My husband and I are pretty hooked on Pepper for a first name for our little girl (also he’s British and pronounces it “Pep-ah” which kills me ♥️). Hubby has a Cr starting last name so we are thinking a softer feminine middle name (plus she can use that if she hates Pepper). Right now our top contenders are:
Pepper Lila Cr— Pepper Eloise Cr—
But we would love some more middle name ideas! We considered a family middle name but our female family names are pretty old fashioned and/or tragic… Gladys, Marion, Barbara, Joeanne, Carylon… etc
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
One of my favorite book series has a character who names all of her children after poisonous substances. Arsenic is Nic for short and Belladonna is Bella for short. I have always assumed that another of the girls is Cyanide, Cyan for short, but the books don't reveal all of the daughters' names. While I wouldn't actually do it in real life, I do love the theme!
First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
@kboydbowman I was thinking of you the other day. Listening to a song by Sabaton called Carolus Rex. It’s a pretty epic historical song and i said “ooooh that’s a ‘c’ name” 😂

@foreveronyourside haha yes. Apparently my FIL and the grandparents all really liked it so she went with it but apparently thought it was very feminine for a boy.
Hey guys, We honestly have the toughest time picking names for our kids!
We were undecided with our first until about 30 weeks and even then we had a “back up” incase the name didn’t suit him 😉
We’ve been tossing around name options and these are the few that have stuck out.
•Bowen •Boone •Dallin
We both like Bowen and Boone, my husband isn’t crazy about Dallin but it wasn’t a no. Big brother’s name is Briggs 💙
We aren’t set on “matchy” B names, these just happened to be the ones that we agreed on. We lean towards outdoorsy, masculine names but nothing too popular.
@kkibler19 love Bowen. Do you think you’ll have more kids after this? If both boys have B-names, will you feel pressured to find a third B-name in that situation? That’s my only thought on having matchy B names (and I don’t really think they match, they’re different enough!)
I am due in less than 4 weeks and can't decide on a name for baby girl. Sister is Willa. We have narrowed it down to Hallie, Margot or Nora. Please vote! :)
@kkibler19 I have matching letters for my daughters. I felt we didn't need matching for the third, but if a girl my husband wants a matching name. If it's a boy I guess we're back to the drawing books.
So with thinking this one will likely be a boy, I told my husband I'm not a big fan of Ezra because there's no shortened nickname from it. He said look up if Ezra is nickname for something. I found an article saying it was derived from a Hebrew word and I guess he didn't realize it was Hebrew. He said oh we're not Hebrew, I guess we need to think of something else now.
Anyone have any boys names that have nice shortened nicknames. Most common traditional boys names have already been taken because his family is all boys. I'm not a big fan of current popular boys names either.
@jhysmath any other criteria for length/ethnicity/etc.?

@jhysmath My sister has been lobbying for Sebastian/Seb. I personally like the name but my husband vetoed it. There's Oliver/Ollie, Benjamin/Ben, Grayson/Gray, Remington/Remi, Callum/Cal?
I'm having a tough time with boy names also. We don't have any real criteria...just so long as we both like it.
@jhysmath I like Ezra even with the Hebrew background (but we picked Ephraim which is similar 🤷🏻♀️) and I think you could do E or Ez as a nickname if you wanted.
But some options might be Malcolm/Mac, Maxwell/Max (if you want to stick with M’s), Alexander/Alex, Brandon/Bran.
I’m looking for a one syllable boy middle name to go with a B first name… I LOVE James as a middle name but when my husband realized the initials would be “BJ “ he burst out laughing sooo that’s out.

@kkibler19 I think I like Bowen the best but they're all good. How old is Briggs? My sister chose the name for her second be abuse her first was 18 months and they way she said the name was just so cute! @knottie 3 names is a good sized list to have if you can't decide before baby is born. I personally like Nora but I may be partial because I have a niece with the name🥰
@laj0217 that was my concern with using another B name. Hubby would be content with just 2 kiddos but I’ve always wanted 4, so hopefully we can meet in the middle at 3 🥰
@jhysmath I agree, if we had a third boy my husband would probably also want a B name but if it was a girl I don’t think it would have to match.
Have you thought about Bennett (Ben) for your little? Not super popular but completely adorable! We have a Ben in our family otherwise it would have made our list.
@babywiik We really like Bowen as well! Briggs will be 2 a few months before his brother is born, so I’m sure there will be tons of cute pronunciations 😊
We both like Finnian (Finn) but y husband broke the rule of don't tell anyone and told BIL and BIL said well you're going from a really cool jedi (Ezra) to a dumb one from the new movies (Finn) and I think that means it has to be out now.
My number one rule is you don't tell people the name so they can't talk you out of something you like. Urgh.
@kkibler19 I've only known (of) one Boone, and he was... caught smoking pot hours before graduation and made a girl drop out of school while also being a not-so-stellar human. My vote would go to Bowen there, haha, but I do not matter in the grand scheme of things ;D
@pangolindrome the problem with both your line of work and mine is that we now know shitty human beings that go with nearly every name

@jhysmath I shouldn’t laugh, but that is 100% something that would happen at my house. My husband is a bit of a nerd (in a cute way). I know he likes the nickname Remy for some silly comic book related reason. I told him if he wants me to keep liking it, he should keep his reason to himself 😆 he has so far!

No worries ladies! I am aware it’s comic book related, but @kboydbowman I am gonna skip your article 😂 and in fairness to my husband, he agreed to a professional/adult name with Remy as the nickname.

See if it started with a "c," boy person would be all over remington - he likes what he calls "English butler names"

lol I know, but that's not "butler-y" enough for him. Carrington and Cavendish are two we are considering...

This is a board for September births so you should find the one for your due date to get feedback from others who are in the critical naming time too. Good luck! My thought is I would mix up Hallie and Willa all the time as they are too close and call them Halla and Willie!
