Re: April 2021 FET

  • Hi!!!
    <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/au/lsceondwrx7y.gif" alt="">
I just had my SHG appointment today, and we're all good to start our transfer cycle as soon as I get CD1!!! B)

I don't have a set schedule yet, and we will have to be extra flexible being that it's a natural FET, but if all goes well, it will most likely be around the last week of April.

    *embryo discussion*
<div class=" Spoiler">We have two 6CB non-PGS embryos remaining, so as hopeful as I am for two more THBs, I am also having to check my expectations.</div>
    ****TW**** loss / success
<div class=" Spoiler">We lost one "perfect" 5AA embryo before getting our S18 baby, and two more beautiful embryos before getting our A20 baby.</div>
    *infertility story*
<div class=" Spoiler">We did two ERs for me in 2017 using sperm obtained from my husband's successful MESA / TESE procedure due to Azoospermia.  It's hard for me to say, but this may well be the end of our chances at biological kids if these two don't work, as we no longer have sperm in storage, and no plans to do another IVF cycle.</div>
    *family planning*
<div class=" Spoiler">We always wanted a bigger family, and while we knew we were getting a late start, (as many people do these days), we were not exactly planning on infertility, either.  :/  We are already luckier than we deserve, and we have always had adoption on the table as well, so time will tell what remains in store for our family...</div><div>
</div><div>Hope to see more people join in on this journey together in April! <3

Hello! My DH and I are both 35. Dx Male infertility, low everything. I am going to join you although I am pretty sure I'll be a May Transfer.
     *Trigger Warning*
I have 2 PGS normal girl embryos.  We will transfer one at a time.  I have a doppler U/S and mock transfer on Thursday then Hysteroscopy to remove scar tissue on 3/30.  Not sure how long after that I will start transfer meds but hoping not too long.   I'm feeling very lucky to have gotten this far on my first IVF attempt.  These forums helped so much when I was going through stims and retrieval.     I hope lots of ladies join and I get to go through this with all of you.

  • Welcome! @danij823 and Congratulations on your girls!!! 💕💕💕 As recall, I had my hysteroscopy and polypectomy in October, and was transferring in November, but I also didn't have a long or complicated protocol.  Hopefully it will be quick for you, too!

@BusinessWife thank you, that's great !  I hope it's quicker than I think. I am going to ask my Dr when I see her this week, at least for a tentative date.  Or even a Month lol.  We'll see, I am just thrilled to have embryos to transfer and trying to stay calm.  Are you transferring both embryos at once?

Hi ladies! Hoping I can join in  :) I am not-so-patiently waiting for CD1 to start my FET process.

@BusinessWife what a journey!! Looks like we might be on a similar timeline...almost transfer buddies!

@danij823 Hi! I also had a Hysteroscopy and it wasn’t too bad. Hopefully things will go quickly for you after that!

I have a great feeling about this month for us all.

    I am 34, DH is 36.

    ********TW********

This will be an attempt for Baby #2. We had a very long, hellish road to get my DD who is almost a year and a half now. Three years, four IUIs, two retrievals, four transfers, two miscarriages. We finally got some answers at our second infertility clinic - I have major immune issues. I was on so many medications and other alternative therapies/procedures to get that pregnancy to stick and so our plan is to do the exact same thing in hopes it can work again!! If anyone is interested in the protocol or meds I can share in more detail :)

    *********END TW*******

The closer it gets the more all of these old feelings and fear are creeping up a bit but, as of right now, I am excited and eager to get started. I just began my Intralipids infusions last week and I should be getting my period any day now. They usually transfer around CD21 so looking (hoping) like a mid-April transfer for me. We have six embryos on ice, did not get them tested!
  • @danij823 No, just one at a time.  I think my clinic pretty much always does eSET, (elective single embryo transfer.) They were strong enough to make it to freeze, so hopefully our little ducklings may pleasantly surprise us afterall!
  • <b>Update</b>:  My nurse called, and YES!!  We should still be good for an April transfer, however my thyroid is just a little elevated.  They want it under 2.5, so while mine is still "normal" (under 4.0) it's not what they consider ideal for TTC.  I had to take 25mcg synthroid with my first set of transfers as well, so it's not surprising.  Glad we've caught it now so the synthroid has time to bring my levels down!  She said it can take 4-6 weeks to really be effective.
  • @BusinessWife Yay!  I'm so excited for you!

@ellemarie7 Hi! Welcome and I'm hoping the best for you :)
  • @ellemarie7 Ah!  I missed your post there, Welcome!  Wow, that does sound like a real slog uphill, but so happy you finally found what worked for you!  I would love to find out more about your protocol, just for nerdiness sake lol and who knows if there may be any semi practical tips you have learned that any of us can incorporate?

I am doing a brazil nut a day, because why not!?  And also <i>boucoups de avocados</i>, somewhat this cycle, but more importantly for next.  I took pomegranate juice and beets in the past as well, so I found some pom juice concentrate to throw into the mix, and RRL for any time between now, prior to transfer.  And we'll have to see about that pineapple core!  Lol  But honestly, I know it feels so random sometimes.  I remember in the past, by the time we've gotten through everything we've been through, I'm just going through the motions at that point ......and then...... it works!!!!  I'm so glad you are feeling positive about this cycle!  Please do keep it up -- Positivity is infectious! ☺️☺️☺️
  • I'm pretty sure we'll have an April transfer... I feel like I've been waiting forever. ER was in early February, and then we waited awhile for testing results, and then I ovulated through the BC pills, and now I'm waiting for my period to start so we can start FET cycle.

*TW: embryo stuff, other children, losses*
We have 5 PGS-tested embryos, 2 girls and 3 boys. We have two boys right now, 4 and 2 years old, so we're definitely transferring a girl first. Too many dudes around here, haha. I'm just eager to get this going, because at 39, I'm getting tired of this TTC stuff, even though we've had it relatively easy (our boys were conceived naturally - is that the right thing to say?). We had two losses last year, though. We decided to do IVF mostly because of my age (39). And that's my life story I suppose.  :#
  • @lisa3379 Yay, I'm transferring a girl too!  It's all we have, but it's perfect because we both really wanted a girl!
I'll likely be a May transfer though.
  • Good Morning Ladies!
@danij823 thank you, keep us posted how Thursday goes!

@Lisa3379 welcome to the party ;) Two boys!! I am also sorry about your losses. I hope your period arrives soon so you can get everything started!

@BusinessWife thank you! I absolutely know what you mean when you say at some point in the journey you are just going through the motions. I also did the pom juice and the pineapple core! It's kind of like, whatever works and in your mind the more little fertility tricks/myths you partake in the better right?! I mean, it can't hurt at least. And I am a nerd too about this stuff - my protocol is pretty intense. For the last two months to prep I've been on Metformin for insulin resistance and possible PCOS, along with an antihistamine protocol (Benedryl, Pepcid, Claritin daily), Plaquenil, Prednisone, Vitamin D, and Baby Aspirin. I'll continue those throughout. Once things really get going I will add in Lovenox, Neupogen, low-dose HCG injections and Prograf. I'll also do Estrace vaginally and orally, the PIO shots and Endometrin inserts. Lastly I do weekly Intralipid infusions, and will schedule an HCG and PRP wash a few days before the transfer. I also go full keto (which I hate). Whewwww it is a lot. By the time I got to this clinic, they quite literally threw the kitchen sink at me. So we aren't exactly sure what it is that's our magic bullet!

With that said...I woke up with my period this morning so I'm officially on CD1 friends! Really excited. Just messaged the clinic to see next steps.

  • Oh wow!  CD1!!!! 🎉 That's so exciting!  @ellemarie7

That is quite a lot!  I have heard of people taking metformin or doing low carb / keto / low inflammation type of diets.  Is keto specifically something that's been shown to benefit people in general?  I was curious about baby aspirin, because I know that's something that people will kind of self-prescribe, but I wasn't sure if there was really evidence to support that.  I didn't realize you could take something like claritin throughout pregnancy too!  I am always afraid to take something, and then you see a protocol like that being continued on throughout pregnancy, FOR PREGNANCY, and it seems like maybe sometimes we probably worry a bit much over nothing.

@BusinessWife wooo! Fingers crossed you're next!!

While I hate doing keto (I was vegetarian for a few years sooo eating all this meat again really kills me), I feel great when I'm on it. More energy, less bloated, clearer headed. I definitely understand now and agree that carbs/sugar are pretty terrible for your body. There is quite a bit of research that shows a correlation between infertility treatment success and a low carb/keto diet. For my last egg retrieval I started keto three months before for egg quality and I had a MUCH higher fertilization rate and better quality/more embryos. I definitely attribute that to the keto diet. I'm on it again this time to help lower inflammation/prepare for a hopefully successful implantation! My RE really gets behind keto. And I've definitely jumped on the bandwagon because I think it's for sure helped me.

With the baby aspirin, I also was/will be on Lovenox again so they say I probably don't really need to take both. I just did it last time for peace of mind, definitely more self-prescribed as you mentioned lol. In my opinion the research is iffy on it. But at the point I was at back in 2019 I would have done anything and everything. My RE didn't stop me from taking it, said it was fine, and I took it all the way through my pregnancy. Plan on just doing that again too!

For the Claritin/Antihistamine Protocol my RE says allergies and heartburn are an immune response in the body so this protocol is just another way to suppress the immune system. I do stop this protocol (and everything else too, besides the Baby Aspirin) at 14 weeks pregnant. I know what you mean about not wanting to take anything during pregnancy. I think after what we've all been through, it's not a surprise that we all are a little anxious and overthink everything when we are pregnant right?!

    **TW
I'm definitely a unique case and had a complete immune workup and RPL panel done after my second M/C since I was always classified as "unexplained infertility," and this protocol was the outcome of that. The loose belief is essentially that my body does not like pregnancy, sees the embryo as foreign and flares my immune system up to get rid of it like it would a sickness. So all the immune suppression meds is what works for me! Kind of crazy. And also depressing lol. I'm just grateful that we figured out a way to make it work. Here's hoping we get another miracle!

I am rooting for us all!!!!
  • Hey ladies, I am also on keto.  It's great for losing weight and I feel way better on it as well.  It's not easy though.  I just had my preop and am now looking at a June transfer so I'll probably have to try to find a new board lol.  I have surgery on Tuesday to remove scar tissue but I guess they are going in and cleaning all the lining out and making it all smooth and shiny in there lol.  Then 3 weeks of Estradiol 2x a day, then progesterone for 10 days, then a period, then FINALLY transfer meds.  So mid to late June. This is so exhausting and tedious.  I hope for all of us that it all pays off in the end! :)
  • Oh wow, June!? @danij823. I'm sorry for the delay.  That does sound like a long way off, but I guess it's not really, and I'm sure it will go by quickly once you start taking meds and stuff.  At least you will feel like you are "doing" something.  ((((Hugs)))). Please keep us updated with your surgery etc.  You could always start a May/June FET thread if you want?  There may be more people on your similar timeline than you think!
  • @BusinessWife
Any excuse to eat avocados is a good one, imo.  I like doing a high protein, lower carb diet for transfers since I think it's full of good things for your body. And try to stick to whole foods as much as possible -- lots of fish, meat, veggies, fruit, whole grains. Yesterday I made a big piece of salmon with some basil butter for lunch and dinner, yum. If you don't have much time for cooking or prep, a meal prep company like Hungry Root is great for keep you stocked with yummy (but good for you) foods and simple recipe meals for breakfast/lunch. I tend to spend more time on dinner and do lots of roasting and grilling.  But with DD's b-day this week, I'll likely be eating McDonald's burgers (her favorite, sans bun) and cake for at least one meal!

  • @ellemarie7  I have been eating a good amount of fruit (not too many actual sweets) and a little bit of toast in the morning.  It's also Lent so I can't really go crazy with the meat (veggies are fine though) at least until after Easter.  I will look at my day here and see if I can make a couple tweaks to start moving in a more keto direction.  I've done it before, and I do really well on it too, it can just be so hard to shift gears, Kwim?  Not sure how long it would take before it would make much difference though...
  • @mbradfo2 ah, that is not a bad idea.  I saw a company like that that had keto options and I think it would help me not have to think about it as much, at least not every meal, and also get the ball rolling like well this meal was so yummy and its not going to work if I'm no consistent.  Luckily at least we have been doing a lot more whole foods, so that's at least been healthier for us over the past year (I mean apart from obvious treats here and there, our main diet has been more whole food based.)

@Lisa3379 I'm sorry about the limbo STILL.  I feel like that's the hardest part, just waiting indefinitely for something to happen... Eventually. :/ ((((Hugs))))

@danij823 oh nooo! Everything always feels so drawn out doesn't it, I'm sorry about the wait. Hopefully it goes quick for you! <3

@BusinessWife yes...totally hard to shift gears. I'm a pasta girl so going back to keto is like night and day lol. Makes me very cranky at first :) I actually have tried to find some research/literature on how long you have to be on it for it to be effective and came up with nada. If you find anything send my way!
  • I stumbled across this link:
    https://natural-fertility-info.com/frozen-embryo-transfer.html

I actually still have l-arginine and myo-inositol from before, I was thinking of starting it again, but I guess I'm nervous to take too much at once.  I see you tho! 🙈 @ellemarie7 lol I would love if I do the thing and it helps, but since my doctor hasn't personally prescribed it for me, I'm so nervous to try it and it's actually harmful 😬

Tonight I'm making turkey meat sauce with a little bit of zoodles I have, and I have some cauliflower as well.  DH will want the pasta lol.  I think tomorrow will be chicken breast and greens.  I have some falafel I need to make and tabouli mix! 😩 I may have to give myself a little time to taper in and do some better meal planning on the mean time. :/. So I can shop accordingly...
  • @BusinessWife ooo I will check that link out! And I could not agree with you more on that. This process is so different for everyone and I feel all of our protocols are so unique and specialized for a reason. I would never take anything outside of what was recommended to me or approved by my RE! I don't know much about l-arginine but I actually think I took myo-inositol before my last egg retrieval haha!

And that sounds delish!! I hate food shopping, do ya'll have Instacart or something similar where you are? It's been my savoir. I've maybe been in a grocery store twice since COVID. I also do the Factor 75 meal delivery service they have good Keto options :)
  • @BusinessWife I was prescribed aspirin for my ER or transfer--i think because of all the estrogen? we'll see if they do the same again.

Hi Ladies! I'm lurking/participating in March and April FET threads but won't transfer until May at the earliest.  Just waiting for CD1 before I start BC.

    ***TW Success***
I had an ER back in 2018 after 3 years of TTC.  I have one completely blocked tube and my husband has 0-1% morphology, so it was proposed we go right to IVF.   I during that time I was very active on the boards and am grateful for all the support and information.  We were very lucky with our ER: 29 eggs and ended up with 5 tested embryos (we have chosen not to know the sex).  We transferred 1 in late 2018 and had our son in 2019.
  • Yay! @blackhottamales glad to see you back!  I didn't know you have MFI as well.  Welcome to the club! 😂 How long will you be on BCPs?
  • @BusinessWife I should only be on BC a few weeks. Basically, they do it to be able to control the timing.  It should only be 3 to 4 weeks.  I can't remember how long from the last transfer.  My PP periods have been fairly consistent, but we've decided to stick with the same protocol as last time since it went well.

I'm actually surprised how quickly this month is going. AF should be here this weekend or early next week.  I can't wait.
  • edited March 2021
That's so exciting! @blackhottamales we did medicated cycles the first time around for me, and then tried natural for our second.  We even went back to medicated and had something weird where my progesterone didn't rise on the PIO?  I have my suspicions the oil might not have been getting all the way into the muscle, because I was doing them myself, and I'm sure you know how hard it can be to reach the right spot!???  But my nurse insisted 1. I would know because it would have been very painful and 2. My numbers would have still gone up somewhat if it had gone sub q instead of IM.  Mine were like, practically zero. Lol 😬 so we cancelled and went back to natural. 🤷 So once AF comes (in a couple weeks yet), then it's game on over here!  It's wild how fast it all starts to happen... Hope the time on BCPs flies by for you, too!

ETA I have something I'm getting ready for, so I might take a bit of a bump break, but I'll be back!  I'm sure it won't be long, either, just a heads up if I'm a little quiet. ❤️
  • @blackhottamales welcome back! Hope AF comes quickly for you <3

Ladies, had my baseline ultrasound and I guess everything was okay but I have a huuuge cyst on one of my ovaries! They didn’t seem concerned at all and said it’s normal when you have your period (I’m on CD3). And as long as my estrogen levels look good it’s just “hanging out” and not bothering anything, should dissolve quickly on its own. We are proceeding as normal with the FET. I’m not going to stress about it but was just wondering if any of you gals have had this happen or heard of similar stories and all was fine?
  • edited March 2021
@BusinessWife oh interesting, i know we didn't transfer at the same time before, but for some reason, i thought you had always done a natural FET.  Sounds like you have a nice plan going forward.

@ellemarie7 I had a cyst, i can't remember if it was during ER or FET but they just drained it and it was no big deal.  It didn't delay anything.  They gave me a light pain killer that was amazing and i didn't feel a thing. I'll go back and see if i can find my post around it, because i know i was super nervous as well that it would change my timeline.

    ETA:
Here is my original post around my cyst:
"AF showed up yesterday. Shortest cycle I’ve had in awhile but LP was the same, just surged earlier than normal. Went in for blood work and ultrasound today-have a large (3.3cm) cyst on my ovary but “good news” is the blood work showed it isn’t hormone producing. I have to have it drained tomorrow morning and then start stims tomorrow too.
Ive never had a cyst that I’m aware of but they said it happens often in priming. I’m taking a Valium before so I’m more relaxed. I’m happy we don’t have to adjust ER timing. "
  • @blackhottamales okay, that is good news and definitely makes me feel better! Thank you for sending. So I did get my blood work back this afternoon and everything was good to go (except my TSH is a little high, it was last time too so I’m back on a low dose of Synthroid), which like you said shows that it’s not hormone producing so not an issue! They actually didn’t say anything at all about draining it. I wonder if that’s because I’m not stimming, just going into an FET?
  • @ellemarie7 Glad all is well and you are all systems go!  They just started me on a low dose of synthroid, too.  I took it with my first, but not my second?  Go figure.  But yeah, with the cyst, since they aren't going up in there by your ovaries, so no point in going out of their way to drain it.  Hopefully it's benign and everything stays on course! :)
  • How is everyone doing?

I did go ahead and start taking the l-arginine and myo inositol since I keep reading about both of those, and not just for retrieval, so I figure can't hurt.  I can always stop at a certain point if I don't feel comfortable.

I also got some castor oil!? Lol I may try that to increase bloodflow to the uterus between now and AF, and then just switch to plain heating pads once my cycle actually starts.  I got some more RRL tea so I can be drinking that consistently, as well as more cheapie opks and hcg strips because... I used 6 or 7 OPKs this cycle and only have 5 left. :/ And I can't find the cheapie pregnancy strips I JUST BOUGHT 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 (we won't talk about that lol). Feeling more prepared now at least!

Pre auth came through for my Ovidrel but it's too soon to order so.... Now we wait.
    <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/qy/0qrerp97og7s.gif" alt="">
  • @BusinessWife I was hoping to pop back in here and see that AF had arrived for you! Where isss sheeee.

AFM, I had my second u/s and BW appt. yesterday. Lining was already at 8.3 and my RE said everything looked good to go...scheduled the transfer for 4/8  :o I was not expecting it to be this quick, ahhh! Lots of emotions.

With that said, I feel really out of the game. What do I need to be eating/doing to give this the best possible chance (outside of still being keto)? I do think I want to do the warm food diet, and have nothing cold. Bone broth is good right...

Any tips/suggestions appreciated! The internet is overwhelming me right now haha.
  • @ellemarie7 Eep!  How exciting!!!  You have done all the things, lady. ❤️ I like doing bone broth, too, and maybe could be superstitious a bit about warm socks?  I have actually heard LAUGHTER is the best medicine during / immediately after transfer, and for the next several days.  Happy mommy = implanting embie! Lol  if you see the clown studies, you'll know what I'm talking about.  Oh, and we used to try and have fun with the pineapple core, eating it in thin slices so you get the benefits from the core, too.  You can do five or six sections spaced out over several days from transfer on?  Lol who knows though if it's enough bromelain tho to do anything. 🤷. I'll let you know if I think of anything else!  Laughter, bone broth, pineapple core, socks  lol. That's my checklist.

AFM, I'm just 5DPO!  Counting down, ten days or less to CD1.  Eep!!!

@BusinessWife how could I have forgotten about the pineapple core!!!

And okay...I’m having my first serious panic moment. I was supposed to put my first endometrin in at 11AM. My in-laws are here for Easter, things are hectic and I completely just forgot. I’m so mad at myself right now. I put it in at 11:40. I immediately reached out to my clinic and they said it’s okay I have a “three hour window to mess up.” Is that true? I mean, I trust them. But now I’m in my head about it. They said it’s totally fine and I just do my second insert at 11PM along with my first PIO. I just can’t believe I forgot to do it at the right time. Ughhhh
  • edited April 2021
Oh my gosh!  Yes, you're totally fine. @ellemarie7 that is true that there is a margin of error or... I mean bodies are not totally static systems for lack of a better word, your body is going to process it however quickly or slowly, too, right?  Plus you have the PIO covering you, and a few days yet till transfer.  You're totally good! 😂
  • @BusinessWife thanks  :s I really thought I wouldn’t be as crazy this time around!
  • Thinking of you ❤️ @ellemarie7 How's everything looking for transfer?

    @blackhottamales have you started BCPs?

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! 💕🐰💕
  • edited April 2021
@BusinessWife wow CD1 is coming up soon! i'm excited for you! How are you feeling?

Yep, i started BCP last week, next week i'll have labs done and a hysteroscopy, then start Lupron towards the last week of April or so!

ETA: right now i'm just calling the pharmacies to get the best price. I hate this part.  I called SandsRX and their Estogren (we use brand only) was $1K less than Integrity which just seems crazy to me so i'm calling again to confirm.

  • Oh wow!  That's a huge difference!  I hope you're able to save some money!  It's wild how many different drugs are used for everyone's protocols.  I feel like mine is too easy, 😬😬😬 and that makes me nervous. Lol @blackhottamales. I am excited tho.  I have been taking my supplements, drinking my tea, but I got this castor oil to try and I haven't done even once yet.  I think if nothing else, might help to try and relax a bit.  WFH just started so that's going to be an adjustment, juggling monitoring and stuff like that.  I'm trying to just breathe and not think too far out... So far, so good!  Once that cycle starts it's like dropping from the top of a rollercoaster - you just go along for the ride!
  • Hi ladies! Yes all systems were a go and today was the day...everything went smooth and we transferred one beautiful 4AA little
    embaby  <3

Hope everyone else is feeling well and good!

Will keep y’all posted, let the wait begin  :p
