Between all the new babies being born and those of us lucky ducks who are still pregnant and just can't sleep, I figure maybe it's time to start a middle of the night thread? I loved the MOTN thread on my old BMB, it was great to read through during feedings and such. Also it helps the board not completely die once all the babies are here.
Re: Moms who bump in the night
Baby made some intense suckling noises about 30 minutes ago, so I picked him up to nurse. But I had to pee, so DH took baby on his chest to keep baby calm while I peed (which is quite the operation around here).
Baby has since stopped making noises and is absolutely adorably asleep on DH's chest (DH is now also asleep). I am totally wide awake and not tired at all. Is it safe for me to sit here a bit while they cuddle asleep in the bed? My heart is melting and I know I should put baby back in the crib but this is too precious for me to interrupt just yet.
I know bed sleeping is a big no-no for choking reasons, but is it okay if I'm not asleep?
im laying in the hospital bed trying to yell at DH to get him to wake up so he can give me DS. It's a lot of work for me to get out of bed. So untill
then, it's crappy hospital TV shows at 3 am. Haha
It's dangerous so I'm a-bumpin' instead!
DH fell asleep on the couch and I didn't bother waking him up to sleep in the baby's room just bc I wanted to do a mock trial of when he goes back to work (owning night duty alone can't be that bad, right? Better get used to these nights!)
Also I'm tired of waking up on my back like a beached whale with both hips hurting.
I had my outlet yesterday going out for two hours (bc I haven't been outside since a week ago - major cabin fever losing track of day vs. night); who knew the power of getting ready with a purpose was so refreshing?! I showered, put on make up (even put on eyeliner and that hasn't happened since baby A was born), and met up with my girlfriends for a much needed nails night! It has been forever and a day since I got my nails done - I wanted to cry out of happiness.
I think we all need an outlet once in a while. It definitely also helped with the baby blues I've been feeling. Ugh, much needed night for sure.
Anyone else ever deal with side sleeper and have suggestions?
@rikopy I am so glad I'm not the only one that thinks this!! Sometimes DS will take a while to burp afterwards and I just feel so bad!
So I am eating leftover cookies from our baby shower and watching the bachelorette that I taped.
I seriously can't wait for this baby to get here. I feel like I am getting more and more impatient to meet her which is making me a beast to live with. Poor DH.

And in in regards to burping a sleeping baby- I would put DS upright on my chest and lightly burp him. I think most times when he fell asleep he didn't burp. Also try starting around the shoulder blades, work your way down to the bum then back up.

@Wolfie646 My DD was a side sleeper and the nurses at the hospital told us to roll up a receiving blanket to prop her up a bit on the one side. Worked fine and she never had any issues.
@entropicallyfavored My DD was breastfed and rarely burped or spit up. I think they do get less air when breastfeeding, and some kids just aren't as prone to burping/spitting as others.

I went to bed last night hoping that I could try and sleep in before my 36 week appointment at 930 today. Ha! Yeah right! I am debating on getting a cervical check even though I was at first going to deny them. Only because my mucous plug came out and I get sporadic cases of BH. Decisions decisions...

With our first LO we had the rainforest bouncer by fisher price and I still love that one and have nothing but positive things to say about it. With our 2nd we had Comfort & Harmony Cradling Bouncer, Cozy Kingdom and it was ok. Nothing like the rainforest one.
I wish they they made more vibrant bouncers with lights. They all seem so plain.

Eta: Now I just need to find the swing at a garage sale and I would have the whole set!
Also, it's a good thing our dog is cute, he's a naughty little nugget.
