@dapperbuttercup I forgot to ask, did they put in a referral yet for maternal fetal medicine (or fetal medicine, I don’t know what country you’re in)? I would ask for one now, so you don’t have to wait even longer after NIPT results since those can take up to 2 weeks. The extra wait to see the specialist after test results felt awful. I believe the CVS and amnio are the same in that they run 2 tests - a FISH one for rapid results in 3 days (my OB explained if it’s positive it’s positive - if it’s negative, you have to wait for full results to know for sure), and then the more in depth/full one that takes about a week.
@runningyogimama they did and I got a call today! But, the doctor they have for my cvs has terrible reviews and for such a sensitive day I don’t want him, so I’m either going to go with the other doctor or ask for a referral to a place a friend of mine went to. Right now the cvs is scheduled for two weeks from now, was hoping sooner but we will see if I get a new doctor tomorrow 🤞🏼 I’m sorry you had the experience you did. I know that must have been so so hard.
@dapperbuttercup I’m so sorry for the stress this is causing. We had friends have s thicker measurement, I don’t know the actual measurement, but NIPT was then low risk. They didn’t do anything else and their son was born perfectly fine.
@runningyogimama@anniemarie887 Thank you both so so much! Got my NIPT drawn yesterday, waiting for those results... March 8th is the CVS. I have two ultrasounds done that week so I will be armed with everything I can prior to the procedure.
Hi! Any advice for a possible yeast infection? I don’t think I’ve ever actually had one before (definitely have had some UTIs in the past though), but the past few days I have been itchy down there and also my nipples itchy and tender. My OB has Monistat 7 as an approved OTC med, but I’ve never used it before. And with it being a weekend, I haven’t called my OB yet. I’m also seeing a new OB in a couple weeks.
So any natural recommendations? Or anything I can do to not make it worse or develop into full blown yeast infection? thanks!
Does anyone in 11 weeks having terrible headaches. I had migraine kind of headache twice in 11 week. My energy level drop downs. I never had migraine headaches ever till now. Is it normal to have this in 11 weeks ?
@songsofjoy i'm an occasional headache person when not pregnant, but i have them daily from like 5 weeks til 20 something weeks when pregnant. headaches are definitely common, just touch base with OB if any concerning symptoms with it.
When should I start thinking about baby registry, shower, etc.? 13 weeks on Saturday and MFM talked about delivering me a couple of weeks early. I feel like time is moving fast and I’m semi overwhelmed. Lots of family and friends out of state. First baby so we have no clue and starting from scratch.
@babysavvy It’s never too early to start a registry! You can keep it private for now and change it to public whenever you’re ready. Most baby showers I’ve been to are about 6-8 weeks before the due date (or expected delivery date, in your case), and invites go out about 4-6 weeks before that. My other BMBs had threads about registries and showers - I assume we’ll all start talking about them in this group soon too
@babysavvy I was going to say exactly the same - you can always start a registry early and keep it private for now! Then, as you research things or someone suggests something you want, you can add them there so you don’t forget!
I’ve always made registries at both amazon and target, so I always get two completion coupons/can make two “final” purchases with my completion discount at different times rather than all at once.
I have been struggling with infections my whole pregnancy and have had to use several medications (metro gel, tercanazole, monistat and currently using clotrimazole). But my baby is growing strong and healthy at 13 weeks. If it’s just itchiness you can use a vagina topical cream if your uneasy about suppositories. However, it won’t get it to go away. @ash_marie33
Hi I just got done with the ultrasound. I am 12 weeks today. Got done with NT scan. Blood work everything was done today. Results would be shared within 10 days. Just wanted to check if NT scan ultrasound how much NT is considered as normal within the range?also can u get a fair idea from ultrasound if everything looks normal
@songsofjoy There's a lot of measures and observations that are considered in a NT scan (heart, arteries, lenght of femur, nasal bone, etc). If you mean only the nuchal translucency measure at the back of the neck, under 3mm is usually considered normal (from the person who did my NT scan), but that's only one measure.
@songofjoy every practice is different, but mine has to MFM and they sign off on every sono. If the sonographer finds something they will bring in the MFM right away and not let you leave. Sadly I watched this happen with a couple yesterday who had their NT same time as mine.
Sore uterus anyone? I’ve had it off an on. But just hit 14 weeks and it’s just more sore than usual. Typically this is the month where my uterus gets a lot bigger, so assuming it’s just stretching. But don’t love the feeling.
@litzi-2 Yes. I just hit 14 weeks too. I notice it more when I’m blowing my nose and using the bathroom. I’m achy also in my hips, lower back, and upper butt when I move a lot.
@litzi-2 just started noticing it saturday, which would've been 13w3d. this is not my first pregnancy, so i chalked it up to that as well. both of my college besties have said the aches/pains are a little more heightened after you've done it before.
This is probably a long shot but has anyone ever received abnormal gram stain results and normal culture results from the same sample? The nurse told me the gram stain is preliminary and the culture is final, so the culture is what they look at. Just seems weird. I thought for sure they were going to tell me I have bv and I'm so relieved that I don't but surprised that I don't even have a yeast infection. I'm going to take miconozole anyway in hopes that it helps.
@woodland26 if I'm remembering my college info correctly, gram stains just tell you a certain type of bacteria is present. A culture is where the sample is grown over a few days and then assessed under a microscope to see what the exact bacteria is. So a stain basically tells you a category and the culture tells you exactly what it is. Basically, the culture would be the accurate results. The stain is more like a screening. I honestly could be completely remembering incorrectly, though.
@mokamonster thanks for that info! It definitely makes sense. My best guess is that what appeared to be "altered" bacteria with the gram stain actually turned out to be "normal" bacteria when they completed the culture.
About sleeping positions, I know there is some conflicting data. I'm a routine back-sleeper and new data shows this is okay up to third trimester. I've been trying to sleep on my side more, though, to prepare me for when I can't sleep on my back anymore. It is soooooo uncomfortable even with the pregnancy pillow and full back support. I feel like I can't breath and my body is being crushed. Asked my doctor and she just freaked out and said to never sleep on my back, but no advice. Any advice other than a pregnancy pillow and back support to help me feel more comfortable on my side?
@babysavvy that has literally been my nights recently and it is taking a toll on me. I still find myself waking up throughout the night and in the morning on my back
Hello everyone! This is my second pregnancy of twins! However anyone have any recommendations for maternity clothes to fit? My previous pregnancy they were fitting real good through the whole pregnancy, this time around they hardly fit.
Anyone's bump app update and make it nearly impossible to get on the forum? Have no clue what's going on with mine but it keeps redirecting me to the bump homepage when I click our forum.
Finally got on! Not sure if they fixed it, but it worked normally! @woodland26 I should've tried through the mobile site. I didn't think of that. @froggerblue I tried going through so many different paths and nothing worked
@anniemarie887 I didn't use it before but started using it around when we found out we were pregnant. It's like I forgot I could just open the website 😅
Is anyone having trouble with an upset stomach? I’ll be 24 weeks Friday but yesterday I started getting terrible stomach cramps and watery stools but today it’s gotten worse and I hope it’s just a nasty bug that’ll go away soon! lol
Is anyone having trouble with their hips being on fire all night long? I’ve tried every position to sleep with all the pillows you could imagine and nothing seems to help to terrible hip pain I am having. Any suggestions??
Re: Questions Mega Thread
thanks!
