Hi all, I'm 10 weeks today and this morning I leaked out about a tablespoon full of brown blood. I'm freaking out. My first OB appointment isn't until Feb 6 and I want some peace of mind. Going to try and see a doctor today. From what I've been reading brown discharge shouldn't be concerning but I guess the amount scared me, it leaked through my underwear and Shorts. Praying everything is OK. This is my first pregnancy and I'm 34 years old.
@lala2023 something sort of like that happened to me when I was pregnant with my son. I was 11 weeks and had a day where I bled a decent amount like that (mine was even red), but not enough to fill a pad. I called my after hours nurse line from my doctors office and they helped calm me down. It doesn’t hurt to give yours a call and they can ask if you have any other concerning symptoms or if there’s something that may have irritated your cervix. I never had anymore bleeding for the rest of that pregnancy and my son (now 4 yes old) is healthy and fine. Hoping it’s just a random scare for you like I had.
I went in to see the doctor and was balling my eyes out telling him. He wrote up a requisition for an ultrasound but they aren't available to see me for another week! Doc told me to just take it easy and rest for now. Since the morning the spotting has lightened up significantly. No cramping either. Hoping this just fizzles away. Now just a waiting game for that ultrasound, I just want peace of mind.
Hi all, So this is my second pregnancy and first ended in a miscarriage at 8w. A month after I passed the tissue. I had to have surgery to remove 2 polyps and clean out my lining. So to say I was traumatized was an understatement. I have been in therapy for the last 4 months healing from that. Anyways, I am 8w 3d today. Friday I started spotting(bright red streaks when wiping) went away in 24 hrs. Then Wednesday night same thing. Went away by morning. My OB has been great I’ve had US at 4w,6w4d and have one scheduled for Monday at 9w. She called me this morning and told me to come in bc this obviously is concerning.
I saw the PA since my OB was at the hospital not in the office today. I left alittle confused. Good news via bedside abdominal US little babe has a strong heartbeat and looks to be measuring around 8 w. The PA said that is positive but does not mean I won’t miscarry this babe. She said I could have SCH and that is a 50/50 chance of fetal survival. She also said it looked like some blood was pooled at my cervix and I could expect more bleeding but not to be too alarmed. We decided to wait until Monday for the better US and a transvaginal since the PA didn’t want to interrupt anything or worsen the bleeding.
Ladies, has anyone had an experience like this with spotting/ bleeding that stops and comes back?
Is there anything specific I should ask my OB on Mondays appointment?
Is SCH really a 50/50 survival rate?
Sorry for long message! Obviously I’m nervous! But I truly appreciate any feedback on your experiences, etc.
@taty33 SCH are present in 40% of pregnancies and typically heal just fine with zero issues. That’s the case even when there is some bleeding. **TW I did have a large SCH that did cause a loss but it was HUGE and was positioned right in the center of the placenta. So just a really bad place and it took up most of the placenta because it was so large. End TW** When you get your transvaginal US get the measurements and specifically ask what they are categorizing or as (small, moderate, large).
As far as what you can do to help it heal faster, rest as much as possible. Don’t lift anything heavy, and pelvic rest. Basically nothing up the vagina and no orgasms.
Also, we have a PGAL thread for those of us who have experienced a loss. I would like to encourage you to check that thread out. It’s a great place to get support from others who are experiencing the same kinds of fear and anxiety about pregnancy after a loss.
@taty33 I too have a subchorionic hemorrhage, because of the spotting I had a ultrasound at 5w, 6w and 8w. Each time the baby is growing and heart beat looks good. They told me it’s not normal to have those but does not increase my risk of a miscarriage. Mine is about the size of a fingernail. They said it will either come out via bleeding or my body will absorb it. Said the baby is away from the bleed and is safe even if another ones appears which they do expect. The main thing they told me is brown blood is fine, red is scary but depends on the amount. If it doesn’t soak the pad within an hour it’s most likely just the hemorrhage and ok. I feel you on being nervous but trying to just accept that I currently have a healthy growing baby. Hope this helps!
Also I have had two friends who have had these their full pregnancy and went on to have healthy babies who are a year old now!
Thank you everyone for the sweet messages and information.
@emeraldcity1214 I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for all your help on what to do and going forward. I am an athletic trainer so the rest is very hard to do and I am lifting up heavy water coolers and ice coolers regularly. I never had any issues with this and previously was told if I do it everyday it’s ok to do pregnant.
@jacquelinem123 thank you for sharing your experience and your positive outcome and your friends!
I’m so nervous. I’ve had slight cramping all week. Nothing serious. Yesterday I had a small amount of spotting. Just one wipe (sorry if it’s TMI) and then all last night I had cramping. I just so happen to have a doc apt today at 1:30. I’m at the 10 week mark 😢 this wait is going to kill me.
Hey guys. Unfortunately I lost the baby. Couldn’t find a heart beat by Doppler. Went in for an US and found the baby had stopped growing around 8 weeks. (I should’ve been 10wk2d) My body wasn’t able to pass it on my own. So I’m currently waiting for my D&C.
I wish you all of the luck ladies. And I hope I can be back! 💜
@Melissa112009 I’m so sorry for this loss, sending you love!
*trigger warning: talk of blood & tissue* I wanted to come on here & ask if anyone has passed a clot without it being terrible news? I work long hours & was finally tucking myself into bed when I thought I had peed a little (I’ve been peeing so much, it was a very real possibility) I checked & it was actually a little bit of blood. I sat on the toilet & blood, including a stringy clot or maybe tissue dropped into the toilet. The amount of blood was just about a wipe & a half & I have no cramping but this seems really not good. I am exactly 9w & have only had one day of spotting at 7w aside from this. I called my midwife hotline & am waiting for a call back. Definitely feeling numb over this but hoping anyone has had a similar experience that didn’t end in heartbreak 💜
**update: going in for an emergency ultrasound this morning. Please send your healthy heartbeat vibes our way 💜💜
9w3d, I had mild cramping all day yesterday and wiped some pink discharge last night when going to the washroom. Cramping went away overnight and woke up this morning feeling “less pregnant”. Nausea went away and boobs aren’t as sore / heavy. Way less bloated as well. Wiped some more pink discharge again this morning (just 1 wipe). Waiting for midwife to call back now. Feeling anxious and worried
Had an ultrasound & discovered no heartbeat. This baby was not for me. Feeling devastated but sending love out to all of you & big hopes that your biggest fear isn’t realized 💜
@chilok hopefully everything checks out fine. Some days I don’t feel bloated at all. It took me forever to even start feeling slightly bloated with this pregnancy. My symptoms come and go frequently so hopefully that’s all that’s going on with you.
@chilok I start the day looking normal and by the time I go to bed I look like I'll deliver next week. Symptoms can come and go all the time. Hoping it checks out to be no big deal!
