@stevieraem Do you know what is causing him to panic? Like is he reading specific financial articles or researching the cost of different baby items/products?
@makingbacon idk really, I’m thinking maybe it’s cuz we’ve bought a fixer upper house 2 years ago and it’s still not fixed up all the way. But we’ve made a ton of progress, we just mostly we’re focused on the yard, garden, and barn - and now we kind of need to shift gears.
I told him baby isn’t going to care what the house looks like lol probably got a good solid couple of years before it remembers anything lol. I think he’s feeling pressure to have everything perfect in time. Certainly isn’t coming from my direction tho. I’m sure we will be fine lol
@stevieraem Would it help if he had something concrete he could do? One thing I wished we’d done way sooner was baby proof the house. DS1 started rolling and moving around way earlier than we expected (mixed with a healthy dose of procrastination). DH told me a few times while I was pregnant with DS1 that he just wanted something he could do because I was doing all the baby growing things. He set up the crib and everything for me, but that wasn’t until mid 3rd trimester.
I’m considering doing cloth diapers for this boy. I used them off and on with both my girls but didn’t love the brands I had back then. My girls are 7 and 9 so it’s been a minute 😂. Is there a pocket diaper brand that anyone in here has used and loved? It’s been so long and when I google none of these brands are familiar to me anymore 🫠
@Kiek I know nothing about diapering unfortunately
I hopped on here to ask if anyone had plus size friendly maternity leggings they liked?? My big normally stretchy ones I lounge in are starting to cut into the middle of my belly - it’s leaving a mark so it’s probably time to upgrade.
@stevieraem - I just bought some online at Motherhood Maternity on sale. They have Capri leggings and full length. Super comfy and I think they were around $20.
Has anyone tried spinning babies before? I’m hoping I won’t need it but baby was breech at my scan on Friday. I want to try it out if he’s still breech in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I have another scan at 30 weeks and possibly another one around 36 weeks depending on a few things.
@ashsowers2020 I know very little about spinning. I know when my friend looked into it over 10 years ago the odds of baby flipping back were enough that she decided not to do it. I will say, this baby was completely sideways at his anatomy scan and he recently flipped on his own. It was the weirdest feeling I’ve very experienced. My girls didn’t have this issue lol. But I can definitely feel that he’s in place….for now.
Thanks for your response, @Kiek! I know we still have a good 20ish weeks left so he could always turn lol my other two were never breech for any of my scans or at delivery so this is a first for me.
@ashsowers2020 I also don't know anything about spinning... but, just in the short span of my anatomy scan, my little one went from transverse, to head-down, to right-side-up, to transverse again. The babies have plenty of room to move around pretty freely this early on, and I wouldn't worry about him potentially being breech until much closer to go time.
@ashsowers2020 I did spinning babies with my stubbornly breech daughter in 2020. I tried everything to get that girl to flip, but she just would not. I'd say it's worth a shot. I personally wanted to try everything I could to get her to flip just so I could know there was nothing more I could have done and she was just comfy that way. If it comes to later in your pregnancy and baby is still breech, happy to talk about everything I tried. Ultimately none of it worked, but like I said, I think it's all still worth a shot.
I apparently decided to make myself anxious today. When did everyone start feeling kicks? I’ll be 18 weeks on Sunday, and I’m not feeling anything yet. I think it was later with DS2, and the doctor couldn’t tell me if I had an anterior placenta this time or not, so my brain has decided to overthink it.
@makingbacon I definitely understand the feeling. I'm just over 21 weeks with a posterior placenta, and I just started feeling regular movement a little over a week ago. Not enough to do kick counts or anything, but I'm feeling at least something everyday. So when I went more than 24 hours without feeling any movement I panicked and went to get checked out. They told me I definitely did the right thing, but that it's still common to not feel a whole lot yet even at 21 weeks. (Thankfully ultrasound showed she was very active in there, just not moving hard enough for me to feel it all the time.)
@makingbacon I am 18 weeks today and haven’t felt anything yet either. Everyone keeps asking me and I’ve got nothing. I try to focus on it and concentrate on being able to feel baby and still nothing… so - no help here but I feel ya. Thanks for the insight @chrissdee! Makes me feel better.
@makingbacon@stevieraem - I’m just hitting 20 weeks and feeling some tiny tiny flutters that are not every day. This is my third and I’ve had an anterior placenta each time. I’m shocked I’m feeling this early, it was definitely like 22+ with my first

With my youngest daughter I didn’t feel them for quite a while. I had an anterior placenta. Also just her personality, she isn’t a whirling tornado like her sister 😂. She’s much more careful and super sweet. We all say she’s like a spoonful of sugar and my oldest is pure spice lol. When I finally did feel her move, it was very dainty and light lol. I imagine this boy will be a little warrior based on his movements and spartan kicks 💀
@makingbacon I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow and haven't felt anything yet. I have an anterior placenta. But at the anatomy scan, he was in there kicking and punching away so at least he's trying to let me know he's there, lol.
Hi! Can anyone give tips for what is “okay” to get used from other people? I have the “want the absolute top notch for my baby” syndrome but am also feeling the pinch! All answers appreciated 💙
@macarhona I get everything secondhand except the car seat lol. They grow so fast, they poop and spit up on everything 😂. Usually baby stuff is so lightly used because they can only use it for such a short season that it’s practically new!
I thought for a second I was feeling the bubbles you read about but I ended up having a ton of actual gas that day and haven’t felt anything since…. When it IS baby, would a FTM definitely know????
@stevieraem I am a 4TM, and I still second guess everything. I know people talk about bubbles, but I've never definitively been able to tell the difference between gas bubbles and baby bubbles. I have always felt tiny pokes.
@stevieraem I second guess bubbles. I know it’s the baby I’m feeling when it’s actual bumps. Sometimes I even question those stills unless it’s repetitive. It becomes more obvious as the baby gets bigger though and then you’ll know for sure. For my first I didn’t feel anything until after 20 weeks. This time I’m feeling kicks at 18 weeks but it’s not consistent. Some days I feel a lot, other days like today nothing…

thanks @makingbacon and @varimama! I’m beyond pumped for my 20 week appt in 6 days!!! Hopefully I’ll see the little nugget jumping around and feel a lot better!!
@Kiek - a little delayed on answering here. I cloth diapered my first in 2019, and looooved it. I couldn't get my sh*t together enough to do it for the second, but I'm hoping to bring them all out again. I'm going to scratch back in the memory archives:
The brands I used were Bumgenuis (I bought these second hand and they are very nice! But pricey) and then I also got a set of the ALVABABY ones on amazon, and they were very comparable for waay less money. I never quite figured out what inserts I loved most, I think the hemp/bamboo inserts were nice. I think I layered the hemp bamboo on top of the microfiber. I'd prefer not to use anything microfiber, but they come with the diapers and are very absorbant. So the hemp/cotton ones were fast at absorption, then the microfiber underneath was super absorbant and could hold a lot!
Writing this makes me want to pull them back out and try them with my son who is still in diapers!

Just curious if any moms have had early births or had any treatments as a result of preterm labor? All the November 2023 moms are now between 20 and 24 weeks along. Just curious if anyone has had any issues with an otherwise healthy pregnancy beyond 20 weeks. TIA
@knottiee3a565ac10d4d5f7 what specifically are you asking or I guess worried about? Preterm labor or just in general things going poorly after an otherwise healthy 20 weeks? I have no experience with preterm labor, but unfortunately do have experience with the latter… Which I will just say here my PSA to everyone is to know your baby’s movement patterns, and if you feel any change in movement AT ALL (slower OR faster)-go get checked!!! Don’t wait and never ever question if it’s silly or whatever. Better to get checked and everything be fine than the alternative!!
During my third pregnancy I was given this to help me stay pregnant. My wee bit just wanted to be here as much as I wanted her to be. It's perfectly normal and safe to take. I'm beyond grateful my doc prescribed it to me. Despite the labor scares in my third trimester she made it to my scheduled C-section date. Happy healthy little girl.
FTM question - how many swaddles and of what sizes should I have on my registry? Same question for sleep sacks… TIA guys! (Shower is the 7th so I’m trimming excess and double checking some things)
@stevieraem honestly I ended up with SO many of those muslin baby blankets (which I used as swaddles) that I would recommend just having one or 2, especially since it’s a common gift for people to give off registry. Also, my daughter had a super strong moro reflex so we went through so many different kinds of swaddles/sleep sacks until we found what worked for us. I ended up having a LOT I didn’t use because she would bust out of them. So you could do a few different types, but I wouldn’t ask for multiples of anything because that type may not work for you.
@stevieraem I personally love the stretchy swaddle blankets. Like copper pearl for example. I like to have 4+ because my babies tend to spit up a lot. But you might find something that works better for you.
@stevieraem We always had 3 swaddles in newborn size. My babies hated being swaddled for long, so we didn't need any past the newborn size. Will your baby go to daycare? We always had at least 4 sleep sacks per size - 1 for daycare, 2 for home, and 1 spare for daycare or home. I swear I am the world's worst swaddler using the blankets, rivaled only by DH, so any that we were gifted were used as regular floor blankets or to cover baby up during doctor's appointments.
@stevieraem I want to second the suggestion of just having a couple of a few different types of swaddles and swaddle transitions to try and see what you/your baby likes. My oldest I swore by the swaddle me Velcro swaddles but did use the big muslin swaddles some too. My 2nd hated both those but loved the love to dream swaddle sack.

thank you guys!!! I have a few different sizes in a few different styles on there - just wanted to make sure they weren’t taking up unnecessary space in the list but it sounds like I should leave them there - maybe add more sleep sacks… 😬 4 per size eh??? We are doing daycare. Get this - daycare lady lives 0.5 miles away!!! I live in the COUNTRY so finding her was a miracle - she seems normal, house seems clean, and she’s a neighbor… can’t even believe it honestly. Hoping it’s meant to be.
Also - got the rhogam shot yesterday and did turn completely white and sweaty but did not die. So 10 points for me lol
Anybody else here get diagnosed with polyhydramnios? I have to go for a bunch of additional testing now and hoping to hear from others who have been through the same.
