@ponyoisfun breastfeeding while pregnant. Not this time, but I breastfed up until a few weeks before third tri with my second and pumped partway through second tri with my third. Never had any issues. By the time I quit, they were tapered down to about per day. It wasn’t a big deal to quit.
@jacuieb-2 sex. Unless your provider has specifically put you on pelvic rest, no, it absolutely will not harm your baby.
@knottienumbersultrasound There really isn’t a need for an 8-week ultrasound unless there’s a reason to believe something is wrong or you have irregular cycles and are uncertain about your due date. They’ve become more commonplace in this day and age, but they’re really not necessary for most people, so who knows whether you’ll actually have one or not. You’ll have to call and ask.
Anyone else super paranoid about neural tube defects from maternal heat exposure? I’ve read too many studies on the correlation.
I’m taking my prenatals with folic acid obviously, but last week I was sick and had fevers (took acetaminophen which I feel like doesn’t do anything for me) and then the last two nights I was cold at bedtime and piled a ton of blankets on. Woke up both nights sweating and took the extra blankets off. Currently 6 weeks.
Hi all! I’m 6 weeks 6 days and just had my first ultrasound today. There was no fetal heartbeat (and I measured at 6 weeks, 4 days. Went back to my app and noticed I probably ovulated CD 16 so that tracks)
Anyone not have a fetal heart beat at 6 weeks then had one later? We are going back next Thursday. I’m nervous!
Yep! Just happened here! Went in at 6 weeks 1 day and there was no heartbeat. I had to go back in at 6 weeks 7 days and the heartbeat was there and ticking strong at 128 bpm. Relax, you're fine and these babies do their own thing!!
Hi. I’m 6 weeks and I got some really painful cramps today. No bleeding or anything associated just felt like bad period cramps. Anyone else have this? Only way to feel better is a heating pad.
@emmaliz12 cramping and general pain is unfortunately a pretty common part of pregnancy. Right now it's likely to just be your uterus growing or gas pains (can really easily be confused for cramps. Ask me how I know). Round ligament pain is also a possibility, but more likely further on in pregnancy.

@emmaliz12 totally normal, but also totally uncomfortable. It can also be disconcerting, but as long as not accompanied by bleeding is usually not something to worry about.
Hi all! First time being pregnant here… I am obsessing over it, I have so much fear and anxiety that something will go wrong. I am only 5 weeks. I have been experiencing a lot of bloating, and stomach discomfort as well as some loose stools. I also have random mild to moderate “period” cramps with NO bleeding or spotting. Is all of that normal? I don’t have my first ultrasound until April 4 and I am constantly worried.
Hello! I’m 40 with a surprise pregnancy. My fist office visit was March 8th. We thought I was about 8 weeks. They did an ultrasound and found nothing. But called me that afternoon and said my blood work shows I am definitely pregnant that my dates were most likely wrong. They put me on progesterone suppositories. At my second visit on March 18th there was a baby. Measuring about 5w5d with a heart rate of 95-97. Told me absolutely no sex because of a sch that was very small but because of my age 100% pelvic rest. My next appointment is March 30 for another ultrasound. But I have notice mauve/brown/pinkish discharge. I have no cramps, very little tenderness to my breast. But 100% anxiety when I go to the bathroom. Has anyone experienced this being on progesterone suppositories?
@brandi-h I'm on progesterone and noticing some pink and sometimes brown spotting this go around too. This is only my second pregnancy using progesterone and I don't remember it happening last time but my hubby says he does so lol

@mflowers929 thus is my first time using it. My first pregnancy was in 2005 and he is now 16 and I didn’t need any meds carrying him until the very end and I don’t remember it being progesterone that they gave me. And my last pregnancy didn’t take in 2020 so we are trying this. It’s just very unnerving to see it.
@brandi-h I should also note that I'm on aspirin and heparin injections as well (I have trouble carrying my babies) and was told that could cause it. But I definitely think the progesterone makes the cervix a bit more sensitive than usual.

@brandi-h, I’m on progesterone suppositories as well. I’ve occasionally had some spotting too. However, you mentioned a SCH—the spotting is very likely due to that draining, which is why they would put you on pelvic rest. I had a pretty big SCH with my daughter that scared the daylights out of me with spotting. Stay in touch with your doctor and hopefully they can provide reassurances along the way!
Another question! Has anyone bled after sex? I’m about 7 weeks and was very concerned the morning after having sex because I had some blood. Not a lot, but enough to feel concerned bc that hasn’t happened. No cramping with it. I opted to not goto ER like the on call doctor suggested, because I remembered we had just had gotten intimate the night before and my cervix has always been sensitive. Thoughts?
Anyone deal with a possible uti while pregnant? I’m only 5 weeks. I’ve been hurting when using the restroom, back pain and some uncomfortable feeling while just sitting. Debating on waiting to make an appointment tomorrow or go to ER. I’ve been wiping and having not blood but an almost brownish tint when I wipe.
@emmaliz12 if it’s only a minimal amount and after DTD, I’d definitely assume it’s from sex. If it continues though, go in. The cervix can be very sensitive and irritable in early pregnancy.

I am week 6 and for the past 4-5 days I also have had a slightly brownish tint when I wipe sometimes. But I don’t have any other UTI symptoms. I think that the tint can just “normal” for some women, so yours might not be UTI related. Either way, hope you feel better soon!
@emmaliz12 I have had spotting/bleeding after sex in the past. My dr suggested in the previous pregnancy to change positions to where you are in control of depth and to not be rough at all. But definitely talk to your dr about it.
Has anyone got their hcgs done yet? I am 5 weeks today and got a draw at 4w2d and was 857. At first I was pretty happy but then started thinking (and reading.. ugh) that it could be a sign of problems. My doctor won’t let me come back in until next week. Just curious if anyone has a similar experience?
knottieabde2ed0065f54b4 It’s not so much about the actual number it’s about the rate of increase over time. Your number falls in the normal range, but knowing the rate is more important than knowing the number. But if you’re anxious about it, ask your dr to order another hCG blood draw now so you can know the rate you’re increasing. If your dr doesn’t honor that request so that your mind can be put at ease… well if it were me, I would say it’s time to find another doctor lol. Last year I had an ectopic pregnancy that was identified very early on because my doctor made sure I had multiple hCG blood draws a few days apart during weeks 5-6.
@sudsy623 yeah I asked and his response was that his recommendation is to not do it based on “cost and confusion” and is having me wait a week. I’m going to get the draw this week, hopefully get an ultrasound and then change doctors. I have a miscarriage in October and had an awful experience with this doctor. I was hoping it would be different this time but it’s been tough both times
@knottienumbers, no, I haven’t, and I won’t. It sounds like you’ve had previous issues with this doctor, and that’s not a good sign, but I will say for others reading that a provider not wanting to do them is not necessarily a red flag. I’ve never had my levels checked. I’ve never even had a first appointment before about 8 weeks. Unless you specifically expect a problem or have a history of problems, this isn’t something that’s routine.
@dzapp I personally don't, but dh gets them occasionally. Eating tomatoes or anything high in lycopene. They also react to stress...but that can be really hard to manage.
If your partner has them as well it is important that they stay under control as well because since they are a virus it can spread to you more (esp. no oral sex with a cold sore! This can have neg. effects esp. near the birth). There is a medication that I can't remember the name of that you can take if you feel the onset of a cold sore. It does not stop them, but dramatically decreases the intensity. I am not sure if you can take it while pregnant, but it might be worth checking out.
I have one. It matters in trivial ways. You might not get a good view of baby during those early ultrasounds (5-10 weeks). Also, you may start to show a bit later, as your uterus is growing/pointed towards your back. After 20 weeks or so the inversion is gone since your uterus is full and round by then.
What are you ladies doing for pregnancy acne? I’ve always had acne and it was slightly under control while I was on the pill. It got bad again when we starting trying and I was off the pill and now it feels like I’m 15 again at 8w+4
I just found out I'm pregnant, I'm not sure but I'm around 6 weeks. My feet and lower legs are tingly. Has anyone had this early in pregnancy? Nothing seems swollen, just weird tingling and a little numb.
Is anyone else losing weight? I think a combo of my teeth and the nausea is causing me to lose pretty quickly =/ about 7 lbs in 4ish weeks. I know I can safely lose up to I think 10% (which is like 20+ lbs lol) and I lost weight with my daughter too but still makes me nervous! lol

@mflowers929 losing weight over here too. About 5 lbs at this point. Not throwing up, but having so much trouble eating anything. It's a stupid, vicious cycle....empty stomach = nausea = no appetite = empty stomach (etc). It's the complete opposite from my last 2 pregnancies. I had zero problem gaining plenty of weight, so this is new to me.
I have lost weight. I am down 7ish lbs. my husband keeps telling me to eat more but I am only eating when I feel hungry and what taste good. My first pregnancy I did not loose at all in fact the dr told me to lay off the snacks. This one is very different.
I posted this tuesday but copying and pasting here..
I had my first ultrasound yesterday. Based off the first day of my last menstrul I should be 7weeks4days yesterday but ultrasound measured 5weeks0days and I was told I was too early to see baby or hear heart beat. But no way I am 5 weeks only. Last period started feb 3rd. They say it doesnt matter how long my cycle is. And I tested positive on march 10th cause I missed my entire period so tested on what would of been my last day of my period. Im stressed out. They drew my blood to get my hcg number and I go back tomorrow to draw again. I hope number doubles. Is my number low ? And can my pregnancy still be okay? Sick and worried.
So posted that yesterday and ultrasound was monday*** Monday when I drew blood my hcg was 6,707.6 I dont know if thats low...
Today I went draw blood again and waiting for a call with my hcg number. Fingers crossed it doubled and my second ultrasound is on April 18th. Its a waiting game.
I’m still super nauseous but has anyone found that when you move around more you actually feel less nauseous? I find that when I lay down all day I’m worse off then if I’m out taking the dog for a walk or visiting with a friend. It’s the most bizarre thing!

It’s possible you ovulated late. If your cycles are normally longer than average, that could also affect it (longer cycles means your ovulation is automatically later than it would be in a 28-day cycle).

Same about not eating and hubby telling me to eat. Plus I have the added complication of no teeth lol (I started the process of getting dentures just before I found out I was pregnant). I didn't gain a ton with either of my pregnancies - 21 lbs with my son and 14 lbs with my daughter, plus I lost about 7 lbs at the beginning with her (so 14 the 7 I gained back). Most women around here gain an average of like 60 lbs so I did pretty good lol. I just hate seeing the number on the scale creeping down even though I know it's safe-ish. Hubby told me to pound some ice cream XD

@coldlife2 I really hope my number doubled. Theyll call me tomorrow since they didnt call me today . trying to stay hopeful because i havnt cramped or bled and i still have bad morning sickness. So trying to stay hopeful
@midwestish not often in my legs, but my arms and hands all the time, like it wakes me up, and it's typically the top arm, not the pinned one.
@mommyanddaddyalbarado I gave a more in depth answer about hcg levels on the first page of this thread, but it is totally normal to take up to 4 days to double once you cross the 6,000 mark. In your response to @fantasyflyte on your original thread, you mentioned an app on your phone predicting ovulation, what data does it use to determine it? Were you temping, or does it use previous cycles to predict? I mention this because my LP is shorter than average AND my fp is way longer than average, so I typically have a 35-40 day cycle, with O between day 22-28. My first pg I freaked out because I was measuring nearly 2 weeks behind, but only because they insist on using lmp, even after I gave them my history. Babies 2,3, and now 4, I have honed my answers based on my temp rise confirmed O day, and have had no more freak outs. On the ttgp board the refrain is "you're regular until you're not 🤷".
@sejica That gave me some peace of mind. Yeah i think the longest my cycles have been was like 35..36 days. So maybe late ovulation! I really hope this pregnancy sticks!. And the app went off my previous cycles ive tracked and it makes an average cycle length for me i been tracking on this app for years. ill get my number possible tomorrow. And if it rose at all i guess its a good sign even if its not doubled . ty. No cramps or bleeding as of yet that's whats keeping me hopeful . im so thankful for this group because it is keeping me enlightened and also hopeful
