I used the Wildbird sling as well. It worked really perfect for us in the new born stage like pretty much everyone else said. Kinda as a joke someone got my DH the tactical baby gear and she actually loved that carrier. It got really hot thought so it didn't work well with the Texas heat.
@kissyfir1586 I never got the hang of the Moby wrap I was gifted, I found it to be so much material and really hot so I gave up (for reference though, my son was a June baby; warmer might not matter so much when it isn't sweltering hot outside). I've heard very good things about the Solly wrap but haven't tried it personally, my SIL has been using hers daily for probably the last 6 weeks and finds it super comfortable and lightweight. I got a K'tan that I really liked, I found it felt snug enough and was so easy to use because there's no wrapping; the only downside is it's sized like a shirt so not always easy to have someone else wearing baby, especially dad! I didn't like my Ergo, I found it bulky and like I could never get it tight enough. I'm hoping to borrow an Artipoppe since I don't really want to shell out for it, but we'll see.
This is my first pregnancy (I'm due Sept 2nd) and I have a paternity leave related question. I was wondering what is the best timing for DH to use his paternity leave. He gets 4 weeks of paternity leave and has 1 week of PTO saved up - so total 5 weeks. His company lets him spread his time off 1 week at a time. I am trying to find out when I will need his help the most, to decide what weeks he should take off.
Should he take 2 weeks right after the baby comes and spread out the remaining 3 weeks over time, taking 1 week at a time between October and December? Or will I need him around for longer than 2 weeks to help around the house and with the baby to recover in September?
@lilly_blue do you have to decide in advance? If so, I’d see if he can take at least 3 weeks to start and then spread the others. I think as a FTM you’ll be happy to have help in those early weeks as much as possible.
@agea Thank you! This is helpful. I was thinking along the same lines but wasn't sure. We will plan for atleast 3 weeks of paternity leave after the baby comes.
