Re: *TW* Spotting/Bleeding/Threatening MC Thread

  • I want to start by saying I am so sorry for anyone who has experienced a loss on this thread.

I have had three miscarriages myself and am always on edge with this pregnancy. We did IVF with a frozen embryo for this one and the odds all seemed wonderful as it is a normal euploid baby and chromosome abnormalities were the cause of our previous losses.

I had an ultrasound on Wednesday that went great, good heartbeat (161 bpm) and baby measured normal. Over the past few days I’ve noticed a brownish/yellow like discharge that is kind of stringy. Then last night I had severe cramping and backache. I called my doctor who recommended Tylenol and to
monitor if spotting got worse, if so to go to the ER. Cramps subsided and spotting didn’t increase, actually lessened. Today I feel okay, almost like I’m sore from the cramping last night. Did anyone have this at 12 weeks and go on to a healthy pregnancy? From my perspective it doesn’t look good but it’s also weird that the cramping and spotting have stopped. Any advice/stories/support would be appreciated.

  • Brown is old blood so I would be less concerned about that. I have had random cramping that makes me wonder what I’m feeling and it always goes away. Some have been one sided and pretty intense. Everything is fine with me. The only time I had a bad outcome was when I was bleeding bright red blood that I needed a pad for. I hope the spotting and cramping subside and you can relax.

@lbolt2020 sorry for your previous losses. I’m currently 13 weeks and from week 11 to now I was cramping constantly but intermittently and had brown discharge once. Turns out I have a bladder infection that was causing the cramping. I started antibiotics Thursday and already feel less cramping. So in your case it could be that..?  or growing pains. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, but no harm in asking your OB for another ultrasound and some urine tests :)

@lbolt2020 how are you doing now? Have you had a chance to get checked out?
  • I’m having cramping again and brown discharge so far once. Hoping it’s just from the bladder infection.
