at 39 weeks, 4 days. I'm sure I would've been very tempted if I would've gone past the 40-week mark!

I got knock of flips from a wahm with hemp liners. Is there a store brand detergent I can use or do I need to go somewhere special? I feel like I'm lost in a foreign country lol
@edoliesmom two days is not going to make much of a difference in the long scheme of things, also drs are more likely to induce sooner on subsquent babies (thought 2 days is really not considered sooner) YAY for you and you SIL though! I love all the a babies.

I was walking my two dogs and wearing LO in the ergo360 carrier when a dog tied up in a front yard came charging, broke off the chain and attacked my dog. It was terrifying, I couldn't do much because I was worried first and foremost about LO. My little dog was flipping out too and I was worried the dog might turn on her and grab her by her throat. All I could do was shout NO. The dog backed down as Buckley fought her off and I screamed at it, then the owner came out. I was sure Buckley was going to have a bite, but I checked all the spit soaked areas and there was no broken skin. LO barely even woke up through the incident. Sucks though because I can't walk the dogs with the baby, and I have no one to watch the baby, or accompany me on the walks to wrangle the dogs.
This is my world right now as well. It has led to more lounging on the deck in the sun since I don't feel like dealing with the hood animals ('domestic' plus wild). I stopped using the stroller because I couldn't strong arm the leash, but have had much more success with the front pack. Most people here don't use fences because they don't want their own animal to turn into an easy snack. Leash use is at owner's discretion as well. My dog's head has been chomped on 2x in the last year. Good thing it is big. That being said we are like the Wild West out here, so if you live in town then that shit is out of line.
@Vinny424 Alot of people have great success with regular Tide, even though its supposedly a no-no. Sadly the detergent game is a bunch of trial and error. I've gone through several different detergents and still haven't found one that I feel is that wonderful. However, I'm opposed to ordering online unless I have to so I stick with what I can get locally.
I'm so sick of living in nursing tanks bht everything else is so damn inconvenient when you pump 6 + times a day I can't imagine how much of a pain it would be to actually breast feed with a normal top on
Also I held out for two days but caved today and baked cookies Am never ever going to lose the baby weight

Here is a comparison chart of different detergents. Depends on what factors you care about. Like if LO has sensative skin and you want to avoid additives.
I feel that the type of water you have maters more than anything when choosing a detergent.
Lo has been throwing me through a loop the past week. He will not go to sleep easily during nap time. I feel terrible because I almost lose it every time. It makes me so sad, but it's so frustrating. Sometimes I feel like the worst mom.
I'm just sitting here when all the sudden this spider just walks across Ryver and me while we're nursing (and bumping)! It's amazing how you can kill a spider with your bare hands when you don't want to wake the baby!
Isn't it funny how when you get around other moms, you always talk babies/labor/milestones, yadda? I've got so much more in common with DH's friends' wives now, and I love it.
I painted my toes for the first time in a year today... I don't recognize my own feet.

Hugs to you! This is where I am too. They will regret these naps they aren't taking one day!
Oh how I wish someone would put me down for a nap 4-5 times a day.

Pretty sure you aren't the worst mom. You're human and have every right to get frustrated. I feel your pain. Mine won't nap either unless he is on me. And even then he wakes up after 10 or 15 mins. I suppose I should start figuring out some kind of schedule but I suck at that.

We have an HOA, so dogs are supposed to be leashed, of course people are supposed to pick ip their dogs shit too, but it's allover the sidewalks. The dog was chained in the front yard, but it broke the chain. I personally don't believe in chaining animals, they can hang themselves, and it makes them more of a sitting duck for coyotes than a fence.
It sucks too because I already have another problem dog in the neighborhood that I avoid. It gets out a lot, but even on leash the owner can't control it. It's super aggressive and has also attacked my dogs and jumped up on me while pregnant.
Of course I don't have room to talk. My little dog bit the UPS man's ankle last week, so we have the trainer coming to nip this thing in the butt (pun intended). Generally my dogs are very well behaved, but I do think they are more protective with the baby.
