@carziie Hi YES, oh my gosh the hip pain at night is real. I tried a magnesium oil last night and gave myself a quick massage on my calves and hips, and it did wonders for most of the night. Still a bit of pain closer to the morning, but it at least allowed for more hours of restful sleep. Might be worth a try! Otherwise, ask your doc for different stretches to do before bed and try rolling out your lower back and hip with a tennis ball. All things that have helped me over the past couple of months. Good luck momma, we got this!
Has anyone got any tips for easing night time leg cramps? I've barely slept for the last two nights as I keep getting awful cramps in my feet and lower legs
@LisaG182 I don't know if this is what helped or it's just a coincidence but I also suffered from really bad leg cramps at night. I mean, like crying out in pain bad. My husband even thought I was going into early labor the first time it happened! But someone told me to have a banana before bed and I haven't gotten one since. It could be the potassium or I'm just lucky recently. I know for non-pregnant people, potassium, magnesium, and calcium increase can help. I don't know if this also works for pregnant people, though.
So I have never been a back sleeper but during my first pregnancy, and again now, I wake up on my back sometimes throughout the night. Having close friends who lost their son at 38 wks and others whose child has cerebral palsy, both likely due to lack of oxygen at some point in utero, the thought of sleeping on my back and possibly hindering blood flow to the baby is one of my worst fears. I’m aware that it’s mostly irrational, but what are your tips for not sleeping on your back? Or if your Dr is adamant it’s ok, what do they say about it? I’d like to avoid buying some sort of expensive pillow or sleep contraption, if possible, given I’m in the 3rd trimester and it’s my last pregnancy.
Hi Mamas - has anyone here dealt with amniotic bands? Trying to find real stories because google is awful. As far as we know we only have a small one, unconnected as of 20 wks, but will have a 29 wk US next week to look for any changes and I’m trying to prepare myself…
anyones babies measuring 2 weeks bigger then what you’re suppose to be? went to my ob appointment and was told baby is measuring 32 weeks instead of 30. what does this mean lol
@carziie I would think baby is larger, but I'm no doctor. If your ob isn't worried, it should be okay. It's not my own experience but my friend tends to have larger babies and always measure a couple of weeks ahead. She had natural vaginal births. She's supposed to give birth to her fourth child in July and was measuring ahead two or three weeks the last time I saw her a few weeks ago.
I am 30 weeks measuring at 34. My ob felt around my stomach and feels that it is more of an excess of amniotic fluid than a large baby but is sending me for. Growth scan at in 2 weeks to get more precise measurements of the baby.
Moms of 2+: what did you do, or wish you would’ve done, to make your life easier when coming home with baby #2? While I think our daughter will eventually adjust to the new routines and be the best (and bossiest 😂) helper, I’m definitely expecting some issues at first…how did you balance baby and toddler and healing and housekeeping and resting? Is it even possible to balance it all? Tbh, I wasn’t in love with the newborn stage the first time around and I truly don’t expect my feelings to be completely opposite this time, but I don’t want her to get lost in TV land while struggle to adjust to having a newborn again.
p.s. daughter will be 3 a few days after brother is born and husband will obviously help as much as he can, but he doesn’t get paid leave and is otherwise out of the house from 6:30-6 M-F 😞
anybody have any tips on collecting colostrum at 37 weeks? do i just use hand expression and collect it with a syringe, i also might buy that haaka colostrum collecting kit is it worth it?
Anyone else been swelling like crazy and then all of a sudden the swelling got better? I live in the south so it’s been hot and late pregnancy swelling has been AWFUL. I had been waking up with cankles and my hands so swollen I could barely bend them. But the last two days all of a sudden my swelling has substantially decreased. Wondering if this is maybe a sign of labor coming (probably wishful thinking and should just be happy with the relief that comes with less swelling) but if anyone has experienced this would love to know! 😃
@mristich20 I haven't experience swelling, but I would talk to my doctor/midwife about it. You seemed to describe substancial swelling that decreased overnight. This seem extreme so I would talk to a professionnal about it just in case.
Thanks! My OB is aware and my blood pressure/urine have all been normal. Probably swelling from being 38 weeks plus and the summer in the South! Glad you haven’t had to deal with any swelling it is no fun!
@mristich20 I live in a place that's over 105°F (40°C) almost every day. If I'm out and about, my feet, ankles, and calves get swollen. The doctor said it's normal because of the blood floor and try to put my feet up when I can and not stand/walk for a long time without breaks. I also found that wearing compression socks helps a lot. It may seem like it would be hotter but they make me feel cooler actually. As lojg as swelling isn't sudden in the face and hands, it's sadly normal
