@Fluffy1187 I know Emerson can be a boys name, but I’ve only met girls with that name. And Emmie is definitely feminine as a nn. Go for it if y’all love it!!
@Fluffy1187 I think Emerson is a beautiful name! And it's similar to names like Allison, Madison, Addison, which are very feminine names. Love Emmie as a nickname too, so sweet!
@Fluffy1187 I personally love masculine names for girls.
We have a daughter named Rebel-Ann and I think we have decided for this little girl, Ollie O’Neal. Ollie was actually on my “boy list” but my husband liked it for a girl and O’Neal was my father in law’s middle name.
Where are my teacher people looking through names thinking how is it so easy for people to like names especially when most of the names you're currently reading remind you of "that student".
I have an Emersyn in class, she is a girl. I don't think I've ever seen a boy named that.
@jhysmath we don’t want a name where there will be 5 other kids with the name in the class. I totally did a district search for each name to see how many kids it pulled up 😂 3 or less (current and graduated) for each of our choices.
@kboydbowman my neighbors adopted their son when he was probably 6 or 7 and they gave him the option of picking a new middle name since they would be changing his last name anyways. They told him to think about it and chose something meaningful to him. He chose Coyote because he is part Native American. I myself wouldn't choose the name but I love the name for him! Especially since he chose it himself.
@Fluffy1187 I've only heard of girls with the name Emerson and I think its adorable! It's so interesting how names can change from "masculine" to "feminine" over time. For example, the first Ashley my mom ever knew was a boy so when she started hearing girls named Ashley she was a bit confused because it was totally a boy name.
@jhysmath The teacher struggle is sooooo real. You don’t want them to be one of 5 kids with the same name. But you don’t want it to be such a weird or difficult name that it’s always misspelled or mispronounced (my niece is Daenerys and learning to spell her name has been a JOURNEY)… then again I also go crazy when people take a normal name (Austin) and try to make it unique (Awstynn) and it just seems like a little much sometimes. But then there’s “those kids” who have ruined names. Both Me and hubby have been teaching for 6 years so there’s a lot of “those names” that get an instant veto!
@melyrae my husband and I have been teaching for 11 and 12 years and the sad thing is, even though we've had almost all the same kids, we veto different names 😂. My second though, had a middle name of a student. My husband didn't have her, and came up with the name. I decided that he liked it, and she was a favorite student so it was ok.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
I’ve looked through all the names of our grandparents and great grandparents and I Am In Love with a combination for a girl, but… it’s based on my side only and I feel kinda bad. However, Jane Elizabeth really gets my heart all 💕💕💕 AND it works really well in both English and Swedish. I told my husband he can veto it if he wants to. We’re both living with this human in our lives for a very long time.
The male names are more difficult. Middle name has to be Olof because that was my farfar’s (pat. grandpa) and is my dad’s and brother’s equivalent-to-middle-name.
TBH I feel like it’s a girl and that would really resolve everything quite neatly.
Before we knew gender we were having better luck finding baby names for boys (Otis and Finnegan were our top) - Girls were trickier to agree on. Then of course we find out it’s a girl so back to square one 😅 We really want something unique but not ridiculous, strong but still feminine… etc etc. Then a few weeks ago my husband and I stumbled across Pepper in a baby name book and we both oddly liked it enough to not veto it. Now we can’t get it out of our minds… I’m kind of obsessed with it. But I can’t tell if I’m crazy to name my daughter Pepper. Waiting for something I like more to come along but that hasn’t happened yet
I was having the hardest time coming up with a name I liked for a boy! My poor husband has been so patient when the most I could muster to any name suggestion he threw at me is “I don’t hate it”. I had plenty of names I liked in theory but once it came time to actually NAME OUR CHILD FOREVER, suddenly nothing seemed good enough.
Starting at my baby during the anatomy scan on Monday, I had an epiphany- this baby is beautiful and amazing, and really at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what he is called, as long as he’s healthy and happy 🥰
So, I told my husband he can pick any name he liked and he instantly said Jackson. His middle name will be Robert, for my grandfather who I was very close to. I’m really glad I was able to let go and let him have a say, and I think Jackson Robert a great choice, especially with our last name ❤️
LOVE the name Jackson for a boy! It's definitely a name I would have considered for our boy, but my cousin already snagged it years ago for her son!
Can definitely relate to liking a name in theory but wondering if it will feel right for day to day once the baby actually arrives! My sister ended up not picking a name for her son until a few days after he was born. I think what they picked wasn't her first choice, but now his name (Avery) just fits him so perfectly! Funny how they end up growing to fit the name they've been given
I love the name Jackson too, my husband does not. He has one cousin who named their son Jackson but he goes by Jake and another that named their son Jaxxson (yes with two xs) and they call him Jaxx. I would love a baby boy named Jack.
To echo what @bigworldlittleg said, we didn't know the perfect name until we saw our daughter, and even then, she was earthside about 36 hours before we finally decided. Granted, we didn't know if she was going to be male or female, but the female name we thought we loved just didn't fit her. Now when I look at her, I can't imagine any other name!
The bonus is that about a month after she was born and named, we discovered her first name means basically the same thing as my mom's first name (my mom passed away in 2007, so I fully felt that was my mom's way of saying, "I'm always here"). Combined with the middle name that we intentionally chose to honor my late mom (same middle names), it couldn't have been more perfect. 🥰
@kboydbowman I like
@jhysmath's suggestion Cabot and @bigworldlittleg's suggestion Cedric. They
both sound good with Jasper too. Bummer they've been rejected. What about
@mmoli79's Cohen?
@laj0217 Remy is a
great nickname! Also, I wanted to use the middle name Lee for a boy! It doesn't
work with the boy name we agreed on for this baby, but if the next one is a boy
we're going with Edison Lee!
@lucyg00cy We had a
boy name and a girl name already picked out and then three weeks after we
settled them DH started suggesting more names out of the blue. I thought he was
vetoing the first set, but he forgot we had already found good ones!
@foreveronyourside
Gracelyn is so cute! I love that it's not overdone and not youneek. Sounds
lovely.
@wiseh I went to
school with an Onja (awn-ya) and I still think her name is one of the prettiest
I've ever heard!
@whitta1015 Grady
gets my vote! It's on my list of names I love but can't use. Owen is another
one along that vibe that I love but can't use. Owen would be short like Liza.
@Fluffy1187 Emerson
is a way cute name for a girl - love it!
@blanket_girl I love
your epiphany and also that it worked out perfectly! Jackson Robert is solid!
I really was hoping
to know by now whether we'll have a Reagan Pearl or a Zig Ronald to go with our
Elijah (Eli) Neal.
We are still waiting
for our NIPS results from the blood draw on 4/2. Honestly, I just want to know who I'm talking
to in there…
Pearl is one of my
sister's middle names and she'll be the godmother. Reagan rhymes with my other
sister's name.
I mentioned above
our next boy name would be Edison Lee. This is my paternal grandfather's name
and I've wanted to use it FOREVER, but Zig is DH's grandfather and Ronald is my
dad so I agreed to swing for this one first if it's a boy.
@pangolindrome Caleb and Casey were already rejected. I don't like Clark. Cohen is a very Jewish name and and neither of us have any Jewish heritage so it's not a great fit for us.

@babywiik my husband’s name is Cameron and my MIL always says she wasn’t a huge fan of it when he was born because it was a girl’s name. I’ve always thought that was so strange because I’ve only known boys with it but perhaps in the 70s it was different.
We are naming our little boy Nevillen Douglas. I’m not a huge fan of the middle name, but it covers both sides of our families. My husband and his dad’s middle name is Douglas and my little brother who passed away in a car accident a few years ago had the middle name Douglas as well.
It’s so amazing being able to call him by his name. It makes us feel closer to him being able to use his name verses “little man”, baby, etc
btw, I love all the names you ladies picked out! I would tag each and everyone of you, but my this app is being annoying
Some more C names I've heard recently Carmichael Conlon Colon (yup like the body part, one of my students just told me this is his soon to be step father's name) Carmen
Ya'll, I can't even....now he's advocating for Claudatious.
He is about two seconds away from losing any naming perogative.

I am so excited - I floated Ivy as a name early on, and the husband thought it was nice but he wasn't 100% sure. Then we paused in naming discussions when it made things feel too real. Today I asked him if it was time to revisit names, and he said he's been thinking of her as Ivy for the last few weeks! So it's official, and that's her name.
First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
I think we might have decided on names last night through text. Ezra Russell has been the boy name he wants. He said if it's a girl he want Maisie, but I don't like that it's a nickname already so I think we'll go with Margaret (Maisie) and then middle name he wanted Marie which is my middle name and I was so for it, until he told me that's the middle name his mother picked for herself because she didn't have a middle name, and I'm like nope I'm done liking that now. So I think it will end up being Jade. So if it's a girl it has the flip of my initials seeing how the first two have his initials.
@kboydbowman you should join the group on Facebook called "that name is a tragedeigh" to find some ideas he would like. There's a Cobra Kai and Kato on there today that you could put Cs for lol

I could never do Aidan bc I have like 4 different ones in the same class: Ayden/Aiyden/Aedan/Aiden 🥲 all spelled different
