Does anyone use Preggie Pops or any other hard candies to help with nausea? I think I am going to need that when I go back to work next week. I can't sit there eating crackers in front of my students, but I can probably sneak a hard candy here and there.
@emeraldduchess yes! I love them! I have tried a couple different drops and they are my favorite by far. I have also found that sour candy in general, like sour patch kids, helps but that might be hard to hide too.

@krash_ yeah, they will not be happy or understand why I get to eat candy in class. I will order some Preggie Pop drops. I also really want root beer barrels for some reason. I don't think I have had those in 20+ years. Glad Amazon sells them in case I can't find them at the store!
@runningoncookies thanks! I want to hold off on telling my students for as long as possible. Might not tell them at all, just wait and see if they eventually notice a bump. 😆
@emeraldduchess what grade do you teach? They might not even notice. My SIL teaches middle school and some kids get really excited about her pregnancies and others are totally clueless. They’re so funny.
@agea I teach fifth grade, so right on the cusp of middle school. I don't know how excited they will be since they'll have graduated and be in a different school by the time the baby comes. I have a few who will be excited, but upset they won't get to meet the baby. In my last school, one of the middle school teachers was pregnant and the students were VERY concerned about her going into labor and delivering IN class. They kept asking, "what do we do if it happens during class?!?" I'm pretty sure they thought the baby was just going to fall out without warning. 😆
@emeraldduchess I like the taste of preggie pops, but noticed the lemon ones (that I like the best) turn your tongue intensely yellow, like...🤢. It's seriously really gross and actually dyed my toothbrush bristles trying to get it off.
I've been eating lifesavers instead. They are just sour enough and don't seem to have as much coloring.
@emeraldduchess I teach high school - so totally different, but I was able to hold off on telling my students last year until I was 23 weeks..or so I thought. When I finally told them they all started laughing and said they'd been assuming for over a month!
@emeraldduchess oh I’m sure they’re going to think you’ll go straight into labor lol. @chewie5990 w both pregnancies I’ve waited so long to announce widely at work that basically everyone was like, yeah we know. It’s almost kind of embarrassing after thinking you’ve been sly. It’s hard to be around people everyday and truly hide it.
also I just ordered some preggie pops thanks to this thread. Hard candies made me think of creme savers candy (does anyone remember those??) anyway I tried to find them and apparently were discontinued in the early 00’s!! I had no idea but was disappointed.
Well the Preggie Pops did nothing for my evening nausea. 😑 We were driving home from dinner at my IL's yesterday and DH had to pull over so I could throw up. They helped in the afternoon, so I guess they weren't a total waste. At least they taste good. @agea I remember the creamy lifesavers! Those were good, but I can see why they'd be discontinued.
I’m down to 1 pair of jeans that fit since I wore the thighs out on my other 2 that fit 😂🤭
by mid day the bloat and squish is just too much to handle and I’m trying to find some maternity jeans. I don’t wear leggings, only jeans but everything just keep falling off my butt.
Help me if you have a brand and style that actually fit.
(I’m also a millennial and need skinny jeans, my side part and 🤣 emoji)
@arrowmama 😂😂😂 I’m with you on the skinny jeans side part and clearly by my choice of emoji here you know I’m a millennial too.....
im not plus size but I’m very short (5ft) and more apple-shaped. I have actually been running into the same problem, as all maternity jeans that fit on my stomach are falling off my butt after 20 minutes of wearing them.
I wish I had a solution but at the moment I do not!!! Just sharing my solidarity
@arrowmama I'm plus size and had gained a bunch of weight during fertility treatments so my jeans stopped fitting around 5/6 weeks. I tried maternity jeans from Target and they don't stay up since I don't have wide enough hips to keep them up. I wanted to try a pair of Old Navy ones, but they didn't have any in my size.
@arrowmama I have been living in the Old Navy pull on jeggings. They are the perfect in between of regular pants and maternity pants. I believe they have a pretty good size run too.

@arrowmama They can pry my skinnies from my cold, dead thighs. 😂
I'm also plus sized and yeah, can't deal with the jeans right now. The button is just so uncomfortable for me now. I've been living in leggings while working from home and yoga dress pants when I have to leave the house. Not sure I'm going to invest in the actual maternity jeans because I'm thinking I'll be mostly in dresses over the summer when I get really big.
Hi all! Has anyone purchased a pregnancy pillow yet? I'm finding it hard getting into a comfy position and I'm trying to get into the habit of sleeping on my left side for the later trimesters. I was thinking of looking into a pregnancy pillow to help with comfort/prevent me from rolling on my back (I know this isn't as big as a concern in the 1st trimester. I just usually sleep on my back so I'm trying to break that habit earlier on).
I find my full panel maternity jeans from old navy are my worst ones for slipping down. I’ve had the best luck with H&M maternity pants. Downside is not many stores carry them if you want to try on.
@rainbowstarrr Why are you trying to put yourself in so many uncomfortable positions before you actually have to be in them? Sleep the way you’re comfortable. By the time you get to third, it’s going to be however you can comfortably fall asleep be it the left side, right side, or slightly tilted on your back.
@rainbowstarrr I use just a regular body pillow, pretty sure I got it from target. Sleeping on my back is already uncomfortable for me. I’m a belly sleeper mostly
@rainbowstarrr the only maternity specific pillow I have ever purchased is a little wedge to put under my bump (and also works as a crib wedge for rounded bassinets). I just use a regular pillow between my knees and, when i need it, a regular pillow behind my back.
@runningonindie no they aren't maternity. The elastic waist is sort of a control panel too so it's helping keep my bloat in and not look as pregnant so early. Order once size up if you want to be able to wear them longer. I had a couple bigger pairs that I wore well into second tri last time and then they were perfect for post partum when nothing fits too.
@rainbowstarrr I used a shredded memory foam body pillow last time that I will probably wait as long as possible to bust out because it takes up so much of the bed. I don't think I would like a true maternity pillow because I want my own pillow under my head not that flat poly filled log.

@rainbowstarr I second (or third maybe..) the regular body pillow over the gigantic pregnancy pillows! We got a super cheap one at wal-mart and I'll probably bust it out in the next month or so. I definitely would recommend sleeping however you're comfortable now..save the crappy sleep for when it's unavoidable!
@rainbowstarrr - FWIW, in my first two pregnancies I was worried about sleeping on my back. My OB told me if I wake up on my back, it’s fine. Essentially, you’ll wake up and switch positions if you aren’t getting enough blood back to your heart. It’s almost like an automatic body response. Like I said, take it’s for what it’s worth. I won’t be stressing if I wake up on my stomach or back.

Hi all, thanks so much for your advice on sleeping positions and pillows! I think I'll give the body pillow a try. I have a midwife appointment next week and will talk to her about sleeping positions. I've had it in my head that left is best, maybe I read something wrong. And since I'm usually a back sleeper I thought I should start trying to sleep on my left more before the later trimesters. Thanks all!
@rainbowstarrr Sleeping positions are more important in the late second and third trimester. You should sleep however you want at this point. Sleeping on your back will be so uncomfortable when the baby gets bigger than you won’t want to sleep that way. You will switch sides all night long just trying to get comfy. There is no need to train your body to sleep a certain way. Be comfortable right now while you can. I use king size pillows on all sides of me. I can hug it and put it between my knees to support my hips. Having one behind me keeps me from rolling to my back. Sometimes I prefer to lean on it and sorta sleep on my back when I’m really uncomfortable. I like having one on both sides so when I switch sides I don’t have to take the pillow with me. Rolling over with a huge belly is hard enough without taking a giant pillow with you.
@sawasap Motherhood maternity has plus size maternity pants. The jeans are wide leg, but fit me really well (I wore size 20 before pregnancy, ordered 2x maternity pants).
I got skinny and wide legged black pants for work. The wide leg ones are huge and the skinny ones are super tight. I hate maternity pants!
Since I only work in the office a day or two a week, I mostly live in Stars Above lounge pants from target
STM's: anyone feel like they are extra snappy or reactive lately? I feel like I have been losing my cool with DS more frequently and I'm not sure if it's hormones/pregnancy related or just general stress/burnout/pandemic/winter stuff.

@krash_ Absolutely. I think the majority of it for me is just pandemic related, but part of it definitely is from the pregnancy exhaustion. Just everything combined and I've got next to no patience these days.
@krash_ Yes, it all hormonal for me. It happens PP too. I have to be very aware of my moods and work hard on keeping my cool and patience with my kids.
@krash_ 100% I feel like my parenting has taken quite a hit.
I'm laid off during the winter months-So I am home with my son 24/7(which is normally one of my favorite times).
Pregnancy-I'm exhausted so I snap more readily, and am too tired to play with him like I normally do.
Pandemic-We can't go anywhere, do anything, or see anyone.
Winter in general- during the summer months we spend a lot of time in the backyard but I hate the cold so we hide out in the house over the winter. We only go outside to play now if we get new snow.
However! My husband has been a champion in taking over for most of the day especially since his hours got cut at work. He does the nap and bedtime routines, most baths, and has probably changed 90% of diapers for the past 6 weeks.
@krash_ absolutelyyyyyy. when DD was sick last week it was like the world was ending. literally had to drop everything and leave to go to the grocery store i was on the verge

I’ve tried target, Walmart - found an okay begging type but I hate the wash, amazon and I can’t find my size at old navy in styles I like.
I also need a bathing suit and shorts four out trip to Key West and Disney world in april. Ughhh I hate clothing shopping.
