I have my 20 week appointment tomorrow with a new doctor bc my doctor had to take some time off for medical leave. This doctor I am seeing tomorrow did deliver my last baby and I feel comfortable seeing her. However, I’m feeling so sad I can’t see my normal doctor. She found out she has cancer and I’m praying she can get better. The clinic is just scheduling me with whatever doctor is available for the time being for upcoming appointments but I might try to see this doctor I’m seeing tomorrow until I can see my normal doctor again.
@MelissaMay82 thank you. I feel so heartbroken hearing the news. I of course want her to be here for my pregnancy but mostly I want her to be healthy. My doctor has been amazing to me for my other pregnancies and she is such a good person. No one deserves to go thru that and I pray she has a speedy recovery
I have a growth ultrasound check next week and I can't wait! Since my husband has seen the baby 3 times now I'm going to bring my mom ❤️ I love getting extra peeks at him.
I had my anatomy scan today! Baby was measuring perfectly and very healthy. As I suspected, I have an anterior placenta and baby is breech. I was thinking that because I've been feeling tiny little fluttery kicks so low and this also helps explain the lack of movement. Baby's legs are measuring so long - 80% percentile, which is extra funny as I am so short haha. I'm kind of excited to have an anterior placenta this time to be honest. I am sooo relieved. She checked my cervix and it is nice and long and no placenta previa this time. I also got to see my c/s scar from the inside so that was SUPER cool.
Also had my AS today and baby looked great! I was able to confirm that the baby has a vagina and two kidneys (it was discovered at DS's AS that he only had one functioning kidney and it was very scary for a little while)!
I also have an anterior placenta which I was glad to see since I haven't been feeling her move consistently but I know I will feel her more in the coming weeks. I was just so happy that everything looked good and normal. What a relief! The tech only got two photos and one is of her feet. That was disappointing but whatever...

@laurad75@AKuzReve yay for good AS!!! So glad both babies are looking good. @laurad75 I'm glad baby's kidneys are doing what they need to do at this point.
Are anterior placentas more common that posterior? I feel like we got a whole lotta anterior placentas on this board!!
@_orchid_ I had a 'low laying placenta' with DS1 and I don't remember ever hearing about anterior until this board where everyone seems to have it. Interesting!

Had a nice boring tele-OB visit this morning. Baby kept kicking the Doppler (which I could feel) so it took a minute for me to find the heartbeat instead of a thump thump 😆 Back in about a month for an in-person appointment and GD screen. Whee!
Just had my 20w ultrasound/appointment today, although a week late because I'm 21w today. So far everything looks good, double confirmed it's a boy (which we already knew from NIPT). Ultrasound tech did say she felt my placenta was a little low so she's scheduled me for another ultrasound at 32w just in case.
Then I saw my OB, first time this pregnancy because I normally see the midwives. We chatted about delivery, and based on my last he suggested a repeat c-section. It's now 2 > 1 for a repeat c-section. I'd pretty much already decided I was probably going to go that route, and now my primary midwife and the OB suggest it. The other midwife was on the fence, and said if it were her she'd just wait it out to see how my body looks closer to due date.
Lastly we talked about the Covid vaccine, and he suggested I get it - and said there's no time that it's too early. Of course like a lot of places I'm not even in a group eligible to get it, although the county next to mine is vaccinating anyone and everyone who shows up - including those from out of state. As luck would have it I missed the vaccine clinic by 30 minutes today while I was out that way for my appointment. I will be out of town for several weeks and so I guess I'm just going to have to wait until I get back.
AS today went well! Everything looked good, though took a long time because she wouldn't stop moving (tech confirmed that yes, what I'm feeling is her, even she could feel some of the movement). Cervix was pretty long (5-6cm), so they may check it once more but for the most part don't need to. We didn't talk about the vaccine, mostly because I figure it's a couple of months from when I'd even be able to find one anyway. This time around they did hand out a "decision guide", which I thought was encouraging (compared to prior answers which were all "no").
Glad to hear that everyone's appointments have been going well!
I have another colposcopy appt this Friday at the hospital. My OB does it and I have to have one in each trimester. They want to check my cervix to make sure its looking good and healed still from my LEEP surgery. I want Friday to be over with as I hate those appts. Soooo uncomfortable 😖 FX it all looks ok in there.
Sorry all - I completely had to post and run yesterday since between my anatomy scan and blood work for my thyroid, I didn't start working until 1 PM. Oops.
So happy to hear your AS' also went well, @laurad75 and @akoros. And yay for other great appointments!
@_orchid_, I feel like anterior was so uncommon in my last BMB so I'm surprised how many of us have it here! I am curious though to the anterior placenta with a c/s. I had significant blood loss with my 1st and I'd like to avoid that again. I wonder if there's a higher correlation with anterior placenta and blood loss. I'll google one night when I'm bored.
@mindyb2019, good luck on Friday! FX for a great cervix!
@_orchid_ - Google says that anterior are 25% chance (which makes sense considering you have 4 "sides" to a uterus). I do feel like we have a lot here, but maybe people are just more apt to talk about it or complain about not feeling movement? I've also have an anterior in 2/3 pregnancies.
I also read that 75% of anterior placentas are in girls and only 25% are in boys. I've had one boy and one girl with anterior placentas, but now I'm curious as to the stats on this board.
@marebear15 interesting!! My other boys were posterior, but this boy is anterior. The MFM I go to for my NT always has just told me without asking, idk why
Y’all I could not have gotten better news at this appt. I was super nervous about my cervical length and placenta previa. I actually spent the night in my sons room with him because I was terrified they were going to admit me to the hospital and I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him.
Well the cervix increased in length from a 1.8 to a 5.1?!? And my placenta also completely moved from complete previa to posterior fundal. My doctor said she never expected that to happen so fast but she is definitely pleased. The ultrasound tech was shocked like she didn’t believe me that it was complete previa until she pulled up the old scan. Im now on modified bedrest instead of strict and I’ll continue all the meds for preterm labor and progesterone. I also got my first steroid shot for lung development!
I’m am crying tears of joy right now. Thanks for all the well wishes and long cervix vibes lol!!
@sgrn18 that is amazing!! So, so happy for you!!! FX modified bedrest continues to help- is there a chance they'd take you off bedrest completely if everything continues to hold tight??
@sgrn18 OMG!! Yay thats amazing news. So happy for you. Wow 5.1??? Can cervix's get longer? I didnt know they can go from short to way longer like that. I want mine to get even longer haha
Thanks everyone!! I’m literally so happy right now.
@mindyb2019 My OB thinks that maybe I was in preterm labor, that the bedrest and meds are what helped, and maybe not so much of an incompetent cervix. Which would make more sense for gaining that much length! Everything I read, even other women’s stories, it never got more than .5-1cm longer with incompetent cervix. I’m telling you I was completely shocked when the tech was measuring everything.
@_orchid_ she said at the next cervix check we can further remove restrictions if we stay the course but she doesn’t think she’ll let me go back to work.
So. Just got out of an overwhelming appointment. My membrane is separating from the placenta. They don’t know what’s causing it. They don’t recommend amniocentesis at this time due to risk of abortion with the separated membrane already.
Baby isn’t growing as well as he was expected to be. Measuring 1-2 weeks behind though everything is symmetrical at this point.
Working with a friend who’s going to get me figure out getting a second opinion ASAP since time is of the essence here. He was fine. We were just doing checks for cervical length (which is holding fine). So.... just trying to process.

@angelz429 sending good vibes your way! I hope you can get a second opinion asap, and that in the meantime you are able to not stress too much (pretty much impossible, I know...). So sorry you are going through this.
