I don't even know how to answer. My tearing was never described in degrees.

Maybe she didn't tear maybe it was more of a friction burn from the baby shooting out so fast?

I was able to avoid tearing at all with DD.. im not sure I will want to know how many stitches/what degree it is this time, if it happens.
  • Yikes. I read it. I don't want a vagasshole :((
  • I've heard so many differing opinions on nipple confusion that I don't know what to think anymore. I'd love to start pumping ASAP if I can, is this not recommended?

I think it's one of those things that you need to watch for/be aware of, but is actually not as common as the scaremongering makes it sound. Anecdotally, I don't think it happens super often but is a major burden for those it does happen to. DD (and I, for that matter, according to my mother) was happy to take any nipple from anyone as long as there was food coming out of it.
Exactly this. My DD also tried to feed on anything. She latched onto DH once in bed.

I totally get saying "this is a possibility"; I hate that a lot of people say IT WILL HAPPEN, like it's a guarantee. It's like colic or reflux - some babies have it and it really is a big stressful factor in figuring out how to keep them happy... but a lot of babies don't, too.
Yesss! No guarantees about anything. Everything is kind of experimental at the beginning, just looking for what works for you and baby.

New favorite part of being pregnant: last years spring dresses are becoming this years spring shirts

I totally did this last weekend! Wore one of my sundresses as a tunic with leggings.

@pineconey‌ I can't stop laughing about your face being in labor! You totally crack me up.

  • DH and I took DD to the circus last night. As we were watching I hear some mom start yelling at her around 5 or 6 year old son. She then laid him across her lap, pulled his pants down, and smacked his but.

    I was horrified.

  • I'm feeling grumpy and impulsive and give no fucks today. Seriously considering taking my overgrown pixie cut turned mullet problem into my own hands and making DH take the clippers to my head. How hard can it be to do a faux hawk? Punk rock preggo whale? I'm into it.

This is me too and it's become really frustrating since I read so many contradicting things. Esp with when to start pumping and how exactly. If baby has to eat every few hours, then will there be enough to pump afterwards to save? Then I saw that some feed baby with one boob and pump the other but then others say that can cause oversupply.
Oh and yes, then there's the possibility of nipple confusion :-<

RE Lent and Pregnant women. I'm not christian and was actually raised Muslim. I know for a fact that pregnant women are exempt from Muslim fasts. I dated a lot of Jewish boys growing up and know that with the except of Yom Kippur, pregnant women are exempt from their fasts, so I had to look it up, that's just what I do. accoring to this site https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/activities/view.cfm?id=1013 pregnant and nursing women are exempt from the Lenten fasts. Eat all the meat you want ladies!

Oh yeah! Thanks for the info.
SO can go to hell for making me eat that fish burger!

  • Long one....sorry in advance....didn't really want to start a separate thread on this, and even though you're still internet strangers, I trust those of you who post in this thread more than the random passers-by on others. This morning SO and I got into an argument totally unrelated to the baby, or names (argument started over putting up a shelf). All of a sudden, in the middle of said argument while going on a tirade about how things always have to be "my way" he springs on me that he insists that we hypenate the baby's last name. This has not been an issue up until now. We are not married (somewhat obvious, as I refer to hm as SO vs. DH) nor do I plan on getting married any time soon. I had considered his last name for a quick minute early in my pregnancy but have decided against it. First, my father is the only male, and my brother (my only sibling) & his wife had a girl. Right now, it's looking like my LO will be the only one of this generation to carry on our last name...unless my brother & SIL have another child and it happens to be a boy. Also, my SO already has a son with his ex-wife who has his last name. Most importantly, perhaps, I decided I refuse to not have the same last name as my child. I'm not really sure what to think about this new turn of events. Not sure if he was just saying it in the midst of an argument, but that's unlikely....perhaps this has been on his mind for some time. I am not particularly fond of hypenated last names (no offense to any of you who may have one), but I didn't completely just rule it out either. (It's actually NOT always MY way or the highway). I am trying to be rational and fair about this. But, up until a few hours ago I thought it was settled that LO would have my last name. What are your thoughts on the matter? Anyone else dealing with a similar situation? I realize I'm asking a bunch of internet strangers a hugely important question regarding the future of my son....but I'm not promising I'm going to base my decision on what you determine for me (haha!). I just want a litmus test of what you think is reasonable....

Soo I went into the kitchen at 930 to make something for breakfast and instead organized my pantry, cleaned the washer and dryer, cleaned out and scrubbed down my fridge, scrubbed down the counter cleaned all the appliances out and down and reorganized my butlers pantry ...looked at the clock..it's 1230 whoops. Lunchtime it is.

    You are totally in labor.

  • Thanks, @deidremaria‌. I appreciate your input. I completely agree the baby is as much his as it is mine, and I certainly do not intend to suggest otherwise to him or anyone else. I think he will be a wonderful father. I guess what I struggle with is that I don't know that I ever will get married again. Nothing against my SO, but I did that once before and failed....and frankly didn't take my husband's last name either. Hyphenating doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world to me...I think I just need to process it a bit.
  • @rockstarlaw‌ : definitely unfair of him to spring that on you out of no where. I am not married to my SO but I decided our baby will have his last name just because it makes things a lot easier if for some reason something happened to SO or he ran out on us. (Not saying I think tht it's going to happen, I've just had several family members have to deal with it). I feel like I can't really give you any solid advice other than go with what you think is right for your kid and your relationship. There isn't a right or wrong way to do things, and there are pros and cons to each option (your name vs his name vs hyphenating) so you really have to sit down and calmly discuss all the options with him.

I'm sorry your first marriage failed. A great new relationship came from it though so once you guys have cooled off you'll both be able to talk about it more. And like the others said his request is pretty pretty reasonable even though the way he brought it up wasn't.
  • Not sure if the nesting bug has finally hit or I was sick of looking at the truck. I just spent two hours cleaning the inside of that bad boy. It practically looks as good as they day we bought it.
  • DH is very excited for big milk boobs. Am I even going to want them touched? Sounds like between the soreness and possible bleeding zipples (yes that's what I call them) he won't be going anywhere near my fun-bags.
I was a chronic leaker. I had to constantly wear a bra, even during ST. I didn't mind that he felt, but that's as far as that went, lol.
  • My bf says he wants nothing to do with my boobs once milk comes in
  • @rockstarlaw‌ don't want to beat a dead horse but wanted to say I agree with PP- for your litmus test :)

    Good luck!

When I told him they'd probably be hard he was so disappointed. Ahaha! I think he's expecting double-D's, porn-style. Poor guy.
Aww man. He's in for a surprise.
  • I just want some pizza.
  • Hi Ladies.  Just finished catching up!

I was "blessed" with oversupply with DS.  I would leak like crazy on the side DS wasn't nursing on.  I would literally leak through newborn diapers.  I ended up getting a Milkies Milk Saver to wear on the non nursing side, and would have to stop nursing and empty it into a bottle.  I once leaked 14 oz on one side while DS nursed on the other.

I think this overactive letdown/oversupply led to some of the latching issues we had, and contributed to me having pealed nipples for over a month, and nursing through that.

I did get clogged ducts occasionally as well, but this happened even after my supple leveled out.

Oh and random symptom of the day, I woke up with the tip of one finger completely asleep!  Took about 5 minutes for it to wake up, and 15 before the feeling was back to normal.  No idea what that was about.  If it is a symptom of labor, baby is doing it wrong.

For those of you with no plans tonight, Lifetime is showing "Sorority Surrogate" which appears to be about a crazy grandma that holds a pregnant sorority girl hostage after her daughter (who was supposed to adopt the baby) dies.

    Seriously, wtf.
  • @rockstarlaw‌ - I agree with PP that he's not being unreasonable about hyphenating. Or what about the middle name being his last name?

I can relate, LO will have my last name. But then, DH also took my last name when we got married, so it was never even a topic for discussion.
  • My boobs would randomly be sore and I didn't want DH near them. Much like during pregnancy. I also leaked a fair amount and that was just kind of awkward.
I also had a hard time sort of "flipping the switch", and going from boobs for food, to boobs for fun, and back again. So while I was nursing it was just kind of like, those aren't for you anymore those are for the baby. But that was totally a mental thing for me, that not everyone goes through. DH would grab and squeeze them and play sometimes, but not very often.

The funny thing is my bf refuses to touch my boobs once baby is born because he says that my boobs will be baby's once he's out here
