Re: Weekly Randoms w/o 1/17
9:30 - stop at the lab and chug my glucose drink. I really donβt think its that bad but I love orange soda so maybe thatβs why? Haha
9:40 - run upstairs for my check up with dr. Nothing notable. Discuss he wants an ultrasound in 2 weeks. Hindsight I donβt think he realized I had an ultrasound after the appt with him, scheduling was a bit wonky this time. Β Nothing else discussed (both of these details are this is important later). Also get my TDAP shot.
10:00 - work with nurse to schedule follow up appt and follow up ultrasound for 2 weeks out. Ultrasound team says thatβs really weird usually they will only do ultrasounds every 3 weeks at most. Nurse double checks with dr and he says yes he wants an ultrasound in 2 weeks. Ok cool we get it scheduled.
10:20 - run downstairs to the lab to get my blood drawn
10:30 - run back upstairs for my ultrasound at 11
11:30 - everything looks good on the ultrasound. Still small, but continuing on his own curve so no concerns. Dr pokes his head in says he is very happy and optimistic at everything weβre seeing. As heβs walking out he says βoh and donβt forget NSTs 2x per week starting next weekβ so I say wait what, we never talked about that earlier. He says βoh okay let me write this down for you.β I say βok sounds good, we had only talked about a 2 week follow up ultrasound earlier.β To which he says βoh thatβs not necessary. Thatβs like weighing yourself every 5 minutes. It doesnβt tell us anything new.β So I just laugh and say ok. The ultrasound tech and I just laugh after he leaves.
11:45 - talk with the same nurse as earlier to reschedule my follow up ultrasound for 4 weeks out (Iβm not entirely sure this is what he wanted but whatever I was tired of trying to clarify with him). Schedule 2x weekly NSTs from now until March when I will have my scheduled C-section.Β
Good lord! What a morning! Then I came home and cleaned house to get ready for family coming into town this weekend. Iβm popping some Unisom tonight and passing the heck out!

@minnie_yoga_mama sorry but I disagree, they're cold and uncomfortable who wants to eat all wet? Then when you don't change them leaks and blow out always seem to be more likely and those are huge pains in the butt. Also even a hint of diaper rash and pee is like acid on their irritated skin. Changing diapers more is just not that inconvenient. Because I'm C-section first few weeks We have a nighttime routine where my husband has baby in bassinet on his side. When baby wakes he starts with diaper change while I literally pull my self up in bed and get ready to nurse. He hands her to me, I nurse and then take her back and tuck her in bed on his side and he's long asleep. Now if she is dry we won't change obviously.
matter how absorbent a diaper claims to be. I think you were interested in cloth diaperingβ¦? I learned the hard way that they have an absorbency up to a certain point and then will completely stop absorbing all together. It only took a few of messy, liquid puddles in the middle of the night all over me and the bed to learn not to skip diaper changes lol no matter how tired I am! Breastfed-baby-poop stains everywhere.Β
@rbflei Thatβs what we did, too! DD slept on DHβs side and he would have MOTN diaper duty so I could prep for breastfeeding. And then he and his useless nipples could go back to sleep lol
But here's the thing - baby poop is mostly liquid, but it is what we used to so wonderfully refer to as "mucousy." It really is just kind of like... poop snot? (If it's too mucousy it can be a sign of something to talk to the doctor about, but regular normal baby poop still has some slip to it). So it absorbs, but if the diaper is pretty saturated in pee it's more likely to ooze out the sides before it can absorb. So if you're getting baby up and feeding him/her, it's really not that big a deal to just swap out a pee diaper to reduce the risk of this issue.Β
Also some babies (I think in my other BMB it's mostly boys, just because of anatomy) tend to pee really hard in one particular spot of their diaper, and so that spot is going to become less absorbent a lot faster and might overflow more. You can add things to diapers, though, like sposie pads? I think that's what they're called.Β Β
Anyway, at first you'll likely be changing the diaper before feeding at night to ensure baby is awake enough to take as much of a full feed as they possibly can to hopefully grant you a longer stretch, so you'll definitely get the hang of it and what your particular baby jives with in real time.
