Looks like there might be more listeria recalls. I'm assuming it's a different outbreak, but I figured I'd share incase anyone has this stuff around. It's definitely making me think my packaged salad for lunch plans

I saw my OB today and posed the question to her about my face wash having salicylic acid halfway down the ingredient list and if I should stop using it. She was fine with me using as yes some of the salicylic acid will get absorbed but it's likely not much since a face wash gets washed off the face after a short period of time.

Hi all, first time posting on here but thank you 🙌 for already answering so many of my questions already! First pregnancy, 9w5d. Had an ultrasound at 8w5d and could see the heartbeat ♥️
We are heading to my partner's for Christmas and trying to figure out if it's time to tell them. It's early but honestly.. one of the main reasons is because it would be a lot easier to avoid alcohol / certain food aversions if they knew. I'm curious if anyone else is feeling the pressure to spill the beans early bc it's difficult to hide at Christmas?
@knottie (sorry, can't tag you properly cause your user name is so long! I would suggest changing it to something simpler!) I had similar thoughts. I am 10 weeks and we are telling both of our families. It just seemed convenient since everyone is together this time of year. We told my husband's side and it was fun. Unfortunately i can't see my family in person cause my parents got covid (they are OK, luckily), so we will have to do Zoom. I feel pretty safe sharing the news at this point. Its nice to finally be able to talk about it!
@knottie I always shared with family early. Once you hear a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage does drop pretty dramatically. But in addition to that, I would want our families' support if something DID happen. I only tell the really close people so it wouldn't turn into a mess. Also because I get stupid sick and I can't really hide it. It's really up to you if you want to tell them or not. If you would be ok with having to tell them bad news, and want their support, then tell them! If it would make it worse if you have to tell them bad news, then keep it secret a little longer.

Any STMs+ contract fifth disease in a prior pregnancy? I’m fairly certain DD has it (can’t get into the doctor until Monday to confirm) and since I’ve been having some cold symptoms recently I’m concerned I have it too and have read there’s a small chance in could lead to an MC. 😫
@zinnia19@tuxielove93 thanks so much for your responses, really gave me a little confidence and we decided to tell his parents but not the whole rabble. Really took the pressure off & was lovely to get their happy reactions in person thank you both xx
@creativesoul63 Both of my sons just had it and I took care of both of them through it without catching it. I’d call your doctor if you’re concerned. 🤞🏻 everything is ok
@sunshineandlemons I did a few times with my first. Just staying hydrated is the best. If you are concerned about being able to do that, call your doc. They prescribed me Zofran. Also if you still have your gallbladder bring it up as a concern. Pregnancy hormones are terrible for THe gallbladder and I thought I was having stomach bugs but had a massive gallbladder attack 7 weeks pp that reminded me of being sick during pregnancy and had an emergency gallbladder removal. They totally missed it during my pregnancy and were pretty sure I was having an attack during labor.
@francesgs This is my third in five years so I am way set on baby stuff 🤣 That said, I did have my mom get my dream carrier for Christmas. And in years past (same timing, all July babies) I had people buy stuff for Christmas. So I don’t think it’s too early to get some stuff ☺️

@tuxielove93 This is my second July baby (my other is October). I haven’t had my dating ultrasound yet but the estimated due date is 6 days after DS’ birthday. I like summer birthdays!
@francesgs Yes, guilty! I'm getting nipt tomorrow and holding off on the real shopping until gender is confirmed but I've already bought several things 🙃
@melanier26 A lot of people think I'm nuts for having all July babies. It wasn't completely on purpose that they were all in July, although two of them were planned. That just happened to be when the trying worked. BUT I actually love it. We do big trips for birthdays, so everyone is together. The doctor's appointments and clothes and milestones all line up.... It actually makes life a lot easier. My MIL specifically is in a knot about "how are you going to afford three birthdays at once..." but... I'd have to budget that money throughout the year regardless. AND we do a lot of experience gifts which are actually cheaper to do all together than trying to space them out. Win. Win. Win.

@tuxielove93 wow all july babies! Spring/Summer bdays are the best! My daughter is a Feb baby so I am looking forward to outdoor parties with this one!
I’ve bought a a couple gender neutral things, like swaddles. But then I also bought some boy onesies secondhand so I’m not out a lot, if I messed up the sneak peek test!
I have a crap ton of boys stuff from when I had my son but I don't know... I have a feeling this one I a girl even though the old wives tales and Ramzi theory say boy. Guess we'll find out when my GC does the NIPT!
@tuxielove93 That's so cool that you have all July babies! My older daughter turns 10 on July 6th and I'm due on the 10th. My younger daughter turns one at the end up April though, her birthday will probably be more difficult than the other two. Summer birthdays are the best.
Yes on the gallbladder! Mine went crazy when my daughter was 1 and every doctor kept telling me i was making it up or it was anxiety. I could barely eat at one point because of the nausea and pain in my side. If it’s your gallbladder, you’ll know. It sounds like just a stomach bug mixed with first trimester nausea.
I bought boy and girl clothes for my daughter. I knew she was a girl but her clothes don’t define her sex. If I liked it, she got it. Old navy now has a whole gender neutral section. I’ve bought holiday clothes on clearance so far in her size for next year (Halloween, thanksgiving and Xmas clothes).
This might have been asked and answered in the NiPT section and I missed it, but does anyone know typically how long it takes to get results back from the test?
@etcorgi22- My doc said 5-7 business days to get them back. Natera (company who actually did the test) said 1-3 weeks. It took 9 business days. But we did have the holidays in there so I'm sure they were extra busy. And Natera was probably being extra cautious with time frames.
Sorry if I am missing this thread somewhere… thoughts on owning a fetal Doppler? Does it seem to increase or decrease anxiety ? Are they accurate in detecting the HR? RecommendAtions on finding it and being able to tell which is momma and which is baby?
@blf2072 - I have an at home doppler - They are not accurate in detecting the HR - they are always lower than what it actually is. I just use it to hear the heartbeat and don't pay any mind to the number it says.
I have always had luck finding it right away about 4-5 inches below my belly button and slightly to the left (down near my C-section scar). Momma's HR will be much lower then baby's. The baby's will register above 100 on the doppler and mom's will usually be lower than that.
Anyone taking low-dose 81mg aspirin (fka baby aspirin) to prevent preeclampsia? If so, have you experienced any side effects or were any risks explained to you by your OBGYN?
My OBGYN recommend for me to start taking it at 12 weeks but gave an option to delay it until 16 weeks. I believe she suggested this based on 1) first baby at 35 (age risk factor) and 2) had a previous MC (this is my 2nd preg).
I read some articles and studies that say the low dosage should be safe and not have any negative side effects to mom or baby, but I’m still a bit wary of taking it.
@sacha0088 I'm on baby aspirin. I started mine in the TWW though, to help with implantation. My RE wanted me to keep taking it until I had my first appointment with my OB. I'm pretty sure I stopped taking it by now with my first. But it's my understanding that it doesn't hurt anything as long as your blood isn't too thin from it.

@sacha0088 I was on baby aspirin plus fragmin my entire pregnancy with my son. It's safe. Both my mom and grandma took baby aspirin for all their pregnancies too.
@sacha0088, my OB suggested I take a daily low dose aspirin starting at 11-6w (which was actually yesterday so I have to go get some - oops) to prevent pre-eclampsia. From what she said and I've read since then, the dosage is low enough that it doesn't hurt anything and you'd have to br taking significantly more on a regular basis to cause problems.
Hi, mamas! Has anyone experienced their doc/midwife not being able to hear a heartbeat on Doppler after 10 weeks? My midwife searched for awhile, then saw a bit of movement on US so said babe is perfectly fine. I know I should trust that, and I understand theres many a reason why we couldn’t hear it, I think I just need to hear from someone that it’s happened and heard it later. My next appt is in a week at nearly 14 weeks! Hoping to hear it then 🤞.
@sacha0088 I tested positive for Covid this last week and my OB now has me taking two 81mg tablets of aspirin daily for the rest of my pregnancy. I guess after having Covid there is an increased risk of blood clots. I’ve heard from a number of others that they are also taking it as well.
@bumpedup yes for my first pregnancy AND this one, both times at my ten week appointments they couldn’t find the heartbeat with the Doppler. Both times I had mini panic attacks. Both times they found baby on the external ultrasound flipped or turned in a way that wouldn’t allow them to capture it on a Doppler at 10 weeks. I wish they wouldn’t bother trying until later because both times I freaked out. They usually say “ah it’s too early.” But All was well.
@elmann1 thank you for this!! The us they used was really low grade, so we couldnt really see much other than basic baby movements, and she didn’t explain exactly why it wouldn’t come up. Even with the reassurance of seeing movement, my illogical worries mom brain was thinking all kinds of things 🤪. Thank you
Tl;Dr does anyone have any good prenatal nutrition websites they would recommend?
Longer story: I'm overweight/obese, and I decided that I wanted to meet with a prenatal nutritionist to make sure that I'm doing the right things for my passenger without gaining too much weight. I met with the lady today who I didn't like and won't be seeing again. She was so absolutely condescending, complete with a basket of fake fruits, vegetables, meats, and carbs, and would ask me to sort the foods in various ways. She was very sing-songy, like she was talking to a class of kindergartners. I've been doing low carb and keto dieting for the last few years, and I wanted to learn how to integrate healthy carbs, and which carbs to actually add in, and the answer I got was essentially "fruits and vegetables." Yes. I eat a lot of those. What about whole grains? She said they don't matter. Pretty much, as long as I'm taking a prenatal vitamin, what I eat doesn't matter as much. 😳 Anyone have any good online suggestions for meal planning for a healthy pregnancy?
