Re: Introductions

  • Introduce yourself: I'm from southern Ontario, became a momma in February 2022 to my daughter.

    Due date? November 10th

How did you find out? We started trying in January. I had a chemical pregnancy and it took 5.5 weeks for my period to come (I'm super regular) which was very hard. However, on Valentine's Day we conceived again and found out from a pregnancy test in early March.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): I have a daughter who turned one in February, as well as a dog. I'm Canadian so I'm still on mat leave with my daughter and don't go back to work until June -where I'll only work 4.5 months before I go on mat leave again. My husband is the best and most hard working man and we are lucky to have him.

We love to garden, can, and I just bought a pressure canner which I plan to use to make lots of meals in jars for when  baby arrives. We do maple syrup every year, my husband just started to keep bees and we run a side business making laser cut wedding items, baby nursery names, and grandkids/family rounds. We are busy people and we love it.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Tired, slightly nauseous, lazy. Pregnancy with a 1 year old in tow is much different thos time around!

  • I get the same thing! For us, it’s the only way to be tho. Love knowing exactly where things come from!! All my plants are started and in my basement under lights right now waiting for warm soil!
  • Yes! We will probably need a gardeners thread! :D
  • So glad that I’m not alone with this! My friend’s advice was, “be prepared to be told that pregnancy is the cause of pretty much any non-emergency for the next 30 weeks” but this is definitely something I didn’t see coming
  • Hi everyone.

    Due date?
23 November. Although I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my last pregnancy so we're looking at 35-37week delivery if nothing goes wrong.

    How did you find out?
We weren't planning as we already have 2. I ovulated later than expected. I realised when I got to day 33 and my period hadn't started that I better take a test.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
I'm married. We have a girl (5 in May) and a boy (just turned 7 months)
I work as a physiotherapist and started my own practice with a partner a few months ago.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Mostly very mild symptoms. I get a bit of pelvic pain especially around my left SIJ and I'm quite tired

    >how did you find out? I haven’t had my period since November but blamed vigorous workouts. I finally tested the day after Easter just because I felt off. Sure enough it was positive. My doctor did an hcg blood test since we couldnt go by LMP and that test put me at 6 weeks. Went for an ultrasound 2 days ago and we were all surprised there was a whole baby with arms and legs in there and not just a little bean. Moved me to 11w 2days.

    >how are you feeling? Other than insomnia waking me up around 3:30am everyday I haven’t had any symptoms. Crazy because I knew I was pregnant with my first at 4 weeks so I’m mind blown I had no idea until 9 weeks this time.

    Due date?
    11/29/23

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):
I’m 37 and working in the medical field. I have a 7 year old and my partner has two boys (10 and 12) from a previous marriage.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)
I’m finally starting to feel a little better after some bad months of morning sickness but I definitely still get sick when I wake up and at night. Emotionally I’m leveling out but I had pretty bad mood swings until about a week ago.
  • Hello, I'm D. I'm due mid-November 18-20, date has changed twice. I'm 39 and it's my second time getting pregnant, first was a MC. Was trying to get pregnant, so took a test when I missed my last period .

I'm not feeling super great, I'm happy to be pregnant, just anxious a lot of the time. I'm also not a fan of the experience for myself. I just had a whole pouting moment because I've gained more weight than I thought I would and a lot of my clothes don't fit. The is secondary to a few weeks of round ligament pain and previous weeks of morning sickness with poor appetite. I also got superficial phlebitis, it's been a interesting journey thus far. Learning to honor my feelings, while trying to stay positive.
  • Introduce yourself:
Hey, I'm Alyssa and I am in Texas.

    Due date?
    11/11/23

    How did you find out?
I got up too fast and cramped and knew what that meant. We were actively not trying. Whoops.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?):  I am 36, married for 13.5 years and this is my sixth baby. My kids are 10, 9, 7, 4 and 2.  We have lived overseas and in other states and travel the world with the kids. It's so good for them.   Kids are not expensive-lifestyles are.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms)  I am just tired.

Hello mamas, I'm new to the Bump forum and am super late to this party, but I'm looking forward to getting to know and share with you! I'm Lindsay from near Atlanta.

    *Due date:*
Our little one on the way for November (20th-ish... I'm pretty open with the due date and I just say "November.")

    *How did you find out?*
After a helluvah time with my first surprise pregnancy (twins! one with medical complications! no real time for postpartum recovery!) I was amazed to discover last fall that I did, in fact, want to bring another kiddo into our family. In February, after TTC for a few months, I found out at home that I was pregnant after missing my cycle for a few days. My husband and I were/are excited and just a bit nervous, even though this pregnancy was definitely planned.

    *Tell us about yourself:*
I had to quit my job when my firstborn needed a lot of therapies and medical appointments, and even though both twins have been stable for a couple years now (they're almost 4), I've happily and thankfully opted out of the workforce indefinitely. (I do have a small freelance gig in UX Design + writing, but I am looking forward to a long maternity leave from it.)

Once I got the chance to get acclimated to being a stay-at-home mom and homemaker, it surprisingly grew on me. My kids and I get to spend a lot of time outside with nature and reading at home, and I love it. I always like being in nature and working with my hands as a kid, and now I can do that almost as much as I want, just now with two of my favorite humans! I forage, we have a vegetable garden, and I'm an amateur herbalist. I read a lot (currently on a Jane Austen kick, but I love an epic fantasy). We're a pretty crunchy family and cook most things for ourselves. While I was at the hospital for the twin birth, I'm eagerly planning and hoping for a home birth this go round, and I'm very thankful to have a midwife I trust and feel safe and comfortable with.

*How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)?*
Honestly, some days I feel crazy for bringing in a newborn to what's honestly a pretty well-oiled machine. We still have craziness, sure, but my kids play so well together for the most part, and we have a great, almost easy rhythm to our days. I trust that the adjustment period will be temporary, but boy am I going to miss these gentle days.

And physically, y'all, I have a serious pelvic floor issue that my pregnancy has exacerbated and that's extended to my hips. I feel pain in my pelvis every day, and it's made worse by stairs which I just put a moratorium on. I've been working with a pelvic floor therapist, and I have some tools that help, but it's going to take a while to heal, I have to *rest* in order for it to heal, and it. just. sucks. I'm also pretty worried about how this problem will affect my birthing this next baby. Sigh.

Besides that and some intermittent fatigue, though, this pregnancy has been great. I'm thankful to have no other complications.
  • Hi my name is Ally .I did IVF and find out for my baby on the 4 week. On the 6 week I heard his hear and it was the most amazing sound in my life . We are very excited to meet him . I used to work as a fashion designer for Wovens but I got laid off when my company Lafayette148 understood I was pregnant. How did you find out? I felt a little weird physically then decided to take a test and boom!! Pregnant.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?): This is my first child, although I have a cat so I guess you can say this would be my second😉. I'm a manager at a restaurant full time. I like writing poetry and short fiction and listening to music to pass the time.

How are you feeling (Any symptoms, emotionally)? Emotionally I have my ups and downs. I think it's more downs than average though sadly. But pregnancy-wise, I'm pretty happy to meet this little human that's been growing inside me for all these months. Although I am quite nervous about being a first time mommy.
