Re: May Randoms
@emeraldcity603 I hope the HFM stays isolated to the one kiddo and gets better quickly!
Anyone have a good iron supplement you give your kid? Been doing more research on my daughter's night terrors and I'm starting to wonder if she's iron deficient. She eats a great diet, but I actually started paying attention today to iron content of what she ate, and it comes up short of the recommended amount. It turns out iron deficiency has been linked to night terrors, so now I'm curious. I'd ask her doctor but......... But if I can total things up and she likely isn't getting a full 10mg a day even when I'mn paying attention, I'm not too worried about iron poisoning with a kid size dose of a supplement.
Guess I didn’t need to have my “last ice cream” earlier this week out of self-pity 😂
@emeraldcity603 I had no students in my birth plan and they just ignored it lol. I know people have to learn, but I was anxious and allow them in my care 95% of the time. I was not feeling up to it on induction day. I did have a couple of great residents and a couple of terrible ones. I think I'm just going to be more vocal this time around. Or let my doula be vocal for me since I'm a chicken
I also didn't have residents, but the LD nurse was playing with my daughter's hair in the birth canal and kept waving people (other nurses, surgical tech, etc) in to see how curly her hair was. At first I was like "ok but seriously I tried to shave, just can't see anything down there" until I realized it was my kid's hair, but everyone was getting a full-on money shot. I'm typically the Never Nude type so it was a little out of my comfort zone...but I just decided what the hell, laugh it off, I'll never see these people again. This time I don't care at all -- as long as my OB is in there, they can invite the peanut gallery and I don't really mind too much.
And my issue wasn't necessarily a modesty issue, but the residents that were on the birth team were just incredibly unhelpful. My regular OB eventually came in after 4 hours of pushing, took a look around at what was going on, and kicked them all out. They hadn't changed my position or tried anything different and were making me feel incredibly frustrated. I would've ended up with a c-section if it wasn't for her. Their bedside manner was just treating me like I was an object and I felt every bit of that.
As a physician, I really appreciated all of the women who let me participate in their births way back when I was a medical student. Although I didn't end up choosing OB, it was such a valuable experience for me. I'm sorry that some of you have had less than optimal experiences with residents and students (and attendings, for that matter).
