@darkrose88 if it makes you feel any better by babies 3 and 4, my MIL stopped saying “it’s about damn time.” Probably because she was being over the top, fake happy. 😝🤦🏻♀️ People suck. I’m sorry YH’s family is lame.
Wow, sorry you guys have to deal with those relationships! People need to give others respect and room to live their lives!
Not having more than one or two kids isn’t going to fix the planet. Teaching them how to take care of the earth and reverse some of the issues other generations have helped cause will!
On a similar note, there’s a lot of reasons people question having kids in this day and age, but there’s no future if we don’t raise some amazing kids who grow up to be passionate about things! Kids will be born in the world, no matter our personal choices. By having children and raising them, we have a chance to influence the future in a richer way.
For anybody else who feels like buying stuff early for baby is a “jinx” how long before you felt comfortable. I’m torn between wanting to buy all the things and embracing baby boy and just looking because jinxing it. 😕
@wigglyicecream do not discount those feelings at all. But also, try to operate in a different mindset if you can. There are always risks to everything; bad things can happen but that doesn’t mean they will. This is your son. No matter what, he is yours. Buying items and preparing, getting attached, giving him a name, none of those things will be the reason something bad could happen.

@wigglyicecream I probably jinxed myself by buying the outfit last night… but, this may sound dumb… it seemed right. Like I saw it, and knew I wanted it boy or girl. I agree with @and_peggy… don’t let this steal your joy. And I’ll tell you what my MFM says: we’ve seen a healthy, wiggly baby so no more negative thoughts allowed. We just believe in faith that we are having a baby in August. Hugs.
@mdfarmchick MH is taking me out to dinner tonight to the restaurant that catered our wedding. 💗 I didn't buy him a gift or card yet because my funds have been low.

@mdfarmchick we did a valentine's date last night. This morning I woke up and remembered we never got any kind of cards or gifts for DS's preschool class, so drove to two different locations and picked up chocolate hearts to put in bags. Better than nothing 🤷♀️I also got a pink valentine's day donut for DS! He was so excited lol.
@darkrose88 I was up until 11 last night putting the valentines in the gift bags for DS1’s class… only because the other mom’s totally showed me up for Halloween 🤣 Then when I was last minute picking up the bags, I ran into Target and got each of my boys a little candy and some LEGOs and a card. 🤣
@mdfarmchick lol! We actually didn't get much from other kids for Halloween, so I really don't feel all that guilty that our Valentine's day gift is lack luster. I feel like once DS hits kindergarten it'll be a bigger deal.
Speaking of Vday, DH just surprised me with some roses, a card, and a coffee. 🥰 totally unexpected since we had our date yesterday.
Ok my SO is a keeper. I came home from running errands and these got delivered. He told me our first Valentine’s Day together that “in a sea of red roses I’m his white rose” the 3 in this bouquet are for me, DD, and little baby boy 🥺
DH and I just had a really lovely Valentimes lunch date. We each got each other a card and he got me a beautiful succulent (that I won't kill) that has really good smelling pink flowers. Then, since he was off work today and I only teach morning classes this semester, and the kids were at school, we got to have lunch together where we talked and didn't look at phones or have kids asking follow up questions every two seconds! So romantic.
Re: cards for the kids. We did those over the weekend. I had an extra pack of Marvel Superhero ones from last year, which #2 (preschool) loves, so I helped him write his name on the cards for his classmates, while #1 who is obsessed with Pokemon and also drawing made individualized Pokemon cards for everyone in his class. Last night I taped candy to the back of all of them. We are *not* a little gift bag full of stuff at school holidays family. One piece of chocolate or a heart lollipop is enough. /endrant
Every once in awhile school posts some random pictures on Facebook of kids learning playing or whatever and I never see mine, but today, there was my #1, right in the middle!! 😍😍

I don’t know what we’re doing for valentines tonight. Some sort of dinner from somewhere we decide on last minute and I’ve also been promised a massage.

We did Valentine’s dinner last night, because if we waited till tonight after my husband’s commute home, it would be a long wait at our favorite places. Tonight we’ll exchange gifts (we always like to buy each other a few little things-nothing to pricey so we can always do it with limited/no stress.) And our most exciting Valentine plan is learning the baby’s gender!🥰
@and_peggy oh I must have read her post wrong. I thought she was sharing here after her and DH learned the news together. Guess I’ll go DD my post in the sex thread
