For our first 2 girls, I co-slept with both in the early days (6 weeks for DD1 and 3 weeks for DD2). Not really by choice - neither would sleep if not on me at first. Then they slept in our room, right next to my side of the bed, in a bassinet until 4-5 months old before going to their own rooms.
Mamas who have used the Haakaa… did y’all use just the pump or the little milk collector things or both? I feel like I see a lot of raves about the Haakaa and I’m wondering if it’s the milk collectors that all the raving is about, bc it does seem like a pretty cool concept.
@MrsLaLaBug uhhh idk what it's called but I just used the silicone container thingy that suctions to your boob. Mediocre results because I never leaked, so it only worked with extremely engorged boobs.
@MrsLaLaBug I used a hakkaa and really loved it. I despised pumping and I really appreciated that I could just use the hakkaa while I was already breastfeeding - I didn't have to spend extra time pumping. It also helped increase supply. I was able to build up a bit of a stash with it, but I also was home all the time (thanks covid) so my son never really got used to a bottle. I ended up using most of it in his cereal when we started him on solids.
@MrsLaLaBug@pajamstagrams that’s what I used too but never figured our a great way to keep it on, especially when she’d flail around while eating. Need to do more research on how to keep it on since now we’ll add a toddler in the mix. I did like catching what would’ve otherwise gone to waste. We weren’t successful with nursing so I’d just put it into whatever I pumped after attempting to nurse.
Hakka never really worked for me besides minor collection when letdown would happen. Idk maybe my boobs are shaped weird but it wouldn’t stay on lol. I *am* hella tempted to get one of the hands free pumps this time (not planning on pumping exclusively but just want to have enough to have on hand in case of emergency or so that I can occasionally not be the one feeding). @mothercould on Instagram has been testing one out this week and I am riveted 😅 they’re just so freaking expensive and you get a free regular one through insurance…but I really hate pumping lol
@skc040512 I got the willow pumps last time and they were life changing as someone who exclusively pumped. So much better than all the wires and stuff. One of them took a swim in some milk last time but I plan to buy them again even though they’re $$$$. I used my HSA at least which was a small plus
Talking about this is making me remember how much I hate changing out soaked breast pads every few hours, I think that’s why I’m hoping the raves are true 😂
I know this is super early but. Baby clothes. Cute, sustainable, organic. I love to shop small or American made whenever possible, so those are always bonuses. I usually do my bulk shopping at places like Old Navy, Walmart or Target (or consignment!) to save on the every day stuff, but I do like to keep a few nicer outfits on hand for every size. Buttttt it’s been awhile since I shopped for baby girl clothes lol.
@skc040512 i got a lot of DDs nicer outfits from Smocked Auctions, Beaufort Bonnet Company and Dillards has a few brands of darling baby clothes and outfits.
@skc040512 idk about sustainable/organic, but Baby Boden/Mini Boden have super cute clothes for special outfits. Kate Quinn has cute stuff too, as long as you like neutral/muted colors (I don't remember seeing anything bold or jewel toned) and can get away with long/skinny. Burt's bees has some good every day type onesies, but they are now banned in our house because the arms (and everything) are incredibly skinny and DH HATED putting them on DD and all her rolls. 😂
STMs+ : question. We're in the process of planning DD's (3) big girl room that she'll move into sometime before May. she's getting a twin bed, so I bought her new sheets, and am now debating a matching quilt. Problem is, she doesn't sleep with blankets. At all. She kicks them off as soon as we leave the room. Do you think it's worth it to get, just in case she outgrows this? I don't *think* she's getting too hot (we keep our house ~70 and she wears long johns year round) but maybe she is??
@pajamstagrams DD1did the same thing when she first moved to a twin bed. About 3-4 months after, she started keeping a sheet on her and about a month or so after that, she started keeping the quilt on. Now she’s 5.5 and sleeps under like 4 blankets regardless of the weather lol. DD2 is almost 4 and still regularly kicks the blankets off, but she does like starting with her sheets and quilts on most nights. TLDR: she’ll probably outgrow it but you also probably don’t have to rush out and buy something for her right away
I’m wanting to purchase a pack n play type thing with a bassinet. Any specific one you guys recommend? Target had a cyber Monday deal on one, but it didn’t get great reviews. I don’t care so much about having a 4-in-1 pack n play with an infant seat and diaper station. Just the bassinet option. Thanks!
@brookejay06 only one I ever had was a Graco. I think it might have been the 4-in-1 but I never used all the little attachment things either. I saw one at Kohl’s that looked like it was just the play yard and bassinet only!
@brookejay06 Not inexpensive but we have the Guava lotus and bassinet and I love it. It is on sale for cyber monday. I love that the basinet rocks but then it turns into a regular pack and play and is super easy to pack up/wash.
@pajamstagrams Buy the quilt. She will start wanting it soon enough. Buy a solid color/patterned quilt that she can grow with though rather than the cutesy/character ones that she will outgrow in a few months. We do character pillowcases and solid/striped sheets, solid blankets. Our daughter has had the same solid color comforter for 2.5 yrs now and is still happy with it because its pink.
@third2022 yeah I'm trying to spend minimal amounts of money on a "theme" for her room because I have no idea when/if her shark obsession will turn to something else... but the shark quilt is just so cute! 😂🙈 I suppose baby brother could always use it later too.
I pulled my back out this morning putting on my leggings 🤦🏻♀️
Any tips for managing the pain or stretch suggestions? I've only ever pulled my back out once and I just loaded up on some pain meds and a heating pad until it healed.
@pajamstagrams Is there a pillow sham you can get with the pattern? My daughter goes through phases of liking different characters every week it feels like
@third2022 yeah the matching pillow sham is sold separately. But I'm less likely to buy that because decorative pillows seem realllly extra for a toddler, despite how adorable the whole look would be. (Obviously I still haven't fully convinced myself *not* to buy it 🙈).
Hi, looking for recs on maternity-friendly workout videos or templates for the gym. Specifically ones for someone who never reallllly got back into working out after the first kid was born. I’m so nervous to get back into it and afraid my body won’t be able to do anything!! But I can feel the lack of strength, especially in my back and flutes, and I know I need that as I become more middle-heavy
@brookejay06 I know there’s a bunch out there but the only one coming to mind at the moment is GetMomStrong on Instagram. She has a program specifically for pregnancy, and then does a tonnnnn of postpartum stuff, including PFPT
@brookejay06, are you open to doing group workouts? Depending on where you live there may be a fit4mom and/or SLAM group. Both have pregnancy safe workouts and offer modifications based on skill level, how far along you are in your pregnancy, or how far along you are postpartum. I've done both and loved them. You get a great workout meant for your body and build a whole network of mom friends. You can bring kids to either, which is helpful, too (although fit4mom does have some mom only workouts.)
Check out deliciouslyfitnhealthy on Instagram. She posts at-home workouts all the time and also has some programs you can buy. Her kids are always running around in the background too She’s a certified personal trainer for pregnancy and postpartum with a strong emphasis on deep core engagement to prevent/mitigate/repair diastasis recti (ab separation / mummy tummy).
Hey y’all has anyone already ordered their free breast pump through insurance yet? Last time I did this I know I went on some website that just handled everything after entering all the info and I can’t remember what it was. How are y’all going about it? I’m so old and out of the loop and of course gave my pump away YEARS ago.
@MrsLaLaBug I haven’t yet, but last time I used the Aeroflow site which is one you just enter all your info in! I’ll most likely go that route again this time
@MrsLaLaBug last time I called my insurance to get the actual list of what they would provide, and the approved companies to order from. Whatever was online was beyond out of date. I think they had to send something to my OB to verify I was pregnant?? It was a pretty quick turnaround overall. Very easy process.
@MrsLaLaBug my doctor gives you info for ordering around 28 weeks. I think the website is McKesson. They file with your insurance and let you know what is covered under your policy. In the past, mine either ships at the time of hospital admission (and it’s basically overnighted to you), or around 38 weeks (I had 2 different insurance providers over the course of my 3 pregnancies)
Anyone found any good warm leggings that could possibly be good for during and after pregnancy Its starting to get cold here and I really don't want to try and squeeze into jeans if I don't need to. Lol. My last 2 pregnancies were summer ones.
