Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Just found out my OB is going on vacation or some crap and won't be back until the 25th. This LO better get cozy because he is NOT allowed to come before then.
This happened to me with baby #3, my OB was on a cruise and was coming back on a Monday, I went into labor 4 weeks early and had the surgery the Saturday night before he came back. I ugly cried when I met the house OB who performed my c-section. Not fun meeting someone moments before they cut into you.

Is anyone still working out?  If you are, you deserve a slow clap....at this point I consider getting out of bed a work out!
LOL- No. My last workout was sometime in October...

  • Yeah.....I feel like doing house work is the most exercise I get.  Vacuuming has become my cardio.  I have gotten so lazy that I will sometimes drive the 3 blocks to the bus stop in the morning because I am always late and if I have to walk to fast I get BH.  Props to all of you who are still making a concerted effort to go to classes or do any sort of formal exercise.  I'm impressed!

  • It never fails, every afternoon I get hella huge contractions. It seems like they're stronger every day, and a part of me is like, "whoa this is it!" I just hope that when the time comes, it's not the worst traffic time in Atlanta. I'd never make it.

I am on the outskirts of Atlanta. Rush hour traffic is crazy, praying for early morning or late night rush to hospital!!

  • Also I bet she feels like a dick if you say you can't leave baby alone due to BF. if she doesn't immediately say, I'm sorry of course bring the baby- I'd be surprised.

HELP! I'm a bridesmaid in a July wedding. Just got the bridal shower invites-it's 2 1/2 weeks after I'm due. Apparently it's a 3 course luncheon and open bar (wut) and I just asked if I'd be okay to bring the literally days-old baby. She responded 'it's more of a women's lunch, I'm not inviting kids.' I don't know how to respond to this....this is all new to me. Is this normal or should I be offended? I don't have any babysitting options and I'm planning on BFing. Fucking weddings.
IMO that was rude of her. Even before I had kids I knew newborns needed to go everywhere with their moms. If I wanted to see my friend then I needed to get used to having baby there too until it was old enough to stay with dad or a babysitter. My reply would be, "okay well I'm sorry but I will have a newborn and unless I can bring the baby I won't be able to make it." You can use BF as an excuse OR if you really want to go just bring the baby anyway- NB really are so easy to have out and about, especially if you're breast feeding. They just sleep and eat- she probably doesn't realize that.
    ^ that. I think it's rude too.

Well I wouldn't be offended, but since you don't know if you're going to deliver early, on time, or up to 2 weeks late, I'd probably just explain that there's a good chance that you may not feel up to a shower that soon after having a baby (should you go late), and if you go early/on time, just politely decline the invitation, explaining that you won't have anyone available to watch your newborn baby; that you understand her request for "no kids" but a newborn doesn't really fall into the category of kids you typically want to avoid at an event like this... So if it's that much trouble to bringing the baby, you regretfully won't be able to make it. That's just me. If you can find someone to watch the baby and can handle a few hours away from LO, by all means go and enjoy!

  • @dani+california‌ - I would let her know that you either need to bring the baby or send your regrets. I mean, this is assuming you aren't late. While I definitely don't agree with brides having to plan around others' schedules, she needs to understand if you can't attend. Being a bridesmaid doesn't mean sacrificing yourself!! ;)
  • My husband is the sweetest. He just texted me and asked if I'd like to see Veronica mars by myself tonight (my favorite thing to do when I'm stressed-movies by yourself are so freeing :) ) and he would stay at home with DS. I'm so excited!!! Huge VM fan!!

Rectal pressure is the #1 symptom I could do without right about now.

Constantly feeling like you're going to shit yourself is NOT my idea of a good time.
I love it because,  i understand. During my nap i thought i wasnt going to make it when my legs got tangled in the sheets as i ran for the bathroom...only to have nothing happen.

  • Drugs for the section pain? Or the cluster feeding?

I found it REALLY important to stay on top of my meds for the first week or so. Like set an alarm on your phone for your next dose, important. It's SO easy to forget when your next dose is when you're worried about the baby and nursing and diapers and all that.

But it DOES get better, I promise. Do you have the belly binder? I used that religiously too. I kept it really tight and it helped with moving around and getting up and down. To get up from bed I found it easiest to be on my side and use my arms to push myself up, more than to try and use my and to get up.

The hormones and feeling so overwhelmed is the worst! Cluster feedings have slowed since we figured out all the feeding issues! I'll email you
