Those who have had covid, any tips??? My son just got a positive PCR test result. As soon as he begun coughing Friday I've been wearing a mask around him but I can't really distance from a 3 yr old, and I know it is contagious 48hrs before symptoms appear. Any advice is appreciated for both him & myself (assuming I will get it).
I am feeling so terrible right now - I took a course this weekend and he spent a day Saturday with my parents so now they've been exposed too.
Quick question, has anyone had any hip pain yet? I’ve trained myself to sleep on my left side but I think it’s making my left inner hip angry. I use a Boppy wedge pillow and a normal pillow between my legs, but holy moly my hip just starting hurting a couple days ago. I bought one of those large pillows on Amazon but it was so uncomfortable I couldn’t use it.
@blf2072 My little one is always on the lower part of my tummy, way down there. Like surfaced over my c-section scar. Had my anatomy scan 3 weeks ago and they said it was totally normal. I’m 5’1 so super short and DD was also super low in my uterus. It was a Totally normal pregnancy and birth.
@inthewoods23 Ah yes, definitely normal to not feel movement sometimes. The quickest way I can get movement is drinking ice water, drinking OJ or laying back or on the side on my bed and watching something or playing music near my belly gets her bouncing. Belly lotion: I also use Palmer’s cocoa butter after showering and when it gets itchy, I’m still on the first bottle but I use probably half a pump on the sides of my pelvis and once over the belly. I could probably use more but my skin gets hive-y if I use too much lotion anywhere.
@knottie I’ve gained a lot of weight (+20 lbs as of today at 24.5 weeks) steadily ever since I was like 8 weeks, but my Dr. Hasn’t expressed any concern yet. I started with a lower weight, I’m petite and feel like each time I get pregnant my body packs on weight for nutrition. Same happened with my first. All of our bodies are different. I just eat when I’m hungry and drink lots of water. In my first trimester I was famished every minute of the day, it was bizarre. At my anatomy scan, everything was normal. She’s measuring a week ahead but is totally normal and I feel great.
@elmann1 i felt sharp pain in my right hip while napping the other day for the first time. im long overdue for a chiropractor visit so i'm calling to schedule this week and get that back on my schedule
@courtneyqdk hope his symptoms are mild and you stay healthy! i would contact the pediatrician for advice, just do your best to rest and do all the usual immune health stuff and just monitor symptoms. I'd contact your OB too if you start showing symptoms. If you happen to be vaccinated and boosted hopefully that does its job to keep you well!
I believe its been 8 weeks but for many clinics and hospitals you can get seen earlier to confirm your pregnancy and then they schedule your first appointment. But Ive also heard that due to covid a lot of pregnancies are being seen earlier to check you more often, a lot of pregnant women have been sick and hypertensive, I cant even get seen by an OB I am getting seen by a Midwife, because they are stuck with high risk pregnancies due to this cases
There no point to get seen at 4 weeks they cant see anything, its best to wait from 8-12 weeks but if there’s anything abnormal go to the ER and get a referral to get seen faster at your preferred OB inthewoods23 said:
@courtneyqdk I had covid in January. My symptoms were primarily body aches and fatigue. My OB just said to rest, stay hydrated, take Tylenol as needed and I used a heating pad on low. My first symptom was a headache that would not go away.
@elmann1 Pick a body part, and it has been painful/achy. Hips are definitely on the list

My whole family has it now, luckily we have had mild symptoms so far. My husband and I are both vaccinated + boosted and it is interesting to see how so far I am worse off than him, I guess pregnancy is hard on the immune system! Overall, though, I can't complain because I have a number of symptoms but all are mild and I am managing with tylenol when needed. The bigger problem is getting so behind at work - we had FIVE snow days in February, tons of student absences due to covid (big wave in our area right now + five day isolation rule if anyone in your household has symptoms) Fun fact: I live in an area with some of the strictest rules/mandates in North America - we had the longest school closures and we have has indoor mask mandates since July 2020. They are just talking now about possibly lifting them in the spring. I don't mind, but it has made teaching & learning very difficult for everyone in schools over the last couple of years. Trying to catch everyone up and the you have all of these absences, and it is a mess!
Anyway, hopefully our symptoms stay mild - any illness while pregnant is such a bummer, it's going to be one long week in my house!
@courtneyqdk When your pregnant, your immune system is actively suppressed so your body doesn’t attack the baby. I hope you feel better soon!

So far, so good. Symptoms still mild. Trying hard to keep the toddler entertained without being able to leave the house - it is quite the challenge! I keep thinking about his preschool teachers right now, and whatever they are getting paid it should be tripled! LOL
I'm 20 weeks now, and my appetite has disappeared. I'm still eating the same things out of obligation/habit, but I'm just not hungry. Anyone else have this happening? Started around 19 weeks.
@velvetblue88 I'm oscillating between starving and not being hungry at all. But I have a lot of issues with that in general, so I wasn't sure if it was pregnancy itself or not.
Hubby and Me Friends since 2008 Started dating: July 1st, 2013 Engaged: July 1st, 2014 Married: July 1st, 2016 R born: July 8th, 2017 N born: June 30th, 2019 Baby #3 Due: July 7th, 2022 (maybe I only ovulate in October XD)
@velvetblue88 same. Actually my whole first pregnancy I was never hungry. This time I’ve had hungry days or moments which actually surprised me. Lately I’m just hungry like mid day and barely eat dinner - just try to make sure I get something with nutrition with me every few hours
@runnergirl2018 - I had the same result from my mid-pregnancy anatomy scan earlier this week. Sonographer and OBGYN did mention this could potentially restrict growth and suggested doing a growth scan/ultrasound every 4 weeks for rest of pregnancy to closely monitor baby’s growth. I was also a bit worried since it’s my second pregnancy, first baby. Pretty sure I googled a lot that night and only made me feel worse. OBGYN didn’t seem too concerned, so I’m just going to listen to my OB for now and try not to over-worry since it’s out of my control.
During my US, also discovered that my placenta is in the anterior position which explains why it’s been a bit harder for me to feel baby’s movements as of week 20. Not sure if anyone is in a similar position, but would love to hear if you’ve felt your baby’s movements so far!
Curious if anyone has been experiencing tight/heavy/bigger belly in the evenings? I’ve been consistently getting this maybe starting week 17/18 (I’m currently in week 20). It gets better when I wake up in the mornings though.
@sacha0088 Definitely. I've gotten braxton hicks contractions since around 19 weeks. My whole belly gets tight and sometimes uncomfortable. I find switching positions, drink water or deep breaths help it go away. I get them all day long, especially if I'm dehydrated or overdoing myself. they don't hurt, just uncomfortable.
I have also been getting this feeling that my lower stomach is super tight heavy and uncomfortable. It happens mostly at night. It’s not the entire stomach but lower uterus area only. Seems to go away or relieved when laying down…. Are these Braxton Hicks ?
@elmann1 - thanks for sharing! good reminder too to stay hydrated and switch positions. When I was having my ultrasound this week (19w5d), sonographer asked if I felt any contractions because she could see that I was having Braxton Hicks contractions even though I didn’t feel anything at the moment.
I’ve been getting slight nausea in the past few days (usually before bed). Today it was earlier in the day ~5/6pm. Also had slight headache around the right eye/temple starting ~3pm, comes and goes, but still there (it’s 9pm now). Anyone experiencing something similar in week 20 pregnancy? I had slight nausea for 1st Tri, but went away in my 2nd until now. Wondering if it’s already returning and if it’s normal…
@sacha0088. That sounds like a migraine (though possibly a mild one). It's pretty common for them to be triggered by hormones, and some women develop them in pregnancy. Did you suffer migraines before pregnancy? If it continues, you can take tylenol, and make sure you are well hydrated as dehydration is a really common trigger. If they end up being frequent (I hope not!) I think magnesium is safe for pregnancy as a deterrent (I'm not a doctor! but I am a migraine sufferer who is married to a neurologist). Hopefully it's just a one-off thing.
@sacha0088, also not an MD, but per my OB, magnesium is very safe for pregnancy. In line with what @bumblebee0210 mentioned, I've been taking it at the direction of my OBf or a number of weeks now to help stave off my pregnancy headaches. It seems to be helping (in case this isn't a one off for you )
@bumblebee0210 Loving that you're married to a neurologist! I'm also a migraine sufferer and my neurologist helped me so much through sumatriptan, magnesium and oddly enough, Tylenol. I kept getting crazy rebound headaches when I'd use Advil too much. Luckily during pregnancy if I just drink 1 cup of coffee, my headaches have been under control. It's always a relief to meet another migraine sufferer, the only one I know is my Mom. *genetics*
Sorry for being MIA and sorry if someone else already asked a similar question, I’ve had a tough time keeping up!
I had my anatomy scan today and everything was normal except overall baby was measuring at least 1 week behind/under the 10th percentile. My NP didn’t seem too concerned but did recommend I get a second opinion ultrasound at a practice that sees high risk patients.
Of course I went down a Google rabbit hole and am so worried about Down’s or another terrible birth defect/genetic disorder, but wouldn’t something be off with baby’s actual anatomy if that were the case? Anyone else deal with this in a prior or current pregnancy?
@sacha0088 - I'll add that i work with a client whose doc had them start magnesium during pregnancy since they had to stop their migraine meds. Worth asking your doc about!
@creativesoul63 did you do any genetic testing? i think that can also happen if you have a marginal cord insertion (which i was just diagnosed with) although my understanding is that it wouldn't cause the growth issue until later. Hope you get some good answers from the specialist!
@runnergirl2018 we didn’t, it was too expensive (insurance doesn’t cover it) and since I’m under 35, have no family history and had a healthy previous pregnancy my doctor said that I’m considered low risk. We didn’t get it with DD and everything was fine. So now of course I am beating myself up for not getting it.
@creativesoul63 Growth measurements are an average, not a rule. I always have big babies, so they measure ahead. Especially if you/your husband and family are small, the baby is likely to be small. Definitely ask your doctor, but since this rule applies to outside babies, I imagine it applies to inside babies too. Past the first trimester for sure, babies grow on their own growth curve, not on a set schedule.
And ultrasound isn't super-duper accurate at measurements like weight and size either.
Basically, if everything else is fine, I wouldn't get too worked up. But it's worth asking your doctor so they can make you feel better too.

Since we're talking about growth measurements, does anyone know at what point a measurement would be considered concerning?
From what I remember from the anatomy scan ultrasound report, most of baby's measurements were in the 60-75% range, but I believe it was his head circumference that was only 33% or something. Is that worth being concerned about or does my kid just have a smaller head compared to the rest of his body?

@inthewoods23 my LO’s measurements were concerning because they were all under 10%. I think anything above 10% is nothing to be concerned about. I also recall with DD that her legs always measured way smaller (but still not under 10%) than the rest of her and she was born with perfectly normal legs.
@tuxielove93 thank you for the reassuring words! I am sure once I get a second opinion tomorrow I will feel much better. Just waiting on pins and needles until then!
@inthewoods23 my OB said they tend to get concerned at under 10% and over 90%, but there’s normal variability on different measurements - and measuring things in the womb is sometimes not all that accurate so they aren’t too concerned about differences. L
@creativesoul63 that makes sense. Fingers crossed all looks good at your follow up!
@inthewoods23 if it was concerning I’m sure they would have said something. Well your doctor would. The techs aren’t really allowed to because it’s not their job to read the results. But like I said above, variation in size is totally Ok and like runner girl said ultrasound isn’t super accurate for measurements.

@creativesoul63@runnergirl2018 I figured my imagination that they'll grow up and have an adult sized body with a child sized head was very wrong 😆. I know it always depends on the angle they happen to be looking at. Could throw things off. Same with those early scans that can look like you're measuring days off.
@tuxielove93 yeah I trust my doctor would say something. I know the numbers were on the screen as the tech was taking them but I was too busy doting on my cute baby to pay a lot of attention to them lol. It just came across as weird since 3 of the 4 measurements were all within +/-10% or so and this one measurement was just way off compared to the others.
Thanks all for easing my silly concerns. It would be nice if they said more than "everything looks good". It's fun to learn and understand those extra details.

@sacha0088 sorry for the delayed response but YES my belly is so much bigger in the evenings, I was started to worry about giving birth to a giant baby... I feel like I look 40 wks preggers in the eve (but I'm only 20)... But then in the morning it's gone right down ... So then of course I worry that something else is wrong... Yes, I am a worrier!
This group gives me so much reassurance, I don't always reply because I'm a FTM so don't have much to offer, but I appreciate all the insights shared so much
I think I told him right away! Lol we have been trying to 10 years and in 2019 I went into preterm labor at 6 months and it was devastating. 5 months later I was pregnant again! The one we lost was w boy, 5 months later another boy! Now I'm due July 21st with yet again another boy!!!!! Hsha
ST+ Moms.... just how uncomfortable is it at 31 weeks? I honestly can't remember. I know about a month later I'll be borderline useless. But my parents are coming to visit the first week in May (due July 7th) and I'm trying to remember just how much I'll really be able to handle doing by then.

This group gives me so much reassurance, I don't always reply because I'm a FTM so don't have much to offer, but I appreciate all the insights shared so much
