    @puppiesandbabies how scary! I'm so glad the second scan was reassuring. 

    @wiseh sorry to hear about the stressful anatomy scan! Fingers crossed that the tech was new and didn't know what he was doing. I hope you'll keep us posted, and until then my fingers are crossed!

    I live in California, and our sonographer was allowed to show us what she was doing (the screen was on and facing us) but she wasn't allowed to "diagnose" anything or tell us if something looked normal or abnormal. She spent some time with us, taking still images and measurements and making notes, and then she left and the doctor came in to discuss the results. Because we're dealing with specialists, they also sent our results over to the fetal cardiologists for review. If they had seen anything concerning they would have called us to schedule a fetal echocardiogram, but I'm guessing that isn't needed as our anatomy scan was on 5/4 and we still haven't heard anything other than "things look just fine so far."

    Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

    @ashley35209 I've since found out that my doctor didn't write any of my history on my hospital referral - spoke to a midwife I know today and she was shocked I hadn't been given a higher priority given my history. Ohwell, I am just trying to stay as stress free as possible.

    The whole system here is a joke @pangolindrome. The GP won't see me because he "doesn't treat pregnancy" and the hospital won't see me until 24ish weeks. I also just found out that if my BMI is above 40 at 36 weeks pregnant they will fly me to the state's capital city for the remainder of my pregnancy because they don't have anaesthetic services here to mange people over 40 BMI!! I had a BMI of 42 at the beginning of the pregnancy and have dropped to 38.5 (because I've lost close to 15lbs) but that means I cannot put on any weight at all for the remainder of the pregnancy. 5lbs more and I'll be back over 40 and be sent away. I am disgusted that we are supposed to be the main birthing hospital in the area we live and they can't provide basic services to me. I am not the only overweight person here - we have a very large aboriginal population who have a very high obesity rate due to lots of factors, so what happens to them? They also get flown to the capital city, away from their land and culture, if they need medical treatment? Heartbreaking for them! UGH. So pissed off at the moment.

    @wiseh that's terrible. I can't believe nobody relayed that info. They are treating me like I'm a ticking time bomb. I've got a few other underlying issues and had a 2nd trimester loss last year but these weekly ultrasounds are solely because of the autoimmune disorder. I don't even get to have an anatomy scan with my ob. I got moved straight to a targeted trasound at 24 weeks with the mfm. It seems shocking to me that they are okay with you being monitored like you aren't high-risk. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.

    Yay!  @ashley35209 seems like we're both responding well to the progesterone!  I have my next check tomorrow!

    Same here.  I will freely admit to constantly looking up survival rates at different lengths of gestation though.

    @pangolindrome to be honest, it's not such a bad thing to look at. I know bad things can still happen and it's scary to think about that, but the stats are more reassuring than I would have guessed. I hope no one here has to play those odds and I'm deeply sorry for anyone who has already been on the wrong end of them, but generally speaking, this is one case in which I'm impressed by modern medicine.

    @kboydbowman What does the cervical length mean? I know I was happy when told mine was 4.9cm but that’s only because I’d learned here what numbers are concerning 😅

    It's literally the length of your service. Anything under 2.5 and you risk having preterm labor as the weight of the baby increases pressure on your cervix.

    Question purely out of curiosity for those who can't/have chosen not to do the glucose tolerance test- have you ever been offered a Freestyle Libre for monitoring? I only ask because we use it in animals all the time to monitor constant glucose levels- they're pretty cheap, once you apply them they're good for 21 days. Seems like it would be a better option than sticking your finger 4 times a day! Might be worth asking your doctor about. We can get them from the pharmacy and apply them ourselves (not sure if it works the same for people).

    I met with my midwife today to go over what she thinks are my best options for wny when we move. The midwives she suggested deliver at the hospital that everyone in the mommy fb group for the area hates. I'm really thinking that I should take the hive mind ideas over her. I'm just worried that I know that those midwives will do vba2c (she texted her friend during our appointment) and I don't know if I'll get to have a midwife or a resident at the other hospital. She also threw a curve ball and told me the hospital that's only an hour from where we live did vba2c while she was at a birth center near by and they might still so that, so now I'm researching that hospital too.

    I scheduled my glucose test for when I'm here as we move at 28 weeks and I don't know when I'll have an appointment and would prefer to do that at my local small hospital and not deal with the craziness that is a city hospital lab. Also I am taking a full day off for it because well I have the time to spare. They also have me the glucola to take home so that's fun too don't have to spend as much time sitting around. 

    Also my belly is measuring 24 weeks not 25 which is a relief seeing how with my second I was always measuring 1-1.5 weeks ahead and the fact that my US at 20 weeks had baby measuring big.

    @jhysmath I keep looking at my Glucola in the fridge and my brain keeps telling me to drink it now. My brain clearly forgets that I'm not a fan of orange soda. My toddler has also asked to try a sip. 😄 I'll have to make sure she isn't around when it's actually time to open it.

    @trapperkeeper87 @jhysmath OMG the glucola is sitting there and like... yeah... I had the fruit punch one last time and it was horrendous, so hopefully the lime and lemon one is less awful. Six weeks until I find out!

    @pangolindrome I don't know that I could do fruit punch or the lemon lime one. Fruit punch never sits well for me, and Sprite is the only soda I really can't stand when it's flat. 😄

    Perspective:  Ya'll have to drink nasty stuff once.  I get to stab myself in the finger 4 times a day for 2 weeks!

    @kboydbowman Ive had it 4 times with my first pregnancy and got to stab myself 4 times a day for 12ish weeks.

    I had it 3 times with my second pregnancy.

    This will be the second time with this pregnancy, and I'm sure they'll test me again if I pass this test just because my rapid growth in the 3rd trimester last time.

    @trapperkeeper87 I chose fruit punch because I like it. I used to hate it but it was the Gatorade they had when I ran my half marathon around Timothy Lake out here, and cold fruit punch Gatorade was literally the best thing I'd had ever because I was so tired and the water stations were so far apart. However, the Glucola version stuck in my throat for over an hour after I drank it. Ew.
    @maple1422 Yep. Not sure why, but I had it at like... idk, week 12 or 16 or something.
    @kboydbowman I will definitely take the gross drink over stabbing myself in the finger.
    Random sort-of-related memory: This reminds me of my farmor, my dad's mom. She had type 2 diabetes. She let me help her with the insulin shots and I felt like a medical professional.

    @jhysmath Oof. Did you have GD with both of your previous pregnancies? I don't mind the Glucola drink (it's not good, but it's a temporary yuck that makes you sugar crash afterward), but I can't imagine having to deal with GD on top of other pregnancy symptoms.

    @pangolindrome I would imagine that the fruit punch is actually not bad, it just has always made me so sick to my stomach. Kind of like shrimp. I don't mind shrimp, but after just a few, my stomach is begging me to stop, otherwise I'll be seeing my shrimpy friends again. 😄

    @pangolindrome the “sprite” flavor was the one recommended to me - assume that’s the lemon-lime. So, hopefully it won’t be too terrible for you.

    I've been pricking my finger 4x a day since 12 weeks. Also had GD with both previous pregnancies.  Do I win? It kind of feels like I lose. On the bright side, I didn't get tortures with glucola this time.

    And for those of you worried about gd, the pricking of the finger wasn't that big of a deal to me. My hardest part was having to change my mindset on what pregnancy diet looked like. I wanted to be able to yell I need ice cream at 10pm when they craving hit like you see in all the movies. I didn't want to have to measure everything I ate and read nutritional panels like I was on a diet. I didn't want to have to set alarms for when I needed to test and eat next ( you have to eat so often it's crazy) .

    @jhysmath Several of the moms in my O19 group had the same problem with GD: no issue with the pricking, but not being able to eat how and when they wanted. I honestly don't know how I would handle that. You're already limited so much while pregnant, and having one more limitation would be so difficult.
