*TW* Spotting/Bleeding/Threatening MC Thread

This thread is for support and questions around spotting/bleeding. 🖤

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support. 🖤

  • Just had a repeat ultrasound after last week showed a large yolk sac with a great heartbeat. Today we saw almost no growth in the last week and no longer able to find a heartbeat. We are having to decide whether to go forward with a procedure to end the pregnancy or wait for my body to do it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this sad, defeated and helpless.
  • @shakespeareaddict I'm so sorry.

  • @shakespeareaddict I'm so sorry to hear. I know some women do the procedure to get it done and over with but I chose to let my body take care of it naturally which took a few days. I think I just wasn't ready to say goodbye yet. Whichever you choose will be the right decision for you.
  • @shakespeareaddict oh no. I'm so, so sorry. That's hard. So many hugs for you.
  • @shakespeareaddict I’m so sorry. Sending you hugs and prayers.
  • I am so so sorry to hear this. I’ve had to make that choice myself and it’s a really hard decision even though it has no wrong answer. Whatever you choose is the right choice. I hate that you are having to choose though. That sucks and I’m really sorry.

  • Lots of love to you my friend, no matter which option you choose.
  • I believe I have had a chemical pregnancy (loss).

We started trying and the very first attempt we thought worked. I was using at home cheapy test strips. Got a faint positive last Friday 12/16. Took multiple tests and all gave a positive result. Told my husband the exciting news the next day.

A few days ago took another to just see the darker line. It was at the end of the day after lots of water so urine was very dilute but still had a stronger positive. I had been experiencing many pregnancy symptoms.

I woke up yesterday and felt normal. I became worried so I took another test and it was extremely faint. Another this morning and is basically gone his morning and still feeling "normal".

We are sad but aware this could happen. We plan to have a doctor appointment for me to confirm and check on my health. Has anyone else here gone through this before?
  • @zookid im so sorry. This happened to me in October. It’s so tough. I would definitely go to your doctor and see about a blood test to get your HCG levels. For me, I figured it out with tests that got fainter like you, but didn’t start bleeding till a couple days after I got my faintest/negative test. At my follow up doctors appointment, because it was my first loss, there really wasn’t much they offered. They asked me to wait one cycle before trying again, which is probably good emotionally but technically it isn’t proven by data to matter.

It’s going to be a hard time and I’m so sorry you’re going through it.
  • @zookid I’m so sorry. I experienced a CP before my last baby. I knew something was different /weird because my positive test showed up super faint a few days after I typically get a really good line. I have been pregnant 9 times so I know the exact DPO I will get a definitive line. Anyways, the line only darkened a little and then I started getting stronger than normal cramps and the line started fading. My period started a few days after. It was much lighter and only lasted 3 or 4 days. So definitely not a typical period for me. We started trying that same cycle and I got pregnant again and my rainbow baby is 15 months now. I didn’t go to the doctor or get any blood work. I just watched my CM and started trying when my FW was open.

    Sending lots of hugs.
  • @zookid I am so sorry to hear this. I had a chemical pregnancy in September. I got 5 days of positive tests. The line went away quite suddenly and I started bleeding the next day. I didn’t see a doctor afterwards.

  • Hi, have any of you experienced sporting and small clots? At 6 weeks 4 days I passed a dime sized clot and have also experienced spotting but no pain. Now a week later I passed a very tiny clot but the spotting stopped a few days ago. No heavy bleeding only spotting and no cramping. I’m 7 weeks 4 days today. Could this be SCH?
  • That could definitely be a SCH. Especially since there isn’t any cramping. I would call first thing in the morning and see about getting an ultrasound.
  • I’m having brown bleeding and my resting heart rate as tanked. I really do not feel good about this combination. I don’t have it in me to try again. The mental roller coaster of recurrent loss is too much.

  • @ceclarlinetlo Have you called your provider to see if you can get in for an ultrasound?
  • @ceclarlinetlo i had bleeding 2 days after my positive test, about 3-4 weeks in. Called the doctor and they had me to 3 blood draws to check HCG levels and then an early ultrasound at 5 weeks and a second at 6 weeks. I was told the bright red is concerning which is what I had but the brown was nothing to worry about. Yesterday at 6w6d I had another red spotting when I wiped and scared me again but seeing I had all those test done and have a heart beat that increased from the first scan I feel much more relaxed. Ask your doctor for an early scan. Mine hasn’t been a lot of blood but still exhausting to go through. It’s been maybe 2 wipes each time but it’s scary. Positive thoughts for you
  • Argh. I’m so frustrated. I just got home from the hospital after being there all morning for an ultrasound (8:20am to 12:30pm). Backstory: I went to the ER on Friday with localized pain in back and abdomen, they wanted to rule out ectopic pregnancy. No bleeding. They told me to come back yesterday for an ultrasound, I show up and there’s no tech. So I had to go back this morning. Anyway. The ultrasound this morning showed 6 week pregnancy, heartbeat and a “moderate SCH”. They told me to come back if I started bleeding so they can check the SCH. I literally just walked in my door and went to the bathroom and I’m bleeding. It’s dark brown right now, so I think I’m going to shower and have a nap. If the spotting turns bright red or increases I’ll go back. I had an SCH with my middle kiddo, but I’m still freaking out.
  • @pickle-chips I would rest as much as possible. The fact that it’s moderate in size is scary. Did they say where it is located?
  • @emeraldcity603 she did not and I didn’t even think to ask I was so exhausted. My family doctor will get the scan and notes so I might call into the office tomorrow.
  • @emeraldcity603 they are closed for observing New Year’s Day. I’m having a red flow now, so I’m really not holding my breath for good news.

  • @colsen4 I’m so sorry. Feeling defeated is such a hard place to be in. I’m sorry you have found yourself there. I’ll be praying for you and your family.
  • Idk I had a call with my midwife and based off my OKPs and LMP I should be measuring at 8w1d not 6w2d. Im not bleeding and I still have symptoms but idk. It sounded like she might think I might miscarry. 10 days seems like forever right now.

  • I was wondering how you were processing the results of your ultrasound. I didn’t want to ask because I didn’t want to cause any anxiety if you weren’t feeling any. Do you track your cycles and all your symptoms? Specifically temps and CM? I typically consider the day with the most CM the day I ovulate. Not that I can know with complete certainty but it just gives me a good gauge for whether or not I will be off if I give them the first day of my missed period.
  • No. I did the OPKs. Not temping or CM. I figured I get up too much at night to temp and I'm bad at judging my CM texture tbh.

But my cycles are pretty short, 24-26 days. So chance of a late ovulation is not super likely for me. It's been tough today processing it. It'll be my first loss so it's new territory for me if it turns out that way.

  • @stashattack I’m so sorry you’re in limbo. I will be praying that when you go back you will see considerable growth.
  • @kaf1227 I’m so sorry for your loss.
  • @stashattack oh no! I hope you’re just off on timing. Have you done any betas?
